As a special treat, I proudly present the alternate cover to All-Star Comics #2, worked up lovingly by Jim Dufresne and finished reverently by DrDread! The pic shows the original Monster Society of Evil, from the Golden Age, and the characters are, Oom the Mighty (in the back row), and from left to right, Mr. Who, Mr. Mind, Ramulus and Nyola.

Great covers and great issues. I didn't knew most of the Captain Marvel villians, but they look interesting. It got "Best issue of the week". But, why was it posted until today?

Excellent job! Loved it from beginning to end. Also thought both covers were fantastic. I really liked the "aged" look on the alternate cover. The cameo at the end was a great touch! It really felt like a classic tale.

Great covers and great issues. I didn't knew most of the Captain Marvel villians, but they look interesting. It got "Best issue of the week". But, why was it posted until today? We try to have all new issues at he DC2 posted by Wednesday (and do 90% of the time), but unfortunately, due to other concerns (i.e., jobs we get paid for, family issues, life in general), sometimes there are delays and the issues get posted on Wednesdays. Hopefully it makes for a better product. Glad you liked it, Zoom! And I think you are in the majority in not knowing most of Cap's villains--- which is why I didn't use the big ones (Sivana, Black Adam and now Sabbac, thanks to Winnick's recent efforts in the mythos); I believe that Cap has one of the richest and most colorful history in comics, and by using the villains I did, I wanted to highlight the story possibilities and depth of the character. Plus the Monster Society of Evil is just a cool concept! And thank you very much, Starlord! I toiled and worried over this particular issue more than I have any other I've written for the site (partially because it took me longer to complete than any other!), and am especially proud of the result. I appreciate the feedback!

BTW, All-Star Comics will now officially become a monthly title, with the next issue featuring Green Arrow, by Shoe! Also, look for future issues featuring Plastic Man, Martian Manhunter and Captain Comet!

Wow, I really liked the cover. What a great way for a superhero to premiere! Billy Batson beating Amok all by his lonesome. Nice. Liked that Superman came to see his hero revived, but most of all liked the idea of the C.C. Cap and the Billy Cap teaming up for the old hero's last battle and the new hero's first battle. "Best of the week" definetely.

Excellent! This story has a great throwback feel, like something I could've read from the silver or even golden ages. Captain Marvel is a great underused character and I hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle in the DC2. I do have The Power of Shazam series, so I was familiar with all of the villains and they were all written exceptionally well. Loved the first meeting between Cap/Billy and Superman, and another terrific cover(s). Kudos!

I wanted to establish Billy as a hero not because of the power of Shazam, but because of the inspiration of Captain Marvel, his father. Anyone can be a hero when you have the strength of Hercules, the wisdom of Solomon, etc--- I wanted to show it took more to be Captain Marvel!

This was grand! Is Amok an old version of Mr. Mind or something you made up, David? Either way, I was scared for a while! Loved C.C. coming back for one last turn as CM, and was that "Uncle Marvel" as Dudley? Nice cameo! I like the alternate cover, too. You did a great job all-around, and I'll keep looking in on Cap if you keep writing him!
