I just want to take a moment here and offer my sincere gratitude to Riz for stepping in and delivering a fantastic cover, that--- as is always the case with this artist--- exceeded my expectations.
We started this gig together back in All-Star Comics Annual #1, and I couldn't be happier to have you onboard as JSA cover artist, my friend!

What a great way to tell a story. Although not a new concept in the least, if done right, it's extremly affective, and this was done right, and then some!
The Fourth Riech is a looming out there like a tornado cloud ready to land, and I can't wait for the destruction that's going to follow.
Every character was well defined and there's some very "cool" relationships blooming. Do I detect a bit of Sam and Diane in Ray and Icicle? Maybe... ?
Favorite moment had to be the brief spotlight on Obsidian. He seems a bit uncomfortable, and that was very well written here.
Also feel sorry for David Knight. Twice he went to help a teammate and twice he was stopped. He's obviously coping with his new found poistion.
An awesome cover has capped off another enjoyable and five star issue.

Since this was a WLEX station, I kept waiting for it to turn into an attack piece, even though Lex is gone and heroes are (mostly) supported by the populace of the DC2niverse. I'm not saying that it should have been such, mind; I'm pleasantly surprised.
The "we were villains five minutes ago" scenario is very familiar to me, indeed.
I think Power Girl will be along sooner rather than later!
Like the opening description of the HQ, too.

Hey guys! Heh heh, another great issue. It was well worth the wait. I liked seeing the Infinitors hang out together. That was neat. I got a chuckle out of Artemis. Artemis: *flips off Ray*
Ray: Do that again, and I'll blast it off.
Artemis: *blinks. Smirks and flips Ray off again*
Ray: That's it! (ZORT!)
Artemis: AAAAAAAH! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! AHHHHHHHH!
Todd: Well, whaddaya know? He actually did it.
Jade: I'll get Doctor Mid-Nite.
Cameron: Artemis, apply pressure to the wound! Somebody find the finger and put it in some ice!Poor Bulleteer. I hope she manages to get herself together again. Bulleteer: I still don't get why Dr. Fate can't just magically fix up my arm.
Dr. Fate: I'll becme too much of a deus ex machina and fans will complain.
Cameron: And the readers saw a reason why I hate WLEX's documentaries.I liked the fact that used a documentary to set this issue up. I oughta do some of that in my fics. I was surprised that a company owned by Lex actually tried to make the JSA look GOOD. But then again, ol' Baldy hasn't been seen in a while doing who knows what. Lex Luthor: I'm cooking up my latest scheme to kill Superman! What do you THINK I've been doing since then, you nitwit?!
Alan: *shoves Lex away* This isn't your book, Luthor! Go back to Action!
Wildcat: Great glare, Ma. You got 'em spooked.Oh, wow! You guys brought in Robotman and Michael Holt? Cool! Is Mr. Holt going to take up a certain legacy? Cameron: *grins at Robotman* Danger, Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!
Robotman: Ah yes, that one NEVER GETS OLD!
Michael Holt: *looks up at the Mr. Terrific statue* Hmmm...Ho-ho! The Fourth Reich! Tell me, you guys got ideas from reading Geoff's stuff, huh? Artemis: Next, they'll bring in that Citizen Steel guy. Sheesh.
Cameron: Or the werecat Wildcat.I have to agree with the Ray. Wildcat is awesome. [/i]Ray: I wouldn't mess with a guy who had bird wings, a hawk helmet, and a big effing mace. Hawkman: I got a war hammer in my collection, too. I have some fond memories of cracking skulls with that hammer during a medieval battle... *smiles fondly* Cameron: Wuss. Hawkman: You want a piece of me, boy? I'll knock you flat. Cameron: You don't scare me! I'll freeze you so fast, your skin'll fall off, ya overgrown chicken! Hawkman: * POW!* Cameron: AHHHHHHH! MY NOSE! HE BROKE MY NOSE! Ray: I'll get Doctor Mid-Nite...[/i] Hmm, Peege and Steel from Powers, Inc being offered membership, huh? Rick: I hope Peege joins.
Cameron: ;D Yeah, me too.
Jesse: Which one of 'em do you wanna beat up?
Artemis: *shrugs* I'll beat up mine. You can beat up yours if you want.
Jade: We should stop them.
Obsidian: After I finish my popcorn. *holds up a big cup of popcorn* It could be a while. Hey Jo, you got the camera? We'll put the fight on YouTube.I think it's very said poor Johnny, Mr. Terrific, and the Freedom Fighters got forgotten like that. I hope you guys do something about it! Can't wait for more!

What a great way to tell a story. Although not a new concept in the least, if done right, it's extremly affective, and this was done right, and then some! Glad you liked it, Brian. The nice think about this concept is that it allowed me to frame the story with a bunch of different vignettes that were, on the whole, mostly unrelated, and then tie them together with the younger members watching it on the TV. That storm is gonna break soon, so batten down the hatches! LOL! Well, Ray is a cocky hothead, and Icicle is a snide jerk, so what you can expect is a lot of further tension... Thanks. I look forward to really digging into Obsidian's story, as he has a pretty neat character arc building (if I may be so bold to say so myself). David is the avergae joe (though a brilliant scientist!) who became a superhero, and is going to have a lot to cope with. Remember, he still has an estranged little brother out there... Incidentally, to find out if Starman gets the girl, you need look no further than Gotterdammerung , my 12-issue mini chronicling the dark future of the DC2--- a new issue to post very soon (shameless plug ;D)! Thank you very much, sir! Riz never ceases to amaze and delight!

I'm not saying that it should have been such, mind; I'm pleasantly surprised. Well, actually, I had changed the call-letters to WGBS, as a nod to Alan's old employer--- but I posted the wrong version (nothing else had changed from one version to the other, ; one was on my laptop, one my desktop--- I just posted the wrong one). Look for me to retcon that out soon! Thought you might appreciate the Belle Reve mention. Well, that had been the intention, however there are big plans in the works that involve that character, and a certain forthcoming title called--- Oops ! Sorry! Ramon, Charlie and Chris (hint! hint!) say I can't talk about that yet ...! Thanks, Jay! And thanks for reading and the feedback!

Hey, l1701e! Always brings a smile to my face to see your feedback! Thank you kindly for saying so, sir! I wanted to focus on the younger members a little more this issue as they might be the characters the readers need to be "sold-on"--- after all, everyone already knows Alan, Jay and Carter, right? What? You want to see more Alan, Jay and Carter? Okay, you got it! The older JSAers got more of the spotlight next issue in a story that can only be called: "Rampage of the Sky Pirate!" (See, even Golden Age villains have legacies to pass on!) LOL! Please see above comment: WLEX is now WGBS (my bad)! Only time will tell if Michael Holt fulfills the destiny of his DCU version. What I can tell you is that he will be around for a while! As for Robotman, he was always one of my favorite All-Star Squadron members, and he deserved to be taken out of mothballs. Look for him to take an important role in a big storyline that has been brewing since before Issue #1! Actually, I had something like this planned prior to Johns' superlative JSofA relaunch last year--- however I will say that his Fourth Reich characters were too good not to be incorporated (hey, this is fan fiction after all ;D). I've tweaked the idea a bit, and expanded on it, and hope to give my readers a fun ride. In fact, next issue, you'll see a JSAer tangle with a a member of the Fourth Reich--- the JSAer who was conspicuously absent this issue, as a matter of fact (Hawkman alluded to it in the meeting scene with General Harrigan). And unfortuanteyl, no, don't expect to see Tommy Bronson or a Citizen Steel in these pages antime soon... Ray: I'll get Doctor Mid-Nite...[/i][/quote] It's no secret I have man-love for Hawkman; in fact there just may be a trip to Thanagar in the JSA's future... Alas! See my comment in the post above regarding plans for Power Girl (and Commander Steel, incidentally). As a matter of fact, the story of the Freedom Fighters is coming up in Justice Society of America Annual #1, slated for early next year! As for Johnny Thunder--- well, I've had something in the works on that front since October of 2006 (now all one has to do is find out what issue I wrote that posted in October of 2006, read it, and put two and two together! Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!)... Thanks for reading, and for the feedback, l1701e!

Oooh, ooh! I know what issue posted in Octboer 2006! ;D Neat little story here, with the documentary and all. I liked what you did in the Hall of Fallen Heroes -- now I see why you dropped me a line about it a while back -- though it's kind of strange to hear them talk about the SSoV as being dead with their miniseries halfway done. Of course, Batman's still alive in that as well, so it's weird all around there... Bulleteer doesn't want to be a hero anymore? After getting trounced by Black Adam like that, I can't blame her. And I liked the bit about inviting Power Girl in, saying it would "cosmically balance" things...what origin are we using for her again, anyhow? I can't keep track. Somebody turn a hose on Jesse and David!

Oooh, ooh! I know what issue posted in Octboer 2006! ;D I'm impressed! Did you do some detective work, or did it jump right out at you? I think that may have been the most fun scene to write, and connecting the mini to an ongoing title just seemed like a fun thing to do. Also, anyone spot Hawkman in that scene? LOL! The events of the Seven Soldiers mini must happen before the recent turmoil in Gotham. Power Girl's origin story is still forthcoming! Look for her in the pages of--- (Oh. I still can't talk about our top-secret project yet, Ramon, Charlie and Chris?) Stay tuned! Ah, young love. I'm looking forward to writing the "meet the parents" scene on that one... Thanks for reading, and for the feedback, Susan!

Nope, no detective work here, I just remember certain events from All-Star Annual #1. You promised that something would come of that eventually, so I guess "eventually" will be happening soon. Aaaaand...Hawkman was in front of the statue of Hawkwoman, but he moved away when he saw the camera. Gonna take a while for that heart to heal, I figure.

Whilst I'm not a fan of following trends in comics proper into fan fiction, you've certainly taken what's supposedly the best of the new Justice Society of America book into consideration when writing this title! You're bulking up the cast every issue, and after what I thought was a lackluster first arc (too many similarities with Robinson/Goyer/John's Injustice For All arc on the previous JSA launch, among others) this was a pretty efficient stand alone story, whilst continuing to lay seeds, we had a moment of calm. Before the storm, perhaps?
Enjoyed the 'guided tour' format of the documentary because, simply, I like knowing where things are, and detailed prose allows this to come through. I like to see what other writers think Gotham looks like, or Metropolis, and as we don't have artists to present our visions, then words will always have to do. An academy, eh? Well, this could be interesting, a different course than the JSA book in the DCproper, but still bringing in the new recruits.
Next issue should be interesting, because I do love a look into the psyche of villains, but the thing I'm most looking forward to is a certain crossover with another book you write...

Wow! Thanks, Joey! I love it when artists leave feedback in a creative fashion. This is a beautiful illustration of a scene from issue one. I especially love your rendering of Hawkman! I am very flattered and grateful you cared enough to bring my words to life.

BRILIANT BRILIANT BRILLIANCE!!! THATS AALL I HAVE TO SAY ON THISS ISSUE!!!!
no but really, another excelent issue, very reminiscent of those old school issues of xmen where they play baseball, or the aavengers where we have a look behind the scenes at the avengers parade(during perez and waid's run) i loved those isssues, they are what got me into comics and hooked me even now!!!
i just have to say, congratulations, you made a potentialy mind numbingly boring thing sound interesting, a fricking description oif a building, you did this with so much ease it scares me, are you sure that you arent geoff johns replacement on justice society!!!(how cool would this be!!!)
i loved the premise, the look behind the scenes, the way you gave us a perfect mix between tv show aand the team interacting, love that you showed the vulnerability of deanna, and i love the psychological effects of her current state, awesome way of looking at things!! and i love that nobody seemed to be aware she was taking things so hard, a reminder that thiss team is new to each other, and that they arent even necessarily all friends, which is how it should be. thiss is a team, you dont even all have to like each other, but you are bound by circumstance to work together and learn to respect aand care about each other, this issue served to show that the team is not quite there yet, but they are getting there!!
loved the intro of commander steel and powergirl, again pitch perfect characterisation for both characters, you get this spot on time after time, i am soooo envious of your talent!! wish i had your ability for writing!!!
i loved the reaction to todds powers, and PLEASEEE dont make him evil as he has been before...or even worse...straight! haha i kid, but pleae, no evil!!(and alive would be great too!!!)
i just need to ask, the mansion, is thiss a jsa thing or a reference to xmen? if it iss a reference to xmen i found this quite funny, if not, i have no idea what im talking about!!!
also, excelent foreshadowing on the fourth reich, i have a feeling these might play into your work at some point...hmmmm(you are gunna love my baroness design by the way!!)!!!
also the introduction of the support staff, dr midnight, mighael holt, beth chapel(maybe she should have to pilot the helicoptor on the roof at some point...???hmmm???huh what???)
anyway, i think this issue is really important, it allowed a welcome break from the high octane action of the previous couple of issues, sometimes its nice to just take a step back, and get down to some stuff that we hadnt gotten to before!!! loved ma hucknel, can she not be upgraded to full membership retroactively, for a lifetime of servicce> i can just imagine her being so proud!!!(maybe you can do a baackup one month where all of the jsa'er are out, and its up to ma hucknel, beth chapel, robot man, michael holt and any other support staff that we have on hand have to save the day? i for one would love this!!
love the budding relationships within the team, the comparison between icicle and tigress(who i LOVE!!! she has just the right amount of sass for me thankyou very much!!), and jesse and hourman, and david fauning over bulleteer, and the friendship between todd and david, with jenny tagging in as an anchor for the team- i think the bonds are strengthening quite a bit!!
next issue please!!!!! cant wait!!!!
also fantastic cover, as an artist i think artistss can be overlooked in this respect, the cover is briliant, the partial image is exactly what is needed metaphorically and does an awesome job!!!!

And I know what you mean about these types of stories, I like 'em, too. Wolfman and Perez did them better than just about anybody, and Brian is the modern master of them here on the DC2. You gotta do them every once in a while, I figure, especially between big storylines. Thank you very much for the kind words! This was an especially fun issue to write; the little moments really define these characters who are usually involved in so much larger than life circumstances. And Didio asked, but I can't afford the pay cut . Check out coming installments of Young All-Stars for more on that front! Thank you, sir! I love these characters, so I'm glad that comes through for others. Evil, straight and alive... Well, two out of three ain't bad! Kidding! (Or am I?) (I am ). Obsidian's story explodes in Young All-Stars soon... and perhaps the answers are not as simple as good and evil, alive or dead, gay or straight. The house belongs to Carter Hall, and was first seen in Flash Comics #1, way back in 1940. Seemed like a natural place outside the city for the JSA to use as a retreat. I'm not entirely unaware of the X-Mansion similarities (however unintentional), though my only real X-Men expossure comes from one comic 25 yeras ago, where Kitty fights an alien Brood using the mansion as her only weapon (and, of course, the movies) Oh, the Fourth Reich is coming--- and the JSA thought the last war was tough...! We have not heard the last of Beth Chapel, for sure. Thanks for noticing! The neat thing about this cast is there is so much story to be told with them. It's a safe bet you just may get your wish in one way or another . That's going to be the most interesting thing about the Young All-Stars, the interplay between heroes just starting out, the loves and rivalries and friendships. Well, luckily, you have a few backissues to tide you over ;D. Riz came in at the last minute and bailed me out again with a fantastic image. He really did pull out all the stops on that one! Thanks very much for reading, Jamie, and for the thoughtful feedback! Very appreciated!
