Lol! Ramon is the Judd Winnick of the DC2? I thought he'd be... Hmm... Chuck Austen.
Joking! Joking!

I just hope I'm not Devin Grayson or Judd Winnick...lol! Great story, dragonbat! As Nightwing is one of my favourite DCU characters, I was a bit nervous about how he'd be portrayed in the DC2. However, I loved the way you handled him and found this more enjoyable to read than all of Grayson's run on the DCU Nightwing series put together. Superb job! Thanks muchly! Most of my spin on NW really comes from reading the works of the fanficcers who preceded me, who in turn got their spin from the Wolfman TT days. He's smart, capable, competent... but he's also in his teens, and in DC2 continuity has never had the opportunity to lead a team before (what with the DC2 TT starting out in university rather than junior high.) Virtually all of his training has come from 2 places: the circus, and Batman. Both are greats sources of inspiration, but they have their drawbacks... as you'll start to see next issue...

The story was everything I expected and more, the more being just why Bruce sent his sidekicks packing. Well done as always, DB. Sorry I don't have anything more constructive to say beyond that. Oh, and yes, you are the Gail Simone of DC2 -- David tried to give me that title but I turned it down, I'm happy being the Michael Fleisher of DC2. ;D

And at least you're not the Devin Grayson of the DC2, eh? That really depends if you're a fan of hers or not, but I'm gonna' assume that in this context... BAAAD thing!

Ummm... kind of awkward here. Not because I've enjoyed her NW run, I haven't. The thing is, in a very real way, I owe her. See, back when her "teardown" started, I was just getting my feet wet in the fanfiction arena. Then NW #89 hit the stands. (The one where Dick's building explodes.) And suddenly, I realized that 1) I knew what I wanted the next scene to be, and 2) I didn't think we were going to get that scene in the next issue.
I guess my dissatisfaction with the direction the series was taking, amplified by the general sentiment on the DCMB, started getting to me, because suddenly it hit me: if DC were to ask me, just out of the blue ask me to write the next scene, how would I do it?
You'll find the answer in the NW section of fanfiction.net if you pull up "After the Fall" by Esther-Channah.
After NW #99 came out, we were still waiting for a resolution to the... ahem... events of NW #93. Same inspiration hit. That was how "The Wind About to Blow" came to pass.
Bottom line, when I read her material something in me gets inspired to "fix" it. And in analysing why I don't like her portrayal of NW, it forces me to concretize why I don't like it, what specifically is wrong with it, and how he SHOULD be written.
So, while I'm not a fan, I have to say that I probably wouldn't have started writing fanfiction were it not for her. That kinda makes her responsible for my getting the NW title here... doesn't it?

*awkward silence* I absolutely understand what you are getting at, Ms. Ellen! You've basically given her the newly coined title: ANTI INSPIRATOR! (that one is mine, people!), someone who is bad to a degree that it gets you off your arse to write. THANK YOU DEVIN FOR DELIVERING THIS TALENT TO US!

Dick Grayson is one of my favorite characters, and I like him solo so much better. I know much has been written about why Batman needs a Robin, but he comes off a lot(atleast to me) as a liability that Bruce wouldn't have. I think when they are written the way they are in this issue that they make more sense as a team. It's more like they are family than just partners even though they are angry. It's that whole growing apart thing that is very realistic. Excellent job

I've already reviewed this issue's writing over at ff.net, but I just thought I better mention here that I really liked the cover design.

Not sure I agree about Bruce having a fiance, but otherwise I really liked this story. Explanation for what happened and good Joker madness. Gotta love it, Batman's rivalry against him will only grow...
