YES! Good recaping of everything involved, and very reader friendly! If people haven't read Justice League, they aren't going to be robbed of anything, and in fact Dave, your latest projects (GT, All Star Annual and now THIS) are some of the best I've read from you! You're back to writing what you love, and I'm so glad!

The stuff I'm writing now is stuff that I have been really looking forward to writing, almost since the site began, but for one reason or another, wasn't able to get to. I'm glad it shows!

I'm not quite clear....did the original Hawkman even know he was from Thanagar? How did he "become" Carter Hall?
But it's pretty clear to me who the new heirs of the avatars of the endless cycle are...
LionMane is a name I've only heard a few times (first in a commerical, of all things). I never knew he was a big deal with Hawkman. Which shows you how little I know of the character.
But of course, this was put together well, as I would expect no less from it's author.

I'm not quite clear....did the original Hawkman even know he was from Thanagar? How did he "become" Carter Hall? The original Hawkman wasn't from Thanagar. He was archaeologist Carter Hall, a reincarnated Egyptian prince, cursed to endure a seemingly endless cycle of death and rebirth. However, his origin is tied to a Thanagarian spaceship crashing to Earth in ancient days, and Carter himself went to Thanagar in a (thus far unchronicled) adventure in the 1940s. If you are interested, my mini The Immortal Legend of Hawkman Issues 0, 1, & 2 tells a passable origin story! Actually (as established in the aforementioned mini, The Immortal Legend of Hawkman), the Hawks bear the mantle of Champions of Horus, and are not avatars of some hitherto unknown Hawk God (as was horribly introduced, to great confusion, in the 90s series that almost destroyed the character). However--- keep your eyes peeled for a future Hawkman epic called "The Thasaro Revelations" for more on a "hawk-god". Hawkman has a pretty decent Rogues Gallery, Lion-Mane being one of the most fearsome (the recent run by Palmiotti and Gray used him and many of the others, to excellent effect)! Thanks for eading, Jay! And I really appreciate the feedback!

OH! So that's how you write Hawkman! Like everything else I read by David, I'm always enthralled and completely transported away. This was a great first part, and the introduction of Kendra was a great moment. In the capable hands of David, this character is going to fly circles around what DC is doing with her, right now. The first encounter between Katar and Kendra was my favorite, and probably one of the best moments on this site. I laughed out loud. And the ending! WHOA! Five stars. As always, you bring your A game to the table, and you never disappoint.

Aw man, that was so frikkin' GREAT! Do we really have to wait another month to finish? I've never heard of Lion Mane, but I plan on busting out the old Who's Who books and looking for him tonight (hope he's in there!). Best part of the whole story: Kendra lip-locking with Katar and stealing control of his wings! Fantastic!

Best part of the whole story: Kendra lip-locking with Katar and stealing control of his wings! Fantastic! Thanks, Susan! Katar's and Kendra's meeting was the first scene that occured to me, and was really fun to write (not to mention integral to establishing Kendra as a foil for Katar). I'm cheating with Lion-Mane a little: he was a foe of the Silver Age (DCU) Hawkman, not the Golden Age version (as he is in the DC2 incarnation). But don't let Hawkman's muddied DCU continuity concern you--- the character will have a pretty straight-forward continuity at the DC2! Glad you liked it!

I will try to maintain the high standard you set with that character! Glad you liked the ending... Looks like Katar's search is gonna be a short one, huh?

Good opening. I particularly liked the Katar/Kendra interplay and the latter scenes that seemed to harken back to adventure yarns of the past.
Excellent cover.

Stay-tuned, because there will be a whole lot of harkening next issue as well, as secrets are revealed, a war to save a city is waged, and a hero rises (ah--- but which one?)...!
