Shocking yet obvious ending, an obvious cliche yet spun into something new to keep it from turning into yet another "oh i knew this was going to happen" ending. the bit about the oath being something that is a chore, not a duty was interesting, and shows how the GLC are viewed in the future. I'll pick up the next issue.

Great read, Scott! Yeah, I kind of saw it coming too, but that didn't stop it from having the emotional kick. In fact, sometimes knowing it's coming makes it even sadder. Can't wait for the conclusion!!!

Like Serenity when you knew someone was going to die (every big Joss Whedon fight has casualties) and when it happened on Mr Universe's planet...
I near cried for that guy...

Great work! Loved especially Vidar's descriptions of Honolulu -- sounds like the place has become in the 30th century like Mackinac Island is here in Michigan: frozen in time, with as little "modern" intrusions as possible. I don't care, personally, that I know the outcome of this story, I still want to see it unfold!

And you will see it unfold next week! I agree it was an obvious outcome in this issue... Vidar does become Universo after all, we all know that! With this mini-series I'm exploring what it would take to push a noble, yet un-guided (not misguided) being over the edge and ultimately lead to the creation of Universo. This is only his first step... OK, perhaps it's more like a giant leap.
More on the psychology of the character in the next lettercol... speaking of which:
The next issue I hope to throw you all for a bit of a loop. Things happen... big things that will resonate through the 30th & 31st centuries for quite some time.
