A month has passed and Chapter Two has posted! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the issue, and I promise that the cover will be up as soon as possible!
For those of you that don't read the solicits down at the bottom of the main page, this month also sees the release of three special tie-in issues, including: DC2 Nemesis Prologue: Aquaman, by current Aqua-scribe Pat Owen, which leads directly into Chapter Three (and I cannot wait for that instalment), the oft-mentioned and long awaited debut of a new incarnation of a fan-favourite character in DC2 Nemesis Prologue: The Dark Knight, co-written by Ramon Villalobos, and DC2 Nemesis Prologue: Batman, written by Mike Hewison, which explores the effects of the death of Gaia on some of Arkham's worst...
I'm looking forward to it, and I hope you are too!
Anyway, please share with us what you think, and I'll see you in 30!

Nice issue Charlie! I like how this is turning out. I love how Zauriel is playing a major role in this as I was a big fan of him in his DCU JLA days. The Dark Knight is a cool addition to the plot and I'm looking forward to the Dark Knight special.
The cover is absolutely awesome! All of the characters look great and I like how we still have the black sun in the middle. Good work!
Looking forward to more of Nemesis!

Like the first one, this issue kept me riveted to the screen from the first sentence. With a cast of thousands, this may just be the story Charlie was born to write! From the Chief to Swamp Thing and Zauriel, every character seemed integral to the story, and added to the interconnected nature of the DC2niverse. My only quibble is this story is working too hard at forced Morrisonisms (last month it was the space whales, this month it's the nonsense phrase "from beneath reality" or some such--- what does that mean, anyway? There's no way to tell! Thus it is Morrisonian). Nice to see Jason Todd finally surfacing! Can we expect a DC2 version of a Battle for the Cowl between him and Dick? The sense of foreboding continues to grow: Superman is taken out (by Swamp Thing, no less!), Batman investigates the Circle, and Wonder Woman shows why she is more of a badass than either of them. This is clearly a set-up issue (and there is nothing wrong with that, as every good story needs a set-up--- I hate when people dismiss an issue as "set-up"), but there are some really cool things going on, and I get the feeling stuff is going to hit the fan next month! Now, bring on the prologues (interlogues? maybe just call them tie-ins ).

Nice issue Charlie! I like how this is turning out. I love how Zauriel is playing a major role in this as I was a big fan of him in his DCU JLA days. Zauriel is rolling out of his Wonder Woman appearances (directly) and he's got one hell of a fight scene coming up soon that was so awesome to write! The Dark Knight is a cool addition to the plot and I'm looking forward to the Dark Knight special. I'm really looking forward to getting the special out! It's a cool collaboration between Ramon and myself (all we're missing is Chris and it'd be a regular ol' reunion) that I think is a work of frenzied, frenetic madness, and surely that can't be a bad thing?! Jason is also going to be playing a major role in my up-coming Batman run (yeah, I've hijacked that title too) and DC2 Nemesis Prologue: The Dark Knight sets a lot of that up! Be wary though, the title is not for the light hearted, as it's a brutal piece of prose that takes no prisoners! The cover is absolutely awesome! All of the characters look great and I like how we still have the black sun in the middle. Good work! Yeah, that cover is magnificent and I'm always indebted for the work that Ramon produces for me and for the site! Glad you liked it and I'll see you next time!

This is a massive celebration of the DC2niverse as Brandon dubbed it, and I intend to make sure no stone is left unturned. I'm trying to ensure that every character that appears means something, and isn't just thrown in, but the Teen Titans play a massive role in #5, Aquaman is going to make you cheer in #3 and the DC2 Nemesis Prologue: Aquaman book (Pat and I agree that 2009 will be the Year of Aquaman), and The Ray will eventually make his grand appearance, and if he's coming, then the Justice Society can't be far behind! Also expect to see The Flash step up in a major way, as well as the Marvel Family (so excited about that) and so many more. Now, if only I can work the Challengers of the Unknown in, then I'll be a happy bunny... My only quibble is this story is working too hard at forced Morrisonisms (last month it was the space whales, this month it's the nonsense phrase "from beneath reality" or some such--- what does that mean, anyway? There's no way to tell! Thus it is Morrisonian) This point is why I'm answering feedback so early in the books release... I will reveal what "beneath reality" means very soon, and in fact there was a scene that I cut from #1 involving Zauriel and the Architects of Creation that cleared a lot of that up, but thought it was unnecessary for that narrative at that point. I promise, everything will be revealed!! Don inspired me with a brilliant concept when it comes to where the villain of the piece is from (The Black Sun is not the villain. I promise you that.) and like I said, everything will be revealed! Nice to see Jason Todd finally surfacing! Can we expect a DC2 version of a Battle for the Cowl between him and Dick? DC2 Nemesis Prologue: The Dark Knight and upcoming issues of Batman and Detective Comics. Also, tentatively, #6 of this event. Jason will make a huge splash in the DC2 (I'm disappointed I couldn't work that pun into my Aquaman cheerleading) and this is only the beginning. The sense of foreboding continues to grow: Superman is taken out (by Swamp Thing, no less!), Batman investigates the Circle, and Wonder Woman shows why she is more of a badass than either of them. The lasso scene... gave me the shakes writing it. And Swamp Thing! Yes! Interesting character to use, and you'll see more about what's going on with that story thread in DC2 Nemesis Prologue: Batman, out next week along with The Dark Knight! I'm really surprised by the amount of shilling I'm doing, by the way. It's fantastic! This is clearly a set-up issue (and there is nothing wrong with that, as every good story needs a set-up--- I hate when people dismiss an issue as "set-up"), but there are some really cool things going on, and I get the feeling stuff is going to hit the fan next month! Yes, I was worried that readers might think I lost some momentum with this issue, but the Swamp Thing battle heats up next month, something awful goes down and is it a spoiler to say... the Black Sun rises? Well if it is, apologies in advance Now, bring on the prologues (interlogues? maybe just call them tie-ins ). Ah, the idea with the Prologues was that they slipped into the main narrative seamlessly, so whilst they're not exactly... coming out before, they still fit really well in the overarching story. See you later, sir!

High marks for Jason Todd/Zauriel, and of course, Terra/BB/Dr. Caulder. Of course he wanted her to join DP. What else would he do? Heheh.
Where are you, Ray?
Looking forward to the Batman and Dark Knight tie ins!

No doubt about it, Charlie, this is your baby and you are nuturing it and allowing it to grow beautifully!
Wasn't a weak part to the story at all, for me. Though I will have to admit that the scene with Gar and Caulder was probably my favorite. Pitch perfect!
Amazing cover too!
Between the story itself and all the comments you're making, this has become number one in my must read. 5 well earned stars, my friend!

No doubt about it, Charlie, this is your baby and you are nuturing it and allowing it to grow beautifully! I'm glad you think so. Currently putting the finishing touches to #3 before I send it off to the editor, and I'm hoping that the next instalment lives up to expectations! Wasn't a weak part to the story at all, for me. Though I will have to admit that the scene with Gar and Caulder was probably my favorite. Pitch perfect! I'm glad you thought so on that, too! The Chief is one of my favourite characters to write, and he was a blast to write here too. He's one of my go-to-guys when it comes to superhero science, one of the trinity I bring in whenever something bad goes down (Palmer, McNider and Caulder). Hopefully Dave won't kill him anytime soon... Totally. Between the story itself and all the comments you're making, this has become number one in my must read. 5 well earned stars, my friend! Thank you! It's great to hear that, and I hope the rubber stamp of high standard you've given this holds true till the final issue (which looks to be... #7 or #8, depending on how the narrative unfolds) and that the tie-ins draw you in too. Cheers, Brian!

I'm glad I have your approval, Jay, those were some of the funner scenes to write, including the Justice League briefing, and everything matters, so keep paying attention! Keep following Batman in the story, and also read DC2 Nemesis: Whatever Happened To The Ray?, coming in a few months, written by myself and Brian, with a cover by Boris, for the answer to all the questions you might be asking. Looking forward to the Batman and Dark Knight tie ins! Me too! Can't wait to see what you think of the tie-ins not written by me!

I realise I'm credited on the issue, but to be honest, that's a bit misleading, because while I can't speak for the others credited, all I did was give feedback and some limited advice to the one-man concept machine that is Charlie, and do a bit of editing. So I don't have to feel bad in reviewing the issue even though my name is on it, because that's just Charlie being benificent. I'm going to state my problem first, because otherwise it'll just be a continuous run of praise with a poor ending. This issue maintains the only real problem I have with the main series at this point; the pacing. To me, it still feels quite slow and laboured. I realise the pieces are being put into place, but after so many months of build-up, it just feels like we should be further along than we are now. Other than that, I have very little to complain about with the actual writing. Charlie's prose is an eternal work in progress, seeming to get better with each issue (And considering how good it was when I joined the DC2, that's something!). The plotting is on a truly vast scale, leaping between the JL with Swamp Thing to Zauriel and Jason to Batman to.... you get the picture. The ease with which the transitions are done is something a lot of crossover writers in the real DCU could learn from. And the many, many competing subplots are all juggled skillfully. I know where all this is going of course, due to my conversations with Charlie. Which I actually really regret because my contribution has been neglible, but those conversations now mean that I can't indulge in the wonderful mysteries Charlie's stting up. On the other hand, maybe it's for the best, because I know how good things are going to get. The cover? Wow. Just. Wow. So overall, it's a very solid issue, but the pacing does undermine the excellent plot and prose. Maybe it's just that I know so much good stuff is coming that I can't wait to get to it. 4 stars, well done guys!

So I don't have to feel bad in reviewing the issue even though my name is on it, because that's just Charlie being benificent. If you insist! But Kevin, you've been intergral in developing this event, and it wouldn't be where it is today without your help, as well as others mentioned repeateldy in credits throughout the event's progression. A problem I'm well aware of, and am actively working to rectify. Hopefully future issues will pick up the pace, and I know that #4 just gets... insane. Other than that, I have very little to complain about with the actual writing. Charlie's prose is an eternal work in progress, seeming to get better with each issue (And considering how good it was when I joined the DC2, that's something!). You're really too, too kind. Embarrasingly kind. All these characters are so fun to use that it's just damn hard to stop at using, say, Batman. Why stop at Batman when you can use Nightwing, why stop at Nightwing when you can use the Teen Titans? Everyone's connected in this universe, and that's one of the things I'm trying to show. Hopefully everyone's favourite character gets a show in before this event is finished... any requests? I know where all this is going of course, due to my conversations with Charlie. Which I actually really regret because my contribution has been neglible, but those conversations now mean that I can't indulge in the wonderful mysteries Charlie's stting up. On the other hand, maybe it's for the best, because I know how good things are going to get. I've always struggled to write mysteries, and I'm hoping that this grand, massive, universe wide story works in that context. I know that the genre engine keeps shifting gears with each issue. We've got mystery, horror, the supernatural, science fiction, drama, comedy, and in #5 the beginning of my favourite running plot thread... the chase... I just hope that the change in tone and all the plots running side by side don't bog down the narrative. Just wow? Minimalist So overall, it's a very solid issue, but the pacing does undermine the excellent plot and prose. Maybe it's just that I know so much good stuff is coming that I can't wait to get to it. 4 stars, well done guys! Right, thanks for the feedback, I do value it, and hopefully I can build on what I've done already with your critique! It always means a lot, boss!
