I actually thought the first story was quite good, managing to keep my interest in a bunch of characters that I didn't have much of an interest in to begin with. Having said that I strongly question the wisdom of having a group of second-string characters headlining Action Comics when we can have that other more reader-friendly guy. Also, the use of the Justice League (in this and seemingly every other title you write) seemed a bit superfluous, especially the bit that just seemed to be trying to explain J'onn's non-assistance in last month's Batman.
As for the second story, hopefully it will be turning up before the issue posts.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Mark! Yes, the back up is now posted, and what a back up! Kudos to Roy for bringing his writing skills to the table for that. And of course I realise what you're saying about the lack of Superman in this book, but you'll understand why this is happening when ACTION COMICS ANNUAL #2 arrives at the end of the month! Big stuff happening. And thanks to MischiefDragon for co-writing this baby with me! Parker joins me next month, after we get some technical hiccups sorted

Really enjoyed the backup. Especially liked the brief description of Lamar's apartment.

Thanks for the kind words, Mark! I know I've done something well if you enjoy it...! Now 'Chief... Did you like the issue? The bits you didn't write, that is I especially loved the John Henry Irons part, that was my absolute favorite in the whole issue. Better that what I wrote. I am still the padawan here. I like that stuff.

This was truly a fascinating read. It was like a who's who of the DC universe. A little bit of everybody showed up in this one. I really enjoyed it. Have to say that whatever the heck is going on with Lois and John has me totally intrigued. THAT was my favorite part. Really enjoyed the second story a LOT! And of course the cover was awesome, as usual. miss big blue, though.

I wanted to like this issue, I really did--- but I'm sorry to say it honestly did not work for me. This is Action Comics. This is Superman's book, and yet he is no where in sight. Granted, the action takes place in Superman's Metropolis, and with his supporting cast--- and with some obscure characters (and one utterly uninteresting Original Character bizarrely named J. Caesar)--- in addition to the obligatory Justice League cameo--- but this issue needed Superman. It simply wasn't strong enough without him--- it lacked focus and cohesion. If someone asked me what this issue was about, I'd have no idea what to tell them . All due respect to Roy, this issue needed an editor, not just a beta reader (though I get the impression Roy's role is more in line with a collaborator, right...?). In addition to the above mentioned missteps, there were half a dozen formatting errors and at least as many grammatical errors--- which normally I wouldn't even mention, but when they significantly impact the presentation of the story, it needs to be pointed out. I gave it three stars on the basis that I do think this issue sets up a more interesting next issue--- and I actually did laugh at the red neck scene ( “An’ I said to her… ‘You gotta be kiddin’ me… I mean… It wasn’t even the dog, it was the goat… Tha’s gotta… Gotta count for somethin’…’”). The Lois/Steel relationship could become interesting, and the cliffhanger was pretty good (but isn't it a little too early trot Doomsday out again?). Krypton Square has promise, but it hasn't really grabbed me yet--- not only has the Guardian usurped Superman's position in the main story, but he figures prominently in the back-up, too? I think this was a bad judgement call, and speaks again for the need for a full-time editor on Action. I think I probably would have enjoyed "Krypton Square" better in a different context. Also, Roy's cover has superb--- I just wish someone was giving him Superman to draw (and not just a yokel in a Superman shirt--- but it was clever to stick that in there)! You have the leading interpreter of the Man of Steel on this title--- I wanna see him do what he does best! And if there are four epilogues--- and a back-up story--- I don't see how they can be epilogues, especially when they represent more than half the length of the issue. Let me just say, that I respect what the creative team is tryng to do in this title, and I have nothing but admiration for them and respect for their talent. But everyone has a bad day--- and I know there are some really cool things going down the line in this comic. Of course, this is all just my opinion, and I strongly encourage everyone to read this issue and make up their own minds. I will be back for next issue--- but you gotta promise me some Superman!

Thanks for the comments, for my part in this issue. Charlie had another direction in mind for Krypton Square, but I think I kinda hi-jacked it from him. Editor? I guess not. I thought I caught some stuff but I suppose I made it worse. I just pointed out the stuff that didn't read right to me and offered suggestions. Sorry about that Charlie. Guess I'm fired huh? There was a lot going on in the issue, and it is setup for bigger things to come. Kinda like waiting for Sanjaya to get voted off American Idol.

This issue, in my eyes from the get go, has been the difficult exposition issue. Doc and I wanted to do something BIG for this arc (yeah, I'm dragging him into this) and we came up with this cool storyline that will rock your world. Honestly. It's pretty good. So now that the exposition is out of the way, we can get into the meat of the story. Next issue takes a dark, supernatural turn, as one of our characters experiences some bad mojo in the form of an Irish spirit that doesn't like the situation she's in, and Steel begins to reveal to Lois what he was doing during the year before his plans to stand for the Mayorship! Interesting things indeed. And also, J'onn J'onzz discovers an untold tale of Superman! Yes, next issue features Superman! Well. This issue featured Superman. You just, obviously, didn't notice it. Confusing? Yeah. Keep coming back Dave! We love your company in the AC letter column

Me putting my two cents in. The part in the story that included Caesar was written by me. This is my first attempt at writing. The character will grow and be more interesting. All I can say he signed J.Caesar like I sign J.Vega. I hope that he will be a reflection of myself. So I just ask for patience with Caesar. I promise if no body likes him, then we'll do a poll to see if we'll kill him off . Here is the variant cover to this issue.
