Well this was well worth the wait! Boy do you know how to set up a story. I was totally engrossed from beginning to end... and that ending! You've got me hooked on this story, and I'll be the first one back to read the next installment! Really glad to hear that you've got the next one ready as well. This, plus an outstanding cover make it five stars, my friend! Now get crakin' on the GL!

This is my first issue of this title. So my first thought is; poor guy. Trying to be a "good guy" public defender only to have it blow up in his face.
Second thought; er, these aren't the same Manhunters as from Green Lantern. Or if they are, then DC2 handles them WAY differently than DCU.
Third thought; man inside what? The Squad, or the Manhunters?

Brian- Thanks! This story arc has had an interesting path it traveled to get to this point(check out Mark Shaw's origin in Who's Who #1 to see a little of it). So I am glad you like the way it started out. Next issue gets more interesting as Mark's story is wrapped up and 'you know who's begins' kind of. I agree about the cover! Doc has done a bang up job on this and last issues cover! I can't wait to put my Suicide Squad Annual #1 next to the fine ass cover he did for that as well! The covers are 5 stars all by themselves! GL is coming I guarantee it will be done on time! arcalian- First time huh? Well thanks for giving it a shot! I hope you like what you saw here and checkout the other issues. Each story is a little different in approach and story type but I write the exact seem old way no matter what! Yeah, Mark Shaw's tale is a sad one so far. The poor sucker gets messed with even more in the next issue. This is the most radical DC2 revision of a character that I've done yet. I really thought it was necessary and I hope when it's done he will be a more interesting character for it. As for the 'inside man' that will be explained next issue because the 'who' on the inside is almost bigger then the 'why' they are on the inside. Thanks guys for reading and responding. I appreciate it a lot. Tell all your friends: This is not a story to be missed! Once you give this title a shot you might be surprised that it isn't what you assumed it was. Of course you may still hate it so never mind, please don't check out this book! I am begging you!

Great story, which is quite a feat since Mark Shaw's never interested me in the least in the comics. Also, since I'm not a regular reader, I appreciated the "Previously in Suicide Squad" bit at the start (although all that stuff about Vixen and Bronze Tiger seemed like too much information that wasn't relevant to the actual story).
Also, really liked the cover. When I first saw it I didn't have a clue who the shadowy figure was, and then, when I found out who it was, it seemed obvious in retrospect as I looked at the cover again, which was a cool trick to pull off.

Great issue, John! I really like what you've done with the Cult of the Manhunters (and how you've tied them into the GL mythos)--- and the ending was a great surprise twist. I'm a big fan of the Archie Goodwin contributions to the character--- one of my earliest comics, and a nostalgic favorit; can't wait for next issue!
On a slightly different note, in the DC2 taking the bar exam can be hazardous to the health of your loved ones. Maybe Mark and a certain ex-assistant DA of Clark County should compare notes!

Thank you sir! I too am a huge fan of Archie Goodwin and his unmatched contribution to the character! There are a few more surprises to come concerning the Manhunters cult and more then one surprise is in store for the Manhunters that has already appeared, and maybe a few that haven't appeared yet ;D. I have nothing but the upmost respect for all of the Manhunter characters but I am sure to piss off a few more people when I am done messing with the Manhunter mythos here in the DC2!

but I am sure to piss off a few more people when I am done messing with the Manhunter mythos here in the DC2! I think I might soon be one of them. Wasn't the Suicide Squad book an Action Adventure book? The court room scene was a bit long for my taste, kept hoping for an explosion and a chase. I'm hoping for more action next round, and more Marc Shaw.

Thanks Mark. I realized after the fact that most of the Vixen/Bronze Tiger stuff was more relevant to the next issue then this one. Sorry.
It seems some people got the cover right away and some didn't. I loved what Doc was able to do with in my attempt to one of those cheesy type covers that everyone loved to hate!
Well, my real goal isn't to piss anyone off to be honest. The action will come I promise. I do recall a few moments of action here and there in other issues. Sorry the court stuff wasn't to your liking. I wanted to set-up Mark Shaw's background and show where he's been before we get to where he is going.
More Mark Shaw and more action is in the next two issues of this arc, I promise.
