Hey gang;
Well some of you already know this, but I wanted to let everyone else know this is my last Batman issue for the next few months. Along with working at the paper, I am scripting a video game for a local company here in Niagara, and trying to get By the Blade a publisher....and I have less and less time to write for DC2 after all that is done. This has been the reason why Batman has been the latest book at DC2 for a while now. So I figured it was unfair to the title and to DC2 to keep that up, so I am stepping aside for a little while.
But no fear, Charlie is lining up some cool stuff for the book and picking up on some of the story threads left hanging. Also, I wanted to thank him for his input on this issue - his sharp eye helped make the issue better.
I will be back to Batman in a little while, and I will be here reading, but for the meantime wanted to say thanks for reading Batman!

This issue took a lot to work for me. There were some continuity bumps that when ironed out made this issue quite compelling. I might not be a fan of the "alternate" ways that the trio had to take out villains, because I thought that Batman would never do that to his enemies, but I have to admit, it made sense in the end, and now that Dick has found out? Uh-oh... there were some nice scenes in here, Black Mask continues to be an awesome character on the DC2, from when Brian and I first introduced him (I love the visual of him, I really do) to his continuing misadventures under Grant's pen and soon... mine. Bullock was fun, and I did change one thing with him, but that's because I'm an awful editor.
I'll be back next month!
... well, I guess I have to, but regardless...!

Uh-oh... It depends on how you view Batman I suppose. To me, the logic of the character means he is willing to do just about anything but kill. He is more than willing to toss conventional moral choices aside to stop criminals. He is, after all, not a cop. And he is not duddly do-right type like Superman who functions much like a police officer would. Batman is an outlaw who operates with his own moral and ethical standards. One of the elements of his massive ego is that he feels he can decide these things for everyone. The real question to me is not that Bruce Wayne would drug an enemy and turn him into a carrot, but if faced with the face kind of enemy, faced with a similar choice, what would Dick Grayson do. You are SUCH a softy. LOL. :-)

I am a big fan of Grant's version of Batman, and while I like my superheroes a little less on the morally ambiguous side, I think this works sometimes with this character; given the choices presented to him, I don't think his decision makes Bruce any less heroic (especially faced with an enemy like Drakon).
Loved the issue and will miss you at the Bat-helm, Grant! Come back to the title, soon (but until then, it couldn't be in better hands than Charlie's).
Five stars!

Nice tense way to end the current story! Leaves a lot in the air for when you return(ed) to the helm of this stellar title! Croc is just a total badass
