What a great, fun read. You've really brought back a sense of the tradition Captain Marvel, who is a joy to read. I look forward to the continuing adventures!

Great stuff Aaron! The cover made me laugh out loud there Doc! It definitely added to the classic fun feel that this series has already established by the second issue!
Seeing Billy torn with calling on the power of Shazam and risking revealing his secret to Mary was great! It's a fun and simple plot device that is seldom used this well in the 'modern age'.
Sivana and the Mad Mummy were perfect foes for Capt. to face. Seeing him grow into his new role is a treat.
Can't wait for the conclusion next issue!

Thanks, Doc and John. The idea here is to set a different tone unique to the rest of the DC2 books. If it has a "classic" or "throwback" feel well then I've done my job.
Plus since the protagonists are children the book is written from that point of view so in general you're dealing with "kid problems" that may give it a more light-hearted style.
Again thanks for the kind words, and Doc thanks for the hilarious cover.

This really was my cover of the week. I laughed out loud when I saw it! The issue was great as well. I think I said this with the first issue, but this is pure fun from beginning to end and I'm really hooked. Great job.
One question? Since I'm not familiar with the history of the Marvel family, was Nick and Nora the names of Mary's parents in the DC history, or were they chosen for this book in particular?

It is a good story, and it does feel "classic". But it just didn't grabbed me. Maybe it was that classic style, or maybe it is true that I hate kids. I'll give it a shot until the end of the arc, because I like the Big Red Cheese, and your style.
PS: What is that thing that says "Plotted by..." in the credits?

PS: What is that thing that says "Plotted by..." in the credits? Um, I co-plotted the story with Aaron...? Actually, Aaron took a pretty broad scenario and outline and has turned it into what is turning into one of my favorite arcs on the site! Great second issue, with some really nice character work (especially with Billy and Mary, but with Ibis and Sivana, too). Loved the bit with the Horn of Horror! Very well done, Aaron! Incidentally, the Mad Money is a classic Cap villain, and used perfectly here! That cover made my day, Doc! Quintessential Captain Marvel!

Thank you to everyone who's complimented me on the cover. It's always nice to hear. If you interested in seeing some "behind the scenes" construction of the cover, check my art gallery. Did I comment on how much I love this title?

Who the hell is the Mad Mummy and why is he so mad? Is it really Jimmy Hoffa or what? The intro of Ibis was ok, but lacking.
Taia is a princess of ancient Egypt and she is the wife of Ibis and i guess that is all that she is.
Just lacking a bit of details.

Who the hell is the Mad Mummy and why is he so mad? Is it really Jimmy Hoffa or what? The Mad Mummy is no more or less than what he appears in this issue. No backstory or prior knowledge needed to "get" him. He's a monster! Sorry you think so, Chief! There is quite a bit more to Ibis and Taia, though the middle of this arc hardly seemed the place to explore a tangent...! Maybe you'll like #3 better.

I gotta say, I'm reading this feedback from whichever Dragon is posting, and like... I'm disagreeing. With it all. I think that Shazam! is one of the stronger, though less noticed books on the site. If Dave approves of it, I gotta say, more often than not, it's solid gold. And I guess, I gotta' say, that this is one of those times when it is gold. Though I preferred Black Adam GROWING REALLY BIG later on
