What's a JSA story without some connection to Dr. Fate. It was a very good read. Loved the Prologue. Very nice interior art from Jim. 4 stars

Great issue!
Ah, nothing like a good-ol' fashioned super-brawl. This was some good stuff.
Heh, I knew it! I knew one of them was the new Starman.
Starman: What do you want, man? A medal?
Solomon Grundy: Solomon Grundy want pants.
Tigress: Grundy, we keep telling you this. You have pants.
Hmmm, the bit with Shade and Obsidian makes me wonder. I hope Todd don't get manipulated into joining the bad guys.
Shade: You have no idea of the power of the Dark Side.
Ragdoll: He's doing the Darth Vader bit again.
The bit with Tigress and Wildcat was also interesting. Nothing like family angst.
Fiddler: We should put them on Springer. It'd be good for a laugh.
Tigress: You actually watch that garbage?
Fiddler: I like that show! I'm old! Gimme a break!
The interior art was sweet, too. Love to see more of it.
Atomika: They really got my good side.
Solomon Grundy: Solomon Grundy want pants.
Atomika: *groans*
Can't wait for more!

What's a JSA story without some connection to Dr. Fate. A Batman story? Unless Charlie is writing it, then there probably is a Dr. Fate connection! Thank you, Riz! You'll see more of Rick next issue. It is a gift to be working with Jim on this title, and definately part of the attraction for me. And I know the best is yet to come. Special thanks to Riz for being my #1 utility go-to guy (both last issue and this time), in helping to get the covers ready for posting (and for designing that slick new logo). Thank you for the feedback!

Great issue! Ah, nothing like a good-ol' fashioned super-brawl. This was some good stuff. Couldn't agree more! I realized a long time ago you need quite a few pages to do those justice, too . The most fun parts are building in the character bits. I thought for sure that mystery was spoiled by his appearance in Gotterdammerung (admittedly, a story set in the future, but still in-continuity). LOL! Better characterization of Grundy than I did! Obsidian, by the very nature of his powers, is a complex character, and I hope to explore that in this series. His character arc will really delve into what it means to be a hero. Glad you liked it. This is another story arc that will go in a fun direction--- don't forget, Tigress is a legacy herself, and it's been a long time since there was a Hun tress on the JSA... Atomika is all good side--- at least as drawn by Jim (and in her debut by Riz). BTW, this is the debut of Jo's new costume, designed to tie her a little closer to her father's legacy. Thanks, l1701e! Exalt to you for feedback that always make me chuckle! ;D

All I can say is that Ramon and I still have interest in returining to the title. There is a whole lot of awesome left to tell. It is not defunct! A new issue will appear. Sometime in 2008.

I honestly don't know what to say. Twenty copied pages of one huge and glorious battle that felt like the perfect love child of the Golden Age and The Now.
Not one missed beat in this pitched battle. Characters were so dead on, it would make Johns envious. You blended the new and the old so seemlessly that even Johns could take some notes.
The art was awesome, and I especially liked the Starman pic at the end. I was suprised at who Starman was, actually, but that was probably just wishful thinking.
Although all of it was A number 1, the Wildcat scene's and the Obsidean scene's were my favorite, and I anxiously await what you are going to do next with both of these characters. Especially with The Shade.
Great. Outstanding. Super. Brilliant. I can't say enough. But than, I can never find enough great words when it comes to the love of these characters.
5 more than well deserved stars.

Good stuffs. The Ragdoll and Hourman bit was brilliant, as well as the entirety of the superhero fight. Ted came back to life (What a tweest?) and is still dealing with the whole daughter issue, which is interesting. Obsidian may be turning evil, which is always a blast. And, of course, Gentleman Ghost and Black Adam is action is never a bad thing.
Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Keep it up.

I really appreciate your feedback, and your enthusiasm for this title. We haven't seen the last of the Shade in these pages, and I promise that Obsidian's story is just beginning, too. While Jack Knight is more of a charactery-character, I hope to develop David into a Starman people will want to read about, too. While this title is, by definition, about Golden Age heroes, it will be very much driven by the younger generation, and David will be a significant part of that. Thanks for reading!

I like to think I can write a good battle scene.
Then Idlewilder reminds me how it's done.
High marks for Atomika, Wildcat, Hourman, Sandman, and of course my boys Alan and the Ray.
Five freakin stars.

I'm WAY behind on my reading on the site... and finaly having some time during lunch I wanted to tackle this one.
This issue was an excellent blend of action and exposition. Talky in parts (that's a GOOD thing BTW) and action packed in others. You have a VERY soild hold over the team dynamic. It's a big cast but you handle them all very well. The danger that the team faced comes across... especially in the Hourman prolouge.
I'm quite impressed with the way the first two issues have gone. The dialouge snaps well and the descriptive parts make it easy to imagine the scenes. The characterization is spot on. You make it easy to enjoy this book.
The artwork is excellent also and I very much like the way you have an image at the end of each issue.
The prologe felt kind of like the beginning of a LOST or Battlestar Galactica episode where you get a section before the opening title/credits.
The only (mild) issue I have is that the younger woman of the group seem to kind of blend together. They seem almost as if they're the same character just with different names.
Aside from that, just a great job. Looking forward to more.

I'm WAY behind on my reading on the site... and finaly having some time during lunch I wanted to tackle this one. Thanks very much, Pat! I appreciate you taking the time to not only read the issue, but to tell me what you thought of it! Wow! Thanks! Comments like that make it easy for me to write it! Thatis what Jim is all about: a committment to making each and every issue of this title something special! LOL! It's a tricky, cinematic device that I've promised myself not to overdo--- I only use it for JSA. I think that's a fair criticism, seeing as how Jo, Jennie-Lynn, Jesse and Deanna are all relatively new to the DC2 (and one of them brand new altogether!), and really haven't had the time to develop unique voices yet. But never fear: I have some neat character-arcs planned for each and every one of them (some of which are already in motion), so hopefully they will become more and more distinct with every issue. Then look no further than April 16th, when JSA #3 posts, and brings the Injustice Society storyline to a big finish! Thanks again for the feedback!

This issue was a treat from start to finish. I was looking forward to catching up on this title so I could read #3. I thought I would have to go back and read #1 but surprisingly I remembered it quiet well. Complete credit goes to solid writing and memorable characters there.
The battle royal was top notch and paced beautifully. Loved the opening scene before the credits because it felt like a great television program. I was humming an imaginary theme song as I read through the roll call. I did have a big problem with that but I will mention it later on.
The cover was amazing. Jim will always be one of my one of my favs so seeing his work here is always a treat. Loved the Grundy/ Atomika and Starman bonus pics at the end too!
Loved the Wildcat scene with Tigress. Ted is one smooth cat. “That’s enough of that, missy,” Good stuff. Plus mentioning that Tigress did a stint on the Squad was too cool. Being a continuity guy I love to see our shared universe overlap where events in one book are.....wait....All I really care about was the the Suicide Squad was mentioned in classy title for a change! ;D
Too many other fun things to mention....the Shade being smooth in ways not seen since James Robinson wrote him.....The mystery of Wizards agenda......Grundy going rocket-man courtesy of Atomika....Captain Marvel versus Adam....and the freakin' helmet of Fate!
OK, on to the things that bugged me. I never read the letter response to an issue before I read it (if I can help it). That way I can usually avoid any spoilers before I have a chance to read the issue. But in this case you reveal who Starman in the roll call before it is revealed in the story (as well as Black Adam). Now it wasn't the biggest spoiler of all time because I knew it wouldn't be Jack because any fan of James Robinson's perfect Starman series would know Jack would never wear the costume of his father. So that only left David. But given his fate in that series it will be interesting to see what happens with him here.
So with that little nitpick out of the way...I gladly dish out another 5 star rating to another outstanding issue.
On to #3 tomorrow night.

I thought I would have to go back and read #1 but surprisingly I remembered it quiet well. Complete credit goes to solid writing and memorable characters there. Thanks a lot for saying that, John! Honestly, I think it's as much a testament to these characters who have endured for nearly 70 years now that it is still fun to write and read about them! Hmmm... A theme song... Anybody else watch the HBO series John Adams (first rate TV, highly recommended!)? I mention it because I was thinking to myself, as I was watching the last episode last night, that the magisterial opening theme was a terrific theme for the JSA... Me, too! You know how certain artist's styles are suited to certain subjects...? Jim is uniquely suited to JSA! I love the stuff he is doing in this title, and very much look forward to seeing more from him! Ha! And here I was thinking the Squad was classin' my joint up...! (For what it's worth, there's another Squad shout-out coming in #4 ) I am particularly proud of that Shade scene. I love the Robinson stuff, but c'mon: the Shade is a villain! Maybe an ethical (?) one, but an enemy nonetheless! Umm... Oops! The roll call was added after the issue had been posted for a few weeks, and should not have included the spoiler (it's fixed now--- thanks for the head's-up); I have a master-list roll-call I copied and pasted, and thought I removed all members not yet intro'd--- but (and just like that time when I was nine ;D) I was wrong ! Sorry for the spoiler, sir! Dy-no- mite! I'll take it! One more, and Mark's gotta give me a raise! ;D Thanks for the feedback, Elbe!
