Very nice. I laughed out loud more than a few timers here. I think my favorite part was the return address on the kryptonite. Bad cheeks! Also the mentioning of "Chralton wouldn't write it like that.." and villalobos or finchum?" Very funny start can't wait for the next issue.

Damn good writing, damn good satire too. I didn't think something like this could work in prose but it does! Well done man, can't wait to see more!

Thanks so much for the praise, folks! I actually intended to answer the letters in the Ambush Bug persona but I decided I couldn't make it work without looking monumentally cheesy and forced.
And notice to all writers/artists/staff of the DC2. I will be satirizing (or rather, the Bug will) more of the work I've read and enjoyed so much here. I really do admire ALL of the talented people here and I will mean NO disrespect to anyone. It's Ambush Bug, people, so get in the spirit and take a joke.
That's my disclaimer and I'm sticking to it.

I'm glad you're enjoying this. And just wait 'til the bug meets the bat. We may just yet get to the bottom of the bra size.

Dear Ambush Bug,
You have no idea how much I've always wanted to write that! When I was a wee fangirl, I loved your miniserieses (is that the right plural?), especially the lettercols. Does Krypto still write you letters? And if so, how does the dog hold a pencil? Or maybe he types them...
Anyways, I'm glad you talked DC2 into giving you a book, even if you are wallowing in Elseworlds obscurity...I mean, what good books ever came out of Elseworlds? Okay, "Locked Inside the Facade" is great, but that's a fluke. The upside is, this is EXACTLY how I pictured a DC2 Ambush Bug book coming out: full of zingers at us dumb schulbs that work here for free and referencing our own work as well as the "official" nonsense. Too bad Darkseid's in the Source Wall around here, I know he's your regular guest star. Of course, you could spring him...
I look forward to you terrorizing Batman next issue, just don't roll the giant penny around like you did last time, you almost got squashed like...well, a bug.
Your biggest fan, Susan Hillwig
PS - I find the image of Jack Nicholson done up like you a mite disturbing.

This was an absolute riot. I wish I could point to just one scene or line that was my favorite or funniest, but this issue is chock-a-block with them (Though I am partial to "Charlton wouldn't write it like that.")!
I loved it when Ambush Bug broke down the fourth wall (Villalobos or Flinchum!) (a bank robbery straight out of Action #9), and yet somehow this still remained true to established DC2 continuity (!?!).
This was just brilliant, Aaron. Can't wait to see the next one--- I doubt Batman will have as much patience for the Bug as Superham--- I mean Superman!--- did!
Art, that cover was equally awesome. The parody of your classic Crisis cover, and the look of "Great-Rao-What-the-heck-is-this-thing?" is priceless.

Dear Mr. Amazing Spectacular Sensation Civil War Peter Parker Ambush Bug sir,
Absolute-tastically one of the best hee-haw-laugh-out-loud-rolling-on-the-floor-with-milk-shooting-out-of-my-nose stories ever!
I honestly didn't know what to be expecting when I started reading, but once I started I couldn't stop reading! The 4th wall should never be broken unless Ambush Bug is holding the hammer!
Questions: 1) If Ambush Bug could take a sidekick, who would it be? 2) If Ambush Bug could challenge any DC2 character to a thumb wrestling championship, who would he challenge? 3) What is Ambush Bug's greatest fear in life?
Awesomeness to the extreme, maxed out and taking steroids! Can't wait to see the Bug and Bats "team up".
New Fan

I laughed. I peed. I cried. Then I read this issue, and laughed and peed and cried again. I laughed so hard, coffee came out my nose, which caused me to pee and cry yet again. Which kinda sucked, 'cause I read this at work, and got snotty coffe on my tie... Folks, do yourself a favor: READ THIS ISSUE! It is hilarious. You do yourself a disservice if you deny yourself this pleasure. But wear a bib. And maybe some Depends. I wish I had...

You have got this character in your blood! This was hysterical, from beginning to end. I'm so glad the Bug is heading towards the Titans. I've got time to get the Outsiders out of town. Honestly, there were too many moments to single one out. But the references to the staff had me on the floor. GREAT ISSUE!!!

Being that I wrote such a long response the first time (still waiting for the answer to the questions) I will just say 3 words.
Funny. Funny. Funny.
And to piggy back that I will add 25 words, 26 if you can't "I":
Cool references, cool situations. I didn't know whether you could keep Ambush Bug fresh (jokes are hard sometimes) but the Bug keeps coming with the funny.

I love Batman was so in "Year One" mode until the very end. I'm sure he and WW wuv eachother very much. Though Catwoman might take exception....
I half expected the ATMinator to have an Austrian accent.....
I fear the possibilities of Ambush Bug behaving in a cartoon Titans fasion....
I don't know why I'm leaving all my sentences hanging....

Oh man, somebody please warn Starfire the Bug is coming.

Ambush Bug here. Ignore that stupid username to the left. All right Crow, since you asked me so nice:
1. Why, Cheeks the Toy Wonder! Duh! 2. The Atom. I'd squish him like a- ah- bug. 3. That I'm forgotten after this horrid mini-series. Come on people, let's start a campaign to keep the Bug! 4. I'm in talks with Nicholson to play me in the movie. Didn't you see my "Letters to Me" banner? Just haven't found a WRITER yet. 5. Yes. I am THAT awesome. 6. You didn't ask those last two questions, did you?

I think this issue was funnier than the last! Do you remember all those references you made or did you do a little research? I can't remember a darn thing.

Dear Ambush Bug, Once again, you bring home the funny, even though the grocery list stated only eggs, milk, and Liquid Plumber (I'm making a birthday cake for Chemo). Bats was spot-on grumpy (maybe I should make him a cake instead) but you didn't let that deter you from helping ( ) him in his quest for Justice (which I do not read...who the Hell is Alex Ross?). I'm sure the Titans will thank you heavily for your presence next month. As always, Susan Hillwig PS - The restraining order's in the mail...don't you know the meaning of the word "Platonic"?!?

I don't even know where to begin.
I'm still laughing at this.
By the end of it I was enthralled on how many times you could alter the word Nightwing. It just rolled along with one funny bit after another... then it happened...
and it was like an atomic bomb going off!
Down went Dave! Followed by Charlie! There goes Ellen! (Oh crap, I know it's coming). Yep, down I go, followed by Brandon and the others. Here I am at work, trying desperately to hold it in, but I just couldn't. I laughed loud and hard at each one of us. It was masterful. Brilliant! Nice to know that you read all of our stuff!
Thank you for this awesome work. You really have the voice for this character.
hairless Chihuahua! I'm going to laugh at that all day.

Poor Nightwing can't catch a break can he? Got the snot beat out of him in his own title, and now this.
But it does fit that Speedy and Bug would get along.
Uh bug, you might wanna move a bit to the left, there's a--
*big chunk of rock lands on Bug*
*The original Terra shrugs.* "Some kid named Cheeks asked me to do it."
Next issue, I'm sure, will feature WW beating the crud out of what's left of the bug with her mighty CLEAVAGE!!
