Nice issue as this wild and chaotic ride continues. Dick's really getting put through the wringer, buy this Nicholas Lucian character, then again, he practically dared him to. Looking forward to seeing how this connection is playing out.
Jason again steals the show and his interaction with Tim reminds me of All-Star Batman and Robin how Batman is trying to prove how cool he is to the young lad. I'm not totally convinced Tim's buying it though... Can't help to think that Jason's actions are going to have consequences for all Batmen...
The seeds planted in this issue, Flesh Monger, Prince of Lies, seems like it's leading to something huge...hmmmm

The funny thing is, as soon as I finished reading this my mind went right to All Star Batman and Robin as well. Unfortunatley, I didn't care for that book. I did like this one, however! Though I wasn't as enthused with Jason in this one, I loved how Alfred seemed to take charge in a way that is very reminicsent of how he is being handled in Outsiders right now... which I love. Also seeing a lot of similiarities between what DC2 and DC is doing right now with Batman, and I wish I wasn't. I still say they are spying on us. Excellent issue and a very haunting cover.

Nice issue as this wild and chaotic ride continues. Dick's really getting put through the wringer, buy this Nicholas Lucian character, then again, he practically dared him to. Looking forward to seeing how this connection is playing out. Ah, Dick isn't going to back down, or beg for his life. Terrible thing is, I'm working on #41-- and it gets worse. There's a reason this arc is called "Breaking the Bat", and I can't wait to write more Nicholas Lucian. His origin is revealed starting in #40, and it won't be what you expect! Tim not finding Jason cool? Check out next issue, which, unfortunately, won't be out this week, but the one after that. Yeah, sorry guys, we're back to our bi-weekly schedule Barbara takes a bigger role in #40, and Tim is at the forefront of #41. The seeds planted in this issue, Flesh Monger, Prince of Lies, seems like it's leading to something huge...hmmmm Yeah, you'd think so, right?

The funny thing is, as soon as I finished reading this my mind went right to All Star Batman and Robin as well. Unfortunatley, I didn't care for that book. Not a bad thing, Jason isn't a nice guy, that's the idea, but it's fun to write him in this completely... dick-ish way. I did like this one, however! Though I wasn't as enthused with Jason in this one, I loved how Alfred seemed to take charge in a way that is very reminicsent of how he is being handled in Outsiders right now... which I love. Alfred is coming into his own, and it should be plain and simple that I adore him as a character. Ramon proposed a very different approach to the Jason/Alfred relationship, which is so fun to write. Kudos to him for that! Also seeing a lot of similiarities between what DC2 and DC is doing right now with Batman, and I wish I wasn't. I still say they are spying on us. I know, right? Excellent issue and a very haunting cover. Totally, thanks for the compliments, sir!

Very nice, like what your doing with some of the characters, not sure about Jason's dialog though, it kind of feels like your trying to hard to make him sound like a street thug in a costume. Which he is of course, but it's coming off as forced.

Which he is of course, but it's coming off as forced. For me, I think that's kind of the idea. Next time we get a moment to explore his psyche, I think that'll be explained more, but it was touched upon in DC2 Nemesis: The Dark Knight, and it'll be revisited again. Thanks for your feedback, Mike!

Anytime Charlie, I just noticed that the last issue of Doctor Occult is also out, so I'll have to read that soon.
Did like this issue though, don't get me wrong. There are some very interesting events beginning to form in the Bat titles, and I want to see what happens next.

Hey guys, thanks for reading, but it only just came to my attention that I made a faux pas when it came to the cover-- it's not an original piece as I was under the impression, but a coloured panel/pin up from a Batman manga! So I've changed the cover now, and will post it up inside the solicits and issue themselves. Sorry if I've offended anyone, I would never steal art, or take without asking. And I don't appreciate the insinuation. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, the new cover, by Mario Cau, who also kindly agreed to allow us use of one of his piece for a Nightwing cover last month, is presented below:
