Steve, I'm speechless. THis is a beautiful cover. Amethyst looks phenomenal, and all of the Moondancers are just beautiful. I love the structure of this. I love the little jelly bracelets on Amy's right arm to balance the grecian gold on Amethyst's left. I love every facial expression. I love that you're willing to give us a 14-year-old who doesn't have boobs yet, and very muscular women for our villains Your characters absolutely shine with personality and we are the luckiest writers on the site to have you doing these covers.

This just may be the prettiest damn thread on the site.
Beautiful cover, Steve. Amy's expression is the clincher, for sure! I bought the original Amethyst mini as it was being released back in the 80s (and still have every issue of both minis, two specials and the short-lived ongoing), and look forward to seeing her DC2 incarnation.

Lot of cool projects coming out in the next few months, and I'm proudest of the collaborations I've got going. This is sure to be awesome!

I can't speak to the technical aspect, but I know beauty when I see it, and that image is bee-yoot!-iful! The speed effect is very cool looking.
I've also gotten a sneak peek of your cover to Justice League #38--- and may I just say: Bravo, sir!

flash #39 cover i tried a new colouring technique here let me know what you think Hell to the yes, my friend. The colours are an intriguing and awesome addition to this cover, kind of softer, smoother? Not saying that your colours before weren't sharp as all hell, but I like this, but I guess I'm biased and now also rambling... ...Great work! hopefully I'll be able to get this dressed before the day is through, and the issue will post as soon as Pat gets off his arse!

As ever, a stellar cover from Steve. I love the speeding effect for Flash, it's different, it makes sense, it evokes the classic method while putting a solidly "Steve Howard" stamp on it. The colors are a bit muted, but that's perfect, that's the angle I feel is being called for here, with the speed blurring the eye. Just perfect.
Take care Don

Yeeaaahhhh.... And I gotta follow this guy with a Flash cover for issue 40?!? GAH! O.O-!!
Heh! Seriously, these are sweet, Steve! Looking forward to more!
What program/technique are you using to color these? And rough-estimate, how long does a single cover take from pencil to ink to color?

What program/technique are you using to color these? And rough-estimate, how long does a single cover take from pencil to ink to color? I'm sure you'll do great work on issue 40 looking forward to seeing it all my covers are coloured in photoshop (cs2). its hard to say what my technique for colouring is, as I'm always trying new things and trying to learn new techniques myself. the most common method i use is colouring it in greyscale first, then adding colour over that in layers it takes a bit of getting used two but i think it works. this is just a really rough guess but i can normally get a cover done in my days off so say over two days working around 6-8 hours a day some take double that some only half the time it really depends on the subject and the setting and of course whether in trying a new technique

The... attention... to detail... it... hurts... my... soul...
Great cover as always, Steve. You really upped your game, and your interpretation of Boris' CSA costumes are immense! Classic but with a new spin, and yet still true to what came before! I am in awe, sir! AWE!

That looks fantastic, Steve =D It's funny, I wanted Amy to have a tiara, but the headband works SO much better than the tiara ever would have. It just keeps her looking 14, but it still puts something sparkly on the top of the head to balance everything out. Everyone looks amazing, the construction is fantastic....now we just have to make an issue that does it justice!

Great picture, I really love it. Always loved Terra, both versions of her (the original psycho, and the later alternate future Terra), and this really does a cool job of capturing a puckish, bright-eyed attitude in her. As always, fantastic work, Steve.
Take care Don

Great work as always; moody and threatening, a looming, ominous feel to the characters' poses and reactions. And the coloring just adds to that feel. Great stuff as always.
Take care Don
