I know that Pat struggled with this issue-- s'why I was so concerned about it coming out late-- but I think it worked perfectly for what it was supposed to convey. This was the evolution of, well, not necessarily evil, but of a new threat entirely... for that time. The view into the shark society was wonderful, it's always interesting to see new concepts introduced, and as I'm not that familiar with Aquaman lore as I could be, it was a cool crash course. And seeing young Aquaman was a treat.
There were a few weaknesses in this issue though, but not enough to take away from my enjoyment-- the dialogue was a bit clunky in places, a bit forced, but when one struggles to get something done, you always have that kind of disjointed "too-many-words-for-a-sentence-to-make-sense-at-all-if-you-know-what-i-mean" prose appearing. But like I said, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the issue.
Well done, Pat, it was a pleasure editing you on this. Look forward to King's Reign over in Aquaman, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing some back story to some of the players.

I really like what you did here, Pat. In some ways it's kind of like what I did with Riddler a couple of issue's back. Using this title to let a major player in Aquaman shine, makes perfect sense to me. I hope more people read this and see how much you've invested in the world of DC2 under the sea, because the book rocks! Yeah, I said rocks. Great cover as well! Good job everyone!

Thanks for commenting, Charlie. We got a tiny glimpse of King Shark's tribe back in#17 but I wanted to go even further into the tribe's lifestyle such as how they go out and pretty much take anything they can find to eat both fish and humans. And I have to agree with you about Nanaue not necessarily being evil. Yeah, when King Shark was originally introduced in Crow's arc, the dialogue made it clear that there was a bitter history between Aquaman and Nanaue so I wanted to touch upon that a bit. I have to admit that this issue was a very challenging one to write but I'm glad that it didn't take anything away from the story. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, Charlie!

Using this title to let a major player in Aquaman shine, makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for reading, Brian. Yeah, Jay offered me a spot for an Aquaman villain and originally I had planned for it to be an Ocean Master issue but Aquaman #19 was already kind of an Orm centered story. So I decided it'd be better to have it be a King Shark story. Which also meant I'd be able to include The Shark. Expanding the DC2 Aquaman world has been a real blast and I plan on continuing to do that for a long while. Yay! ;D Yeah, Paul did a great job with this cover. Thanks for leaving some feedback, Brian!
