Call me slow, but I'm still a little confused as to the format of the issues released on this site.
Are the issues going to be in the form of a comic book, with the artist drawing every panel? Or are they going to be more in the form of a novel with the artist only drawing the covers?
Also, if I decide to submit a story, do I have to write it panel-by-panel with a description of what the panel should kind of look like, or should I put it in the form of a novel? (I guess the answer to this depends on the answer to my last question)
Thanks, darkknightdetec

I'll take this one! The artist only draws covers, and sometimes 'panels' to go into the Gallery. The story is written like a novel, so no comic books here yet! (or ever... I dunno...)

What are you wanting to write? Detective Comics?

What are you wanting to write? Detective Comics? No I'm not confused anymore. And I think I may (eventually) submit a story for Detective Comics. But don't sign me up yet!

See the Rules and Guidelines thread for how to submit to write for a title. Yeah, but that's the thing. I'm in High School, and with all the work I'm not really sure when I'm going to have the time to write a whole story (arc). I'll probably submit one eventually, I'm just not sure when.

No worries! Whenever you're ready. In the meantime, I hope you'll stick around and see what's in store at the DC2!

I've read the rules and guidelines, let me just make sure I've got this straight. I apply to write a title to Idlewilder, and say I get it. The way I understand it, an artist is only responsible for covers and an occasional panel. The story itself is written in novel form, not broken down into discriptions of individual panels. How many pages constitutes an issue? The way I understand it, we are limited to 12 issues, with the exception that if there is no one else waiting to write it. Also, another question here: say I've been writing something for 15 issues now, and someone else comes along and wants to write it. How much time would I be given to finish up a storyarc. I understand that it wouldn't be smart to begin a nine issue arc after the initial 12 is done with, but I would think there would be at least a couple issues to wrap things up. Anyway, sure I'll have more questions later, but that's it for now. Thanks.

well what if you WANT to do panels and a full story in comic book form?i think you should allow those who wanna do a full monthly title to do so I'm sure you could. It's a whole lot of effort just to post 22 pages of narrative art fanfic. Most pros do about a page to two pages a day, which means it'll take your artist the better part of a month to complete one issue. Longer if you go to inks and/or colors.

Right, if you can get a comic of full art pages done then most certainly submit it. I don't think it's forbidden or frowned on or anything, just not a format that is practical to what we are doing. Let me tell you, it's no easy thing just to get covers for all of these stories.

It's a good thing I like to write because I can't draw a straight line with a ruler! I respect and admire the cover art we've seen so far and it adds a nice touch to the stories.

Trulyamazing, there are absolutely guidelines for posting, and they are found, appropriately enough, in the thread entitled Rules and Guidelines in the What is DC2? forum above this one
I would recommend that you read the threads in the Welcome forums before submitting a proposal--- you should find all the answers to your questions there.
When you're ready to submit a proposal, PM me (just click on my username and click Send Personal Message).
But I can tell you that the Question is already taken for our continuity titles, and there are plans for Captain Marvel (which may not disqualify you from doing the title, but there would be stipulations).
Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions.

i know i read those guidlines but a friend and I are planning to do a full story panels and all, but some of those guidlines don't apply to what we want to do. and uhhh what characters are open

Yes, they do.
Submit the proposal first--- either for an existing title or for a new title. You can submit a prposal for any title that is open, as per the Title Queue thread (for instance, if you want to do an issue of Detective Comics, give me a proposal for a three issue arc, starting with issue 7 going to issue 9, featuring these characters, etc).
If it is a new title, do the same thing--- but that's trickier, because we have to be able to maintain the title after your initial arc or when you no longer want to work on it. I might recommend starting with a mini-series first to seee how it works.
All solicits are due to the editor 4 weeks prior to the issue posting. All fiction is due into the editor two weeks before posting. All finalized art is due into the AD one week prior to posting.
As for what characters are available for a new title, you can see who's taken already by our list of existing titles (though there may be room for additional Superman or Batman titles), and if you have any questions as to who still doesn't have a regular title in the works, please PM me with your suggestion.
Off the top of my head, I can think of: Captain Marvel Firestorm Blue Beetle Martian Manhunter
But I'm sure there are dozens more.
Keep in mind that any regular title must conform to DC2 continuity (which we can discuss, but is fairly simple and straightforward).
If you have anymore questions, let's continue this conversation privately through PMs.

Well... You create a portfolio showcasing all your best works, and then you present it to editors at cons, or your send it off to various editors from various companies.
But! If you're interested in contributing art to our bustling art department (we're always interested in new talent to take up the DC2 art baton!), post up some of your art work in the Fan Art section, and show us what you're made of! Good luck!
