From the moment I saw this cover, I couldn't wait to read this issue! I love those "mysterious" silhouette covers! I just want to re-iterate that this is one of the great un-hyped gems of the DC2, and undoubtedly one of the best titles on our "stands." This author seems to give me instinctively what I want, right down to the Legionesque vocabulary (Nass and grife, indeed!). WARNING! SPOILERS FOLLOW! I love the scene with Brande (Lightning Lad holding out his hand for his benefactor to shake, and instead getting a bear-hug--- and I was just thinking it had been a while since we had last seen Brande!) and Triplicate Girl (nice bit of Legion trivia about her costume that I didn't know). I also loved the flashes of backstory--- hearing of the Legion clashing with the Fatal Five, and the existence of a Legion of Super Villains...! Can't wait to see either of those baddies! And Nemesis Kid ! But is that a new secret identity for him? I thought his name was Hart...? Gim Allon is an instant favorite--- his thoughts on the Legion cruiser are so human and so funny! And at last: Dawnstar! I think I like where you are going with her... ;D Looking forward to the Legion elections (and Cos shoving it down Nemesis Kid's throat). Despite the fact that this was something of a transitional issue, a lot is going on here: the UP is making a move on the LSH, the intrigue with the Dark Circle is heating up, and the Legion itself is really coming together (Despite his antipathy, Brainy feels like part of the team now, especially after the scene with McCauley, and the new members are welcome additions--- well, except for one). Favorite line of this issue: "Brainy just stood there silently fuming in a language he had devised himself. It was based off of a combination of number sequencing and algorithms that only a twelfth-level intellect could decipher. It was a three hour flight to Titan after all; what else was he supposed to do?"How do you resist writing and characterization like that? The revelation about Koko the Argathian Monkey was a stunner! Caught me completely by surprise (Bravo, Scott!), but I think I can guess who Emerald Dragon is (and I can't wait to see him go up against Nemesis Kid). All in all, a rollicking fun read and a terrific issue! This is what the Legion should be like in the DCU, damnit (I dropped the title about six months ago--- one of Waid's few missteps, IMO). And with a cliffhanger like that, can there be any doubt I will be back for next issue? I encourage everyone at the DC2 to read and support this seminal title. If you're not, your missing some fantastic stuff!

From the moment I saw this cover, I couldn't wait to read this issue! I love those "mysterious" silhouette covers! Thanks David! It is a tribute to the late Dave Cockrum, Legion artist extrodinnaire! It took me about 5 minutes to draw and about an hour to get the colors right and doesn't do the man justice! But I'm glad you liked it! The one thing I wanted to make sure I got right was the language. For me it just doesn't feel like an issue of Legion without seeing Garth shout out 'GRIFE!' By far he has the biggest potty mouth of all the Legionnaires! I miss Brande in the DC title... he's one of the characters that hasn't even been mentioned. He hasn't made an appearance here since issue #0 (actually I think I mentioned him in #1, but he didn't say anything)... I felt it was time to show that he's still out there! They have clashed with the Fatal Five, that actually takes place in the year gap between issue #0 & #1... it is the catalyst for Saturn Girls departure from the team. I'll eventually tell that story too, but you'll probably see those villains again before I get around to it. Honestly, as far as Nemesis Kid's secret identity... I couldn't find it! I went through all of my comics, as well as every web site I could think of and couldn't find anything! So this identity is based of a character in Hamlet (with a slight spelling alteration). King Claudius who betrayed and murdered Hamlet's father. Feng is taken from the character that was Claudius's inspiration. Gim is fun to write because he's innocent to the Nth degree... and speaking of Nth... glad you liked Dawny! Just you wait sir! So sure are you...? Who's to say the President won't have his hand in that too? Yeah, this issue is light on the action and heavy on story progression/character development. On the galaxies chess board, you now know who's really in charge of the U.P. and that all of their pawns are now in place. I dropped hints as to the true identity of the Dark Circle's mysterious leader... by next issue youo'll know who he truly is and what he has against the leaders of the U.P. The board will be set and the battles will begin... just who will the Legion side with, if anyone? Brainy's tough but fun to write... how do you write a super-intellect when you are not one? Therein lies the problem... my solution: throw a bunch of long scientific words together and see if it works. Well, I liked the idea of having Koko in the story without it being dumb like in the last LSH. Only Cos, Brainy & Garth know the truth... and, well, now all of you! Yeah, Waid pissed me off when he (supposedly) killed off Mon El last month... that was a final straw for me... But I did enjoy what Cos did to the Dominators! That was just bad ass. I'm happy you enjoyed it and curse you for asking me to start writing it 2 years ago! Hopefully next issue won't be a month late!

Never try and follow David when complimenting a writer/artist, you just can't follow that. First and foremost, DAWNSTAR! Woo Hoo! One of my all time favorites. David is correct, this is a book that DC needs to read to see how it should be done. It's a book that EVERYONE on this site should be reading. And like Scott, don't even get me started with Mon-El. There wasn't a slow moment in this story and so many threads that are hanging out there that it's mesmerizing. I look forward to this every month, and after the events of this entire issue (not just the great cliff hanger) I will be waiting anxiously for the next issue. Great job on both the story and the fantastic cover!

It says "INFILTRATION" in the cover. If someone doesn't know. (I learned Interlac last week!)
I really want to read this, but I have to go now. So I'll post my opinion later.

Right you are Zoom!
I need to learn Interlac... I just have a groovy font that I write the word out and click to change it. I want to know what they were saying in the JLA/JSA crossover!

I loved this. I'm not really that familiar with the Legion (Have no comics from them, except one of the Lightning Saga) but I've always liked the concept of it. And reading this really makes me want to go and buy a lot of them. The characterization was great, the writting fluid, everything was marvelous.
5 stars.

Foolish me, I thought the Dark Circle were also the ones who had taken over the UP. Bad guys all around! Freaky!
I'm pretty sure I know who "Emerald Dragon" is....

Yeah... their pretty much surrounded on all sides!
The questions now are:
Who can they trust? Who is the lesser of two evils?
I'm glad you liked it... you did, right?
Who do you think the Emerald Dragon is? Just guess... don't leave any rationale for the guess though... I want people to keep guessing!

Thank Valor that Zoom's around, because I honestly couldn't translate the cover this time! "Um, that's an 'I', then an 'N'...is that a 'G' or an 'O' over there? I know for sure that's 'L'..." Sometimes it's instant (like 'Lightning Lad' in that JLA stuff) and other times it's like pulling teeth (like today! ). Anyways, pretty good, though I wish the wait wasn't so long. Good surprise with Koko, and my guess for Emerald Dragon is...well, I've got two..no, three...forget it, I ain't telling you frakkers nothin'! ;D

AH-ha! Cool! Tell me what you think about the issue when you have a chance to read it! Well Lantern Lad, i've done as you asked and finally have gotten around to it and i really enjoyed the story. I havent read the other issues (i have read GL Corps on another site and thought it was fantastic!) and i didn't feel lost at all. Reading various fan-fiction on various sites, it's real easy to not keep things accessable to first time readers. I'll try and look over the rest of the series when i get a chance (assuming i don't have to deal with another anti-matter wave at work (aka b-tchy manager)). 4 stars! I tried to write this in interlac but for some reason, these boards do not recognize it as a legit language.
