Not sure I enjoyed this issue. The writing was strong, but there were moments when I just though... "No." I didn't enjoy the sudden slut-ization of Kara Zor-El, (Though red and black kryptonite? Nice...) I didn't like the lack of respect Kara gave the Marvels and Mary gave Kara and Lex versus Sivana was just plain juvenile. I never thought Lex to be the disgusting lecherous type but the way he treated the newer, sluttier Kara was plain... wrong. So like I said, I thought the writing was as strong as ever, but the subject matter didn't click with me. I also didn't like the repetition of how people gained their names. "I always liked Linda", "I always liked Conner"... I'll give the next issue a go, because Xadu is a scary villain (but then again he suddenly became an almost comedic figure in this issue), but all-in-all I've seen better from you, Brian.

I'll give the next issue a go, because Xadu is a scary villain (but then again he suddenly became an almost comedic figure in this issue), but all-in-all I've seen better from you, Brian. First and foremost, I'm very sorry you didn't like this issue. There is no one to blame but myself on this one. Ironically, when I wrote this, I actually had you in mind, Charlie. LOL! I've always admired how you are able to so seemlessly cross from one genre to the next as well as throw everything including the kitchen sink into a story and make it work. So after three plus years of writing character pieces and dark, brooding, sad characters, I figured let's try something different. I've always been a huge fan of Keith Giffen and thought that with the birth of Kon-El and the soon to be first appearance of Young Justice, I would bring some major humor into this story. You are absolutlely right about the "I like the name..." line. Once was enough, and that totally flew by me that I had already used it. Poor, poor, storytelling. But I'm a bit confused on Supergirl's disprespect for the Marvel's, other than the influence of the two kryptonites? She hardly even knows them at this point, so I don't see her fawning over them? Again, I'm really sorry you didn't like this. I hope the conclusion is more to your liking. I should probably go back to my some old style.

I enjoyed the issue but like Charlie said there were a few things that didn't really jive. I liked some of the witty dialogue scenes between Lex and Sivana but sometimes to me Lex felt a little too...childish with his insults. Not that that was terrible because it added a bit of comedy to the scenes but it just felt a bit akward for Lex. Still a good solid issue Brian and can't wait to see how this concludes.

I don't agree with the first two posts. I really enjoyed this issue, and the fact that it was so humorous made a great impression on me.
The Luthor/Sivana bickering was a highlight, I thought, largely because you're dealing with Sivana here. Sivana is a total wingnut, so I could definitely see Lex getting irritated with him and "sinking" to his level. On top of that, Sivana really is a rival to Lex's genius, and that must rankle Lex all the more. I also could see him acting towards Kara the way he did as a setup to later get very much under Superman's skin, not so much because he's a lech. Lex has historically loved to taunt Superman when he had the opportunity. Even in the DCU, DARKSEID, of all people, once taunted Supes with a brainwashed, "slutty" Kara. And in your story's case, it was the KRYPTONITE that made her behave this way, not that she's got a thing for Lex Luthor.
I really liked the interactions of the Supers with the Marvels, and I felt that they were appropriate- and funny. Especially with Mary's gushing reaction to Superman- I loved it.
And I guess what really hooked me is how FUN I felt this issue was. Man, sometimes the DC2 needs to lighten up! And with the Marvels and Sivana involved, a "lighter" approach suited me just fine. And though this may not have been your "usual" style, Brian, in most of your work you've always sprinkled in humorous moments that I've come to expect and look for. To me, you don't need to change your style here, you're doing it right. And I very much look forward to next issue.

This issue was awesome.
It had it all: a good story building to a big conclusion, a classic cover and more than a few moments that had me laughing at loud, though not at the expense of taking the story seriously.
Plus, it had the Marvels. And Sivana. And a fun Lois. And a twist.
And if anyone thinks Kara was acting slutty in this issue, they don't know slutty. I think that was more frisky school-girl, or at the most sex kitten. I know slutty. I dig slutty (hey, when it's appropriate--- and there are times). But this wasn't slutty.
(The only part that made me cringe a little, was, in the midst of this rollicking, twisty story filled with tongue in cheek humor, Slam Bradley has his jaw shattered. Ouch!)
Five stars to the Action team!

Sorry you didn't care for it as much, either, Sir. I hope the final chapter to this story will be more to your liking. If not, I guarentee you the next writer for the big S is going to knock your socks off. I'm SO looking forward to reading his stuff. ;D

I don't agree with the first two posts. I really enjoyed this issue, and the fact that it was so humorous made a great impression on me. I'm glad you liked it! Thanks! Yes, yes, and yes. You hit every point exactly. And don't think for one minute that Lex actually has a real "desire" for Kara. She's not even human, which I made a point of showing with Lex and Xadu earlier on. But Lex knows what's going to get Superman going, and he's not above irritating his enemy by any means. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed that. Those weren't easy scenes to write, actually. I'm really glad you had fun, that makes me feel good. That's a huge part of what I wanted to accomplish with this arc. Thanks for reading and responding.

Thank you. If anyone laughs out loud just once, while reading this, then I feel as though I've accomplished something. See, I really think Lois needs to loosen up a lot. But then, my favorite Lois has always been Terri Hatcher. Sex kitten was more of what I was shooting for, yes. Although I did delete the scene where she's caught by the paparzzi while getting out of a car with that little skirt on. I did go back and forth on that scene. But I wanted to remind the readers that there was still a real danger in the middle of all the comedy. I may have went too far, though. Thank you, Sir. For both reading and responding. Thank you, everyone, for your honest and contructive feedback. I really do appreciate all of it.
