I guess I'll be first then.
Nice to see Jim Harper get his chance to shine again after those early days of Action. I'm kind of sad to see the relationship between him and Maggie Sawyer possibly come to a end but perhaps that still remains in the cards somewhere down the line?
I'm kind of curious about this new Global Peace Agency and I'm wondering if we'll see Buddy show up at some point or OMAC v2.0. The Tokyo branch was a nice touch with the homage to the giant monster movies of the 50s and 60s. No way did I see the Starro happening and the implications of it are horrifying.
However, I love the return of everyone's favorite bizarre dysfunctional DEO agents, Travis and Bill. I always get a kick out of those two but the humor certainly came to an end when the bullets started to fly. Makes you wonder how much of their prattle is just an act and how much is just an attempt to stay sane considering what they have to deal with.
And that opening was chilling. I'm wracking my brains trying to figure out who it might be but, like Harper, I'm drawing blanks. I guess I'll be along for the ride to find out!

I guess I'll be first then. And I appreciate it very much! Nice to see Jim Harper get his chance to shine again after those early days of Action. Always had long term plans for the character but never had the time to deliver upon them. Action Comics was the start, with the Escape to Krypton back-up Roy and I came up with, and then he rolled into the main title and I failed on delivering on the promise I had for the intended character arc. Then with his inclusion in Secret Society of Super Villains I had to continue his story because Don, Ramon and I came up with so many cool stories to tell that it would have been a crime not to! I'm kind of sad to see the relationship between him and Maggie Sawyer possibly come to a end but perhaps that still remains in the cards somewhere down the line? Perhaps. He'll always hold Maggie in high regard, but it was never going to work between them-- especially since I think she broke up with him. That's how I see it, anyway. Lot of homages were paid with this issue, though a lot of them are mostly because I love the source material-- Planetary, for one, is one of the series/organisations that inspired this iteration of the Global Peace Agency. I'm glad you enjoyed the Tokyo stuff, it was fun to write, and fun to research. However, I love the return of everyone's favorite bizarre dysfunctional DEO agents, Travis and Bill. The thing is, I know that most member of on site don't like these guys. Ramon and I had big ideas for them, as ever, but we never delivered. There was a DEO title in the works, but we never got round to it. We forced the characters into titles, and it didn't work, so this was an opportunity to take them to the place we wanted them to be in back when they first appeared. Parring them back to how they worked, and also putting them in a situation where they could shine. They'll be appearing sporadically through the series, and will play a pivotal role in the game-changing #4. I'm psyched to write it ;D And that opening was chilling. Nice first issue Charlie. Nice to see the Guardian getting some of the spotlight after his awesome appearance in SSOV. Nice moments in the beginning with Jim and Maggie and the giant atomic powered and tentacle monsters are very fitting for the Japanese backdrop that served as the battleground for the isse.
Like James, I liked the interactions with the agents in this issue. Though I'm not really familiar with them, they came to life and were enjoyable. Lots of mystery as to who is the big bad of this story. I'm never any good at guessing them, but i will be back to see how things unfold.

To be fair, after writing The Guardian's thread through Secret Society of Super Villains, I just couldn't see how he couldn't spin off into his own series. Mini or ongoing, I knew I had to do it. I went with mini though, to force myself to write the best of the character within a shorter period of time. It helps that I get to get the old Doctor Occult band back together though! Always do my best work with these guys! Starro was a late development-- I knew what I wanted to do, and I knew I wanted to tie this horrific mad science into the DC2, so what better way than by using the Star Conquerer? And there'll be more from ol' Starro in another title on site, very soon... Like James, I liked the interactions with the agents in this issue. I'm never any good at guessing them, but i will be back to see how things unfold. The Big Bad is going to be teased throughout the series, but there are some big hints laid out next issue.
