Just wanted to thank Charlene Edwards, Debbie Reed and Kalin Fields for their proofreading. Any errors you saw, they probably caught and I missed the corrections!

Your Nightwing stories = the best Nightwing I've read since Dixon's year one. I can't wait for the next issue just like I can't wait for Nightwing OYL.

Super story! Not only was it another steller look at where Dick is in his life right now, but we also got the pleasure of reading your take on the Titans as well! Great job, as always.

I loved this one! I really felt for the poor guy, it was a great insight into this point of his life. I also liked the parts about the 'little boy who could fly'.

Thanks, Michelle! Started thinking to myself: if, in DC2 continuity, the TT only formed when the former sidekicks were college-age, then it didn't make sense for Dick NOT to be "Mini-Bat" compared to the rest of the team. He wasn't this Bat-like in the DCU, but he had been leading the TT since age 12 or 13 then. That was a stabilizing influence that he had to help him learn NOT to be a loner, and teach him to "work and play well with others." Without that experience, the leadership qualities are there, make no mistake about it... but they're not natural for him. Not yet.

First off I will start by saying that I am always leary of stories that begin with song lyrics! So I started reading with a bit of apprehension...
Ellen, what a story!
Your writing style waxes poetic. It is emotional, and beautifully executed. DC should stand up and take notice that a Nightwing books does not need to shock in order to be good. And Michelle, what a cover! It is equally beautiful and opens a window into Nightwings mind that accompanies the writing perfectly!
And the lyrics fit perfectly, so my apprehension faded quickly.
I did catch one mistake, I think, unless I wasn't reading...
"Where will you go?" asked Rachel
"To tell you the truth, Roy, I don't know," he admitted...
That was it. Otherwise perfect! I only have one other thing to add:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy b-day to DC2's resident Nightwingologist (I have no idea what that mean). All the best!

I liked it, but somehow it didn't 'click' with me. Everything was spot on but for some reason I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would! I'll be sticking with it every month, it's on my 'DC2 pull list', because I love your writing! But I think I want to see some NIGHTWING in the book, and wanted to see less of the Teen Titans, but I know you're setting up for some big stuff, so I can't wait to see!

@lanterlad: Eeep! I meant to type "Rae". In fact I went in and fixed it! Thanks! Oh, and usually DO use song lyrics. Thanks for sticking it out, and glad you enjoyed! Dr Dread: Thanks much! @hom, sorry it didn't click with you. You won't be seeing much of the TT from here on in for awhile. That was the purpose of this issue: set things up so he's away from the team for bit. He'll still be in the TT book, of course. Just assume that the same way Superman can be in space with the JLA in one title while simultaneously enjoying dinner with Ma and Pa Kent and Lois, NW can be with his team and solo depending on the the mag. See you in March!

Excellent issue. I think that most people in Dick's situation are around their friends constantly so it seemed natural for the titans to be around.

First off, Happy Belated Birthday! Tottaly missed it. Second, this was great as always, although I was surprised to see him as Nightwing already -- did he debut the new identiy over in TT? Glad the Titans were there to weigh in before he takes off, and it'll be interesting to see just where you lead him. Kudos to Michelle for a GORGEOUS cover!

Thanks, Susie! You're actually early for the Hebrew date (coincides with March 8th this year).
Yep, in TT #2, IIRC, Dick dons the NW threads. Glad you enjoyed!

Very nice, love the psychology involved with Nightwing. Of course he's gonna have some teamwork problems after what happened! Looking forward to the next Nightwing!

Circle, exactly! This isn't a TT book, it's a solo. But the TT are just as likely if not more likely than the Bat-crew to turn up!

Hope, exactly! And a lot of the reason he was more stable in the DCU TT, IMHO was because their TT formed when the kids were about 13. The way it's set up in the DC2, Dick really only knows how to act "Bat". And he knows that the last time he didn't, he and Babs nearly got killed, and Bruce's fiance died too. He doesn't want to be Batman, but he doesn't know what else works...

I thought the actual writing was great and the characterisation was spot on but I was a bit ambivalent about the story (hard to sympathise with Dick just because he was acting like a bit of a jerk - hopefully he'll sort himself out). Liked the intro with the stuff about the circus. Not sure how saving Batgirl's life last issue cost Dick the woman he loved (boy, Babs is sure hard to please).
On the picky front "How dared he?" while grammatically correct just seemed weird to me not being in the present tense, and I wasn't sure why Breathtaker called Roy "Rock" and, since Starfire's from Tamaran, shouldn't "Tameranian" be spelt "Tamaranian"?

I thought the actual writing was great and the characterisation was spot on Thanks! That's intentional. I love NW, but he's far from perfect. I admit that I'm trying to get away from the way he's been portrayed in recent years (not overly bright. Prone to getting bopped on the head. Wallowing in angst) while avoiding "uber-Wing." Remember, he's only 18 or so and still on the cusp of adulthood as it were. He IS going to mess up, and act like a jerk from time to time, but the times will be fewer and farther between as he figures out his 'place' in the world. Thanks! After she recovered, Babs left Gotham for Las Vegas. Distance relationships tend to hit snags. And as established in TT #0, he and Babs really haven't spoken much since they left the Bat-cave. "Rock" is military slang for an idiot. As in "Dumb as a box of..." I could fudge and say that since the Tamaranian language uses a different alphabet, what we're really reading is a tranliteration and there are varied acceptable spellings, but I think I'll just quietly go back and fix it instead. (Three betas, a Word spellcheck, and 10+ rereads... mumble mumble mumble) Thanks for the FB! ;D

Loving the story so far and can't wait for the next issue. I only have one thing that just didn't sit right with me... it was mentioned earlier in this thread that Dick is wearing the Nightwing outfit and I noticed that he was being called or referred to as the Nightwing persona. This is where my confusion comes in, between issue 1 and 2, when did he take on the Nightwing identity? Roy takes notice of how Dick is becoming like Bruce with the costume colors anology(great may I add, just great) which leads to me to think that the Nightwing identity has not been established yet. Also this trip to "find himself" is... I don't know, leading us to that moment of his difference from his mentor. You know I could just be missing the point that he was fired from Batman and unlike mainstream DC he just started out as Nightwing just to stay in the game, I just would like to know if I missed it and where to find it.... I do still have to read the TT stories, but just to let me know... PLEASE!!!! Again great story and can't wait till the next chapter!!!!

To be honest these are the only DC2 stories Ive read. Are they all this DAMN SWEET! I couldn't beleive the detail you go into of the movement and especially the emotional conections between characters like Bats and DIck. Wow. I love this story keep it coming.

To answer your question, we've got REAL talent on this site--pick a title! I've been following the comics closely since NML and reading loads of truly great fanfiction on other sites. That's helped loads with characterization. As for the movements... I started out writing missing scenes and character vignettes with very little action. Because it's NOT something I feel confident writing, I put in a real effort to make it believable. (And run some of the moves by fellow fanficcers who are true "action-masters".) Glad you're on board for the ride!

Under that advice I've just read Teen Titans (except for Killing Game) and now even the references to the Church of Blood make sense. This place is better than I thought. Look out for my story its in progression.
