The DC2 concept is great. The stories and the mixing of characters in new ways is so fun to read. Out of all my e-mail, I keep an eye out for DC2 announcements. The graphic/web designer in me has the following thoughts... 1. The colors are "whew, bright". More muted colors might make the stories easier to read, give emphasis to the comic artwork, and make the header image the focal point. 2. Fantastic Domain Name. If you can, add it to the signature line of all your correspondence and announcements. 3. It looks like the Probards are pretty restrictive in terms of layout. If you ever have the opportunity, I'd suggest moving to a web host that allows you to install Mambo or Joomla www.joomla.com/. Both are free open source content management systems. The DC2 website could use a lot of the functionality that Joomla offers. It would also make navigation around the site much easier. Just some thoughts on a really great product. Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the input. I know the Editors put in a lot of love into this place, so they're always looking for DC2 to improve and grow. 1. The colors are "whew, bright". More muted colors might make the stories easier to read, give emphasis to the comic artwork, and make the header image the focal point. Not just bright, superheroicly bright! Sometimes I do find it easier to read the printer friendly version the stories. 2. Fantastic Domain Name. Why, thank you. 3. It looks like the Probards are pretty restrictive in terms of layout. If you ever have the opportunity, I'd suggest moving to a web host that allows you to install Mambo or Joomla www.joomla.com/. Both are free open source content management systems. I was actually thinking of doing a major upgrade to my webspace, and offer it to host DC2. This way, the message boards would be under our control without that $%#@ advertising. We'd also have the ability to seamlessly switch between web pages and message boards. That was supposed to be a surprise offering for the other staff members, but I guess I might as well field it now... So Idlewilder, are we interested in a major upgrade? ;D

Thanks for the enthusiasm and the support, Mel!
We work very hard (but mostly just have a lot of fun) presenting this site to our members, so I would also like to say thank you for the suggestions--- and for caring enough to offer them.
I have heard some criticism on the site colors before, but it's hard for me to have the proper perspective: I chose these colors because they scream DC (obviously, these are the primary colors of both Superman and Wonder Woman), and I think they make a bold, vibrant and instantly recognizable statement. But if they are getting in the way of members enjoying the site, then I guess we need to re-think that decision! Sounds like we need to poll the community.
Now, we're all writers annd artists here, and not web designers (well, DrDread is pretty savvy about that kind of stuff), but I will certainly take into consideration your tips on Mambo and Joomla--- or at least bring it to the proper attention!
Thanks again, Mel--- and we hope to see you around here more often!

Oopps! Looks like Doc and I posted at the same time (literally and figuratively on the same page, though).

I can offer some space at my site if you would like. Just got notified of even more space that is just going to be going to waste. I can give you a few gigabytes space, and set up a phpBB or SMF board for use so you won't be stuck with a forum with advertising on it. I could probably install that Joomla thingy for you to if you decide you'd like it. Just send me a pm if you think you might be interested.

I'm new here and sorry if I'm imposing, but I wanted to just ;eave my own two cents on the colors:
I'm by no means an expert but I did takes classes on web design in my media major, and everything here is absolutely great but the colors. I figured when I first saw it that it was to represent the DC heroes: red and blue with the yellow lettering is iconic for Big Blue and many others. But for reading it would be better just to make them muted colors. Doesn't mean it can't be red or blue, but if you would make them darker shades it'll be better. Otherwise, everyone on DC2 will be wearing glasses, and those of us with glasses will be wearing the ol' coke bottles.
Otherwise, I think this is a great site and has real potential to bring writers to the mainstream (crossed fingers). Keep us the great work!

I first started reading DC2 comics on my aldiko book read app on my phone. I have always been a big comic fan much like everyone on the site, but have recently gotten away from reading them do the fact that growing up sucks. See? They all laughed at me! I TOLD them that making them available to mobiles would be a good idea... muhahahahahah!!!! My genius is vindicated! (I'm the guy posting them to Feedbooks where you're picking them up from). Seriously though, we're glad you found us! And are you in for a treat when you start digging into New Outsiders! And, like David said, feedback is good. I know sometimes it's difficult to make the time (hey, we're all busy), but it's the words of the readers that keep the writers writing and the artists drawing! And... yes, growing up sucks. That's why I've resolved to never do it myself ;D

Indeed, welcome aboard, and I'm thrilled to hear how much you love the product here. We do have some really amazing stories and fantastic art to complement. At the least, why don't you start a thread over at the Open Forum maybe, and tell us which titles you've read off your ebook reader. I've been dying to learn what those outside the community have been thinking of James' pet project.
And James, thanks for your work in this and other areas. We can now say, obviously it's been a boon.
take care Don
