An awesome Martian Mahunter tale Dave, and oh my... Is that... Is this a major CRISIS: THE APOKOLIPS IMPERATIVE tie in? Well it rightly seems so!

So David can write brilliantly in first person too, as if that's a surprise. As I was reading the story I found myself hearing Carl Lumbly's voice as the Martian Manhunter.
Fantastic introduction of J'onn to the DC2. This superhero is INCREDIBLY powerful, sometimes underutilized by Justice League writers past. Hopefully that doesn't happen here, as I smell JLA in J'onn's future.
I really got a sense of J'onn's pain and loss; you really have to feel for this character. There are many orphans in the DCU and J'onn's story is as heartbreaking as any of them. I also felt his overwhelming fear of fire as he tries to deal with his debilitating weakness. And that Darkseid, wouldn't you just know he'd take advantage of that.
I'd say J'onn's in crisis already.

There is nothing that this guy can't do! This was an awesome read. I loved the whole PI part of this. visually, in my head, I saw the whole thing in black and white. Mickey Spillane meets Martian Manhunter! ;D
J'onn is really one of the most tragic characters in the DC universe, and David captured all of it beautifully.

Great intro to the Martian Manhunter! Like Brian, I really enjoyed the detective part, and the inclusion of J'onn's civilian life. These are things that so often get lost in his appearances, but you managed to showcase both those and his powers perfectly in this tale. I can't wait until Crisis!

Wow! One of the best stories you've written! Not a big MM fan, but this...wow again! And to top it all off, you managed to tie in Crisis! Plus you're making me overuse my excalmation points! ;D

Thanks, folks!
I had the most fun writing this since, well, my last run on All-Star! I channeled my childhood love of ERB's adventures of John Carter, fused them with my love of a good Bogart film, and lastly brought it to life with my love of the comics genre.
For those of you who are interested, my next All-Star project (but don't expect it for a while!) is... Zatara the Magician!
But be here in September for All-Star #6, featuring the debut of Firestorm, by Kevin (Leadslinger) Hill!

I loved this. I love MM and recently I watched my first few episodes of JLU (which arent great as is) and MM really isnt done justice, especially his personality IMO. This was great, I feel in love with the character as much as reading JLA Year One. Very real feeling. Can't wait for more.
Also I wasn't too fussed about the crisis until Ive read this issue and TT which are the latest two issues and francilly Im psyched.

Only reason was none of the episodes I wayched had the core justice league members in it. It seems that every hero in the DC is a Leaguer and that was dumb

One persons opinion of crap is anothers version of brilliance. It's all subjective. Personally I liked the JLU episodes that I saw.
