I came into this story wanting to love it, The Riddler is a character I really adore, but can't wrap my head around writer-wise (Riddles! I can't come up with riddles!), but I felt that a majority of beats were forced-- I didn't like the "Tom Riddle" naming, and the rationale behind it... I don't know, I found it to be pure corn. The victim that "Tom" saved declaring why he needed saving? Why would someone do that?! I found that to be an incredulous moment indeed, because I couldn't believe anyone would be that stupid to declare they were suddenly very rich (but maybe that was the point?). I did enjoy the closing moments, the build up of tension and sinister discomfort apparent in your writing of "Tom", and the end reveal of the church that saved him was something I didn't see coming-- though as soon as it landed it all made sense.
Thing was... I wanted this to happen, but I didn't see how it could. He got stabbed. Pretty much through the chest, and then he fell into the sea, and I don't see someone so normal coming back from that. But you performed the reveal with some finesse, and that was cool Brian. The flashbacks to Justice League Annual #1 were beautifully woven into the story, I loved those little flashes to the past, so kudos on that too.
All in all, I thought that a weak start dovetailed into a sinisterly delicious ending, and I know I'll look forward to the developments leading into New Outsiders, as whenever you take a Batman villain to Las Vegas, you do beautifully dark things with them, Brian!
Brilliantly understated cover from Ramon, always nice to see his work, and a wonderful tease for what the reader is about to experience, even if they saw it coming.

I liekd this issue. Riddler is a cool villain and it's good to see him come back to the DC2 proper, and set himself up to be the next big bad guy in the Church of Blood.
But I gotta be honest, I saw the ending coming pretty early on. The specific moment was when Sister Lori claims Tom Riddle to be her favorite character in the Harry Potter books. A nun reading Harry Potter? I'll buy that. A nun reading Harry Potter and her favorite character being the main villain? Not so much. A nun reading Harry Potter and her favorite character being the main villain and her referring to him by his previous name? Something's up.
Why do I even remember that? I haven't read any Harry Potter since middle school.
Anyway, fun issue. Cool cover. Looking forward to the next one and to what's going on in NO.

Thanks for taking the time to read it and to respond honestly, Charlie. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it more. The Tom Riddle idea was a bit corney, I'll have to admit. Yet, there was a reason why I went in that direction which UDC points out in his remarks. Very glad you liked the ending, however. Something kind of big is brewing in my little corner of the DC2 world, and if you keep a look out, your going to see hints of it in a few titles around here.

Riddler is definately going to be front and center by the end of this year. LOL! You got me. Good catch too. I didn't try to hard to hide what was going on and figured people might catch on, but hoped that the story was still compelling enough for them to want to finish it. The fact that you were reading them in middle school and the first one came out the same year my oldest son was born is a rather sobering thought for me. Thanks for reading and responding! Also a really HUGE thank you to Ramon for such an awesome cover, and a ver SPECIAL thank you to Jay for letting me hijack an issue for my own nefarious plans. You guys are awesome!

I never got into Harry Potter, so that reference went right over my head. I did think it was a clever way to bring Riddler back. But the whole Blood thing floored me, I was so not expecting them to recruit him!
