another great, great issue!
The opening scene alone was more than worth the price of admission and set up some nice forboding for the future, but the moment with Sandman at the end... classic!
Nothing like a good cat fight to get the blood pumping (just ask Cameron! ;D). Some very interesting developments for both Artemis and Jesse.
Still, I'm watching my favorite, Obsidian, closely, cause I've already got a bad feeling about this.
Oh, and boy do I love pirates! Ray be brash, but somebody needs to tell him that is rhymes with rash.
Excellent ending. Tight. Well written issue. It's the reason I read David's stuff. The reason I'd read the phonebook if he wrote it. Cause he makes it that fun, and that interesting!
Excellent cover to boot, makes for a 5 star piece of perfection! Bravo!

another great, great issue! Why, thank you, sir! Glad you liked it (it was my favorite scene, actually). This particular subplot has been simmering since issue #1, and is starting to boil over. What is the Fourth Reich up to? Who is this new Fuhrer? What's on that train? How will Wes get out of this one in one piece?BTW, this is why the Sandman was not in the JSA Meeting last issue--- he was the agent Hawkman sent out after the Fourth Reich. Too true. This fight will have dire consequences for both Jo and Artemis. Glad you brought that up, Brian. I am committed to doing right by Obsidian, a character who's gotten short-shrift in the DCU proper (except in the excellent Manhunter), and I have a significant arc in progrees for him that, hopefully, will explode him as a breakout character in my titles. Titles? Hmmm... LOL! The Sky Pirate is an interesting concept, and one I will be using throughout my run on this title. This two-parter is the opening shot in his story--- there is more to the Sky Pirate than meets the eye (and the his roots in the Golden Age may run deeper than it first appears)! Alex showed up big time for his debut on this issue! I have been so lucky with my partners on this title, and Alex and I are excited about a long run on JSA--- he did a killer pic of Sandman that will we see next issue! Thank you very much, Brian, for reading and your generous feedback.

So many delays. I feel like i'm reading Ultimates again.
Despite this, I liked this issue. It reminds me of the current JSA series: there is a ridiculous amount of characters and yet the author manages to juggle them all over these issues.
When the series began, I wasn't the biggest fan of Atomika (Mostly because I was unfamiliar to the character) but this issue makes her shine. And where her story goes is something i'm interested in seeing (and am a little weirded out by).
Sky Pirate seems like a fun character. I enjoy reading flamboyant villains who turn out to be competent. It makes for a fight that's both good and funny.
And Obsidian is heading down a dark road. I'd love to see what he does there.
I'll be back for Issue 6, probably some time next year. Keep writing.

So many delays. I feel like i'm reading Ultimates again. LOL! Thanks for your patience and for sticking with us, UDC! My schedule has gotten increasingly more hectic, and I've lost two cover artists (and I will not put out an issue without a cover), but things look to be settling down now, as Alex and I are committed to a regular posting schedule (a combination of monthly, than a break, then monthly, etc). I appreciate the comparison! Like Johns, I really enjoy reading/writing about these guys, and I feel like a kid in a candy store, wanting a piece of each! In fact, look for the cast to grow--- but more on that next month! Very glad to hear Atomika is growing on people! She was a risky gamble, but she seems to be paying off in the long run. She's a DC2 original, but I think she fits in perfectly with the team. And I'm a little weirded out by her crush on Wildcat too, but--- hey, they're both (unrelated) adults! Let's see where this goes! You're gonna love next issue then! Because the fight with Sky Pirate will have serious consequences. Todd will undergo a test of character that will determine just where his soul belongs. It will not be an easy road. Will do! Thanks for the feedback, sir!

Hey guys! I loved this issue! It was really good as usual. I thought Atomika's crush on Wildcat was hilarious. I think it's very much like a crush one had on a teacher as a kid. Artemis: (singing) Jo loves Wildcat! Jo loves Wildcat!
Jo: (blushing) Shut uppppp...
Artemis: No offense, but I don't feel too comfortable having a stepmother who is close to me in age.
Jo: DIE! (tackles Artemis and starts a brawl)
David: CATFIGHT! CATFIGHT!
Cameron: Dammit! I gotta find that camera!
Jade: I'll get Dr. Mid-Nite...
Wildcat: Mahkent! Crock! Get in here and wash my socks!Hmm...Obsidian worries me. I hope his powers don't make him go bonkers. That's the last thing the JSA needs. Todd: *sitting on the floor in a straitjacket* Mars is amazing. Maaars is amaaaazing...
Cameron: His brain went to Mars, but it forgot to bring the rest of him along.
Todd: I'm Henry the Eighth, I am! I'm the Henry the Eighth, I am, I am, I am!Heh heh, the Sky Pirate. Is he a real Golden Age villain? Artemis: Seems to me he's taking advantage of the popularity of certain movies.
Jade: I likes me some Jack Sparrow. ;D
David: Kiera Knightley, yowzer. ;DHmmm...I wonder what those Fourth Reich guys are up to? Carter: They're Nazis, what do you think?
Alan: Too bad it isn't Grundy again. All we have to do with him is get him near a slacks store. They like pants.
Jay: Ted, do you have Icicle washing your socks again?
Ted: Yeah, why? Some hard work will do him good.
Ma Hunkel: So that explains the screaming.
Cameron: GET 'EM OFF! GET 'EM OFF! THEY'RE TRYING TO EAT ME! THESES ARE THE DEVIL'S SOCKS!Can't wait for more!

Hey guys! I loved this issue! It was really good as usual. Thanks, l1701e! I really appreciate you coming back issue after issue, and I do look forward to your feedback! LOL! That is exactly what this is! In eighth grade, I had such a crush on Sister Josephine (HEY! That's a coincidence! I wonder if it's a Freudian thing!)--- she was one of those New School nuns who didn't wear the full habit, listened to cool music, and seemed to always be in trouble with the administration. I actually had plans to expand this fight, but I am very concious of issue size: I like to keep them managable, and done in one reading. But in the unposted Editor's Cut, there is Jell-O involved, a camcorder, and an unfortunate youTube scandal that totally backfires on Icicle and Ray... You should be worried. I think it is safe to say, before this is all over, Todd will never be the same again... (Tee-hee-hee! I just love saying things to freak out Jay!) There was indeed a Golden Age Sky Pirate. He only appeared two or three times, and mostly fought Green Lantern. I think the only thime he actually fought the JSA itself was in the first few issues of All-Star Squadron. This new Sky Pirate, is another kettle of fish entirely. Not only does he carry on the legacy of the first bearer of the name, but he has ties to another Golden Age villain. We will definately see the Captain of the Aeronautilus again! Much murder, mischief and mayhem. And a good schnitzel. But who isn't. [/i] Can't wait for more![/quote] ;D Thanks for reading, and for the feedback, buddy!

The Sky Pirate is an awesome vllain! But you say there are serious consequences. At the moment, I'm more worried about that--and Bulleteer--than I am about Obsidian.
And of course the sandman, the nazi plot (and the multiplying henchmen) is fascinating....

I think it is safe to say that the JSA will not be the same at the end of next issue... Mwah-ha-ha-ha! Ah, yes, Der Sturmer! I am really looking forward to the storyline that is building with the Fourth Reich. These are some nasty folks, and you can bet it is going to get very ugly... Sandman getss up close and personal with a few of them next issue--- I hope he makes it off that train alive! (It's shameful what I'll do to get Jay coming back next issue!) Thank you for reading, sir, and for the feedback!

This may be the DC2 equivalent of the Ultimates (where as Gotterdammerung is like Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk), but like the first two volumes of the Ultimates (not the third, not a big fan of it) this is storytelling of the highest quality.
The Sandman scene was the best of the bunch in this issue. I can't wait to see what the Sky Pirate has in-store for our heroes. For someone who's been terrorizing NYC by stealing pearls and award winning malts, i'm expecting something outlandish and flamboyant. Cameron's reaction to Jo's and Artemis's fight was classic and i hope we see Bulleteer again.
I'm excited to see Obsidian's journey. Like others, he's a favorite of mine, and want to see where things take him. As for him to star in "titles", you can sign me up for that Dave.
Great Job as usual.

Thank you very much, partner! Now, I'm not quite up on the Marvel references, but I'll always prefer delays to putting out an inferior product. I'm very glad JSA seems to always measure up--- but I've just gotta say: You ain't seen nothing yet! Huge stuff coming down the line. Starting next issue as a matter of fact. Then you're gonna love next issue! The Fourth Reich is a menace unlike any the JSA has faced in, like, 63 years! It's fun to work with this character, as will become more evident next issue. There is more to the SKy Pirate than meets the eye... In a lot of ways, this title has been all about the Infinitors and the younger JSAers (going all the way back to All-Star Comics Annual #1)--- next issue, all of that changes. Thanks you, sir! It has been a pleasure to team-up with you on this title, and I am really looking forward to showing the community what we have in store for them in coming months! Obsidian is a perfect case-in-point: he is 100% is own character, unique and underappreciated. We'll see if we can change that. Thank you, sir! You're contribution to this issue was indispensible! How about that cover, folks! And the Atomika pin-up is gorgeous!
