The RiddlerSecret Identity: Edward Nigma (Illegally changed from Micheal Hughes) Aliases: The Cluemaster, The Count of Conundrum! The Prince of Puzzle First DC2 Appearance: The Batman #3 Status: Villain Base of Operations: Gotham City Occupation: Former owner of ENIGMA TECHNOLOGY HT: 5'10'' WT: 170 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red Powers and Abilities: Extraordinary intelligence and a penchant for riddles and games. History: Michael Hughes was a successful computer software designer, who worked closely with another man, Arthur Brown. These two created a fortune for Minotaur software, and they were given a healthy sum for their part in it, split fifty/fifty because of the nature of their partnership. When Hughes was killed in a car accident, Brown received the full one hundred, and quite a pretty sum it was! But what Brown did not know was that Hughes survived the car accident, and realised that if he returned to his former life, he would be taken out of the picture by his ex-partner, so he did what any man in his position would do… He became a new man. Hughes changed his identity into something more fitting, and developed new software, selling contracts to the military, and when he created a power base to rival Wayne Enterprises or Lexcorp, he staged his master plan. He secretly swindled Arthur Brown out of his fortune, forcing him to accept a special kind of contract from his new company, all this without Brown realising he was being manipulated by the man he thought dead. Brown was hired to attack new members of the Enigma Technology and inject them with a compound that would react with their brain chemistry from a certain trigger, and cause them to become susceptible to hypnotic suggestion, and then Nigma gave Brown the identity of THE RIDDLER for the grand finale. Batman and Harvey Bullock stopped the now insane Brown from murdering the kidnapped employees, and Brown was sent to Arkham Asylum, where he has stayed in a catatonic state. Edward Nigma was a member of a select group of secret men and women with a grand agenda, and he had links to The League of Assassins and Kobra, so how did a man with so much power end up as a costumed criminal in Gotham City? How did he lose his fortune and his company? All will be revealed.

Saturn GirlReal Name: Imra Ardeen First DC2 Appearance: Superboy & the Legion of Super-heroes! SpecialStatus: Hero Group Affiliation: The Legion of Super-Heroes Current Status: Inactive (current whereabouts: UNKNOWN) Base of Operations: Legion Clubhouse; Metropolis, Earth Occupation: Adventurer HT: 5’ 7’’ WT: 130 lbs Eyes: Blonde Hair: Blue Known Relatives: Anthea Ardeen (mother); Unknown father Powers and Abilities: Saturn Girl, like all other natives of the moon Titan, is a telepath. Saturn Girl is a class 5 telepath. History: Imra Ardeen is the daughter of the Titan ambassador to the United Planets. Though she has been brought up to eventually follow in her mothers footsteps, Imra dreams of much more. She longs to join the Science Police as a detective, though her mother attempts to curtail her at every turn. She would constantly sneak tales of the great detectives in history into her house, something that never worked to her advantage with a telepath for a mother. Her mother always found out & always confiscated the material. She was enrolled in the Jr. Congressional League of Saturn at the age of 9, to which she excelled, much to her mothers delight. On her 13th birthday, Imra was ‘granted’ an internship to the Ambassador’s office, which pleased her mother greatly, but served as an annoyance to Imra. Now her mother could have full control over Imra’s day to day life. On a diplomatic trip to the planet Braal with her mother, Imra sensed an overwhelming feeling of malice coming from the Braalian starport. The malignant thoughts boomed loud enough to overcome all others. Using detective skills she read about in old stories, she followed the thoughts to their source, an angry man named Marla Latham. Latham and a group of men were about to attack R.J. Brande, when Imra shouted for them to stop. The men were distracted long enough for two other teenagers (Rokk Krinn of Braal & Garth Ranzz of Winath) to jump into action, disarming & incapacitating the attackers. R.J. was so impressed with the teamwork of the teenagers, he asked them to form a super-powered team known as the Legion of Super-Heroes, a team that could carry on the exploits of the great heroes of 21st century Earth. She immediately accepted without a second thought. She fought with her mother over for days when she found out, and somehow, she won out. Upon the news, R.J. nominated Imra (now Saturn Girl) as the first leader of the Legion to which she served for a year. Addendum: In the year 3007, Saturn Girl resigned both her role as leader of the Legion and her post within the group, her current whereabouts are unknown.

ScalphunterSecret Identity: Brian Savage/Ke-Woh-No-Tay First DC2 Appearance: WEIRD WESTERN QUARTERLY #2 Status: Hero Base of Operations: The American West, late 1800s Occupation: Bounty Hunter Known Relatives: Matthew Savage (father, deceased), Laurie Savage (mother, deceased), Matt “Boss” Savage (brother), Samantha Savage (sister) Height: 6’1” Weight: 190 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Powers and Abilities: Scalphunter is an expert tracker, rider, and frontiersman, and is highly skilled with both traditional Indian weaponry (tomahawks, knives, bow and arrow) and all manner of guns. Unarmed, he excels at hand-to-hand combat and can overpower many opponents with his above-average strength and stamina. In addition to English, he is fluent in various Indian languages spoken by the Kiowa, and knows some Spanish phrases. History: Born on a ranch in rural Missouri, Brian Savage experienced a typical frontier childhood until 1842, when his home was attacked by a Kiowa raiding party. His mother and siblings escaped unharmed, but his father was killed fighting off the attackers, and three-year-old Brian was taken in by the tribe. Now called Ke-Woh-No-Tay (which roughly translates to “He Who Is Less Than Human”), Brian was raised in the Kiowa tradition, but was looked upon as a slave due to his race -- whether because of abuse or from the trauma of seeing his father die, he soon blocked out most memories of his former life, and served his new masters without question. After years of mistreatment, though, he finally rebelled at seventeen after encountering a group of runaway black slaves, who told him of their own struggles to gain their freedom. Proving to the chief that he was an equal to any Kiowa by defeating the tribe’s best warrior, Ke-Woh-No-Tay was released from slavery, though he kept his derogatory name as a reminder of how far he’d come. A few years later, he was captured by Union soldiers after being spotted in the area where some local prospectors had been killed -- Ke-Woh-No-Tay had witnessed the murders, but the soldiers refused to listen to him, seeing only a troublemaking Indian. As they made ready to hang him, one of the men suddenly intervened: Matt Savage, Brian’s older brother, who recognized his long-lost sibling by an unusual birthmark on his neck. Unfortunately, the younger Savage had completely forgotten who he really was, and didn’t believe the white man’s claims. Despite his doubts, he was grateful to Matt for saving his life, and helped the cavalryman track down the real killers. During their time together, some memories of his childhood returned, but to Matt’s disappointment, he refused to turn his back on his life as a Kiowa brave, and made the man promise to not tell their younger sister Samantha that he was alive (their mother had died years earlier). When the Civil War began not long after, the brothers each defended the Union in their own way: Matt rode with the cavalry, and Brian fought in a more mercenary fashion, taking out small bands of Confederate soldiers and helping slaves find their way out of the South. There were times when one brother lent a hand to the other, and on more than one occasion, the younger Savage was assisted -- to use the term loosely -- by a fortune-seeking outlaw/gambler named Bat Lash (see Bat Lash). One Rebel troop who witnessed a solitary attack by the Kiowa warrior, and who lost half their number due to it, dubbed their seemingly-unstoppable adversary “Scalphunter", and the name spread like wildfire through the ranks. When he returned to the West after the War, he continued to operate under the name, knowing that it had gained a reputation all its own. Currently acting as a gun-for-hire, Scalphunter sometimes finds himself working alongside his old partner Bat Lash and, ironically, former Confederate soldier Jonah Hex (see Jonah Hex), whom he'd met many years before the War. Despite continued pressure from his brother Matt, now a Texas cattle-drive trail boss, Brian is still more comfortable in the guise of an Indian than that of a white man, and only a few people know the truth of his heritage. In modern times, one of Scalphunter's descendants, Captain Charles Savage, works as a private airline pilot for Gotham millionaire Bruce Wayne (see Batman).

StarfireSecret Identity: Koriand'r (Tamaranian name), Kory Anders (adopted Earth name) Aliases: none First DC2 Appearance: Teen Titans #0 Status: Hero Base of Operations: formerly Tamaran, New York City Occupation: none HT: 6' 0" WT: 150 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red/Brown Powers and Abilities: Starfire's unique abilities were granted to her by experiments performed by a group of alien scientists called the Psions. These twisted creatures tested how Tamaranians would react to yellow sunlight, and altered Koriand'r's DNA drastically from that of her fellow Tamaranians. Due to this genetic meddling, Starfire has the power of flight, the ability to fire powerful emerald energy from her hands in the form of small spheres. When she uses these ‘starbolts’, her eyes pulse an enchanting green. This effect also seems to be triggered by emotion – when she is calm, her eyes are only a soft jade, but when she is angry, the strange energy flows through them. She also possesses enhanced strength and endurance. Her final, and strangest, ability to of that to absorb another’s language through physical contact. She first demonstrated this when she first arrived on Earth. History: Koriand'r was born on the distant planet of Tamaran, located in the Vega of system. She was daughter of King and Queen Myand’r and Luand’r, and was raised alongside her sister Komand’r. The two did not get along well; vicious arguments between them would often break out, due to Komand’r’s slyness and Koriand’r’s explosive temper. Things did not improve when Koriand’r was chosen as the heir to the Tamaranian Empire over her sibling. Little time could be spent over their rivalry, however, when Tamaran was plunged into a brutal, bloody war with the infamous Citadel. The two princesses were ushered away to Okaara, where they were kept in a safehouse and trained in the arts of combat. As Tamaran struggled against their implacable foes, a Gordanian army tore through Okaara’s defence systems and kidnapped Koriand’r and Komand’r, as well as murdering their bodyguards. Determined to turn the Tamaranian heirs into their own personal killing machines, they began to torture them. Breaking their will was only the first step. Then they began the experiments. During long months of painful procedures, Koriand’r began to develop strange abilities other than that of flight (which was hers by birthright). Before she could learn to use these powers properly, she managed to escape. Her sister, Komand’r was left behind; Koriand’r presumes her dead. She stowed away on a Psion shuttle and defeated its pilots. Desperate to escape, she fled to what she knew as the Sol System and, due to damage sustained during her escape, crashed on Earth. It was here that a new stage of her life would begin…

Steve TrevorName: Colonel Steven Rockwell Trevor Secret Identity:None Aliases:Confidential First DC2 Appearance: Wonder Woman Issue 0 Status:Friend and Ally of Wonder Woman Base of Operations:Washington, D.C. and Paradise Island Occupation: Special Diplomatic Liaison to Themyscira HT:6’3’’ WT:195 lbs Eyes:Blue Hair:Blond Powers and Abilities:None History:A decorated veteran of the First Gulf War, USAF F-18 fighter pilot Colonel Steve Trevor fell out of grace with his superiors after testifying before the US Congress against expanded American military involvement in that volatile region. After that day, he became a high-profile poster child for the Anti-War movement, though continuing to proudly serve his country in uniform. It was this paradox of character, a blooded soldier whose fondest dream was of peace, that brought him to the attention of Ares, the Olympian God of War. In his bid to instigate a total global conflict, Ares appeared to Steve in many guises, attempting to seduce the colonel to the cause of the War God. But Steve proved a man of strict principles and unswerving integrity. In the end, Ares was forced to manipulate Steve by other means. While a dupe of Ares, it was Steve Trevor, flying an experimental stealth fighter, who broke the mystical boundary separating Paradise Island from the rest of the world--- and attempted to bomb Themyscira to kingdom come! He was stopped by Princess Diana, the Amazon’s newly ordained Wonder Woman, and was released from Ares’ control by the Golden Lasso of Hestia. Since that day, Steve has been a devoted ally and friend of Wonder Woman, and was instrumental to her foiling the mad War God’s plans. Shortly after the Ares affair, Steve retired from the Air Force and traveled the world as an agent provocateur for the US government before being appointed by President Lord as the Special Diplomatic Liaison to Themyscira. It has recently come to light, however, that Colonel Trevor is pursuing a mysterious agenda on Paradise Island, and bears secret allegiance to a hitherto unknown organization. How Colonel Trevor will deal with his divided loyalties--- and his unexpressed feelings for a certain Amazon Princess!--- remains to be seen.

UniversoReal Name: Vidar Height: 6’2” Weight: 217 Eyes: (left) blue-green, (right) mechanized red. Hair: None; Black goatee Occupation: Terrorist leader (current); former Green lantern of Sector 2814 Known relatives: Marissa (wife, deceased); Rond (son) First appearance: Tales of the Green lantern Corps: Vidar #1 History: Vidar, son of a Titan priestess & Krellian diplomat, was chosen as Green Lantern of sector 2814 in the year 2974. In 2989, on a mission to Mars colony he met a young woman named Marissa and fell hopelessly in love with her. Though frowned upon (yet not forbidden) by the Guardians, the two were married and soon relocated to Metropolis, Earth, to be closer to her family. In 2990, they welcomed a son, Rond. That same year also saw an increase in piracy to and from the United Planets garnering him quite a reputation. In the year 2992, his reputation caught up to him when his wife was murdered at the hands of a Durlan assassin. Vidar nearly destroyed downtown Metropolis attempting to apprehend the Durlan assassin, inadvertently harming hundreds of civilians. As a result, Earthgov & the United Planets demanded the removal of the Green Lantern Corps from all UP systems, leaving the UP solely under the protection of the Science Police. The Guardians of the Universe expelled Vidar from the Corps, leaving him powerless on Elia. Only his energy depleted ring was found by the Guardian Ganthet. The Guardians of the Universe declared Vidar dead and the case officially closed and the Green Lantern Corps continued to operate in non-UP sectors. The Guardians were wrong. It is unknown how Vidar survived his final battle on Elia; but as Universo, Vidar will stop at nothing to exact vengeance on the Dominion for his hatred of them and of Durlans is absolute. Universo has patiently waited for the opportune moment to strike back, and that moment is now…

Vigilante (I)Secret Identity: Gregory Saunders Status: Hero Base of Operations: New York City Group Affiliation: Law's Legionnaires AKA The Seven Soldiers of Victory Occupation: Singer/Masked Adventurer Known Relatives: Jud Saunders (grandfather, deceased), Nathaniel Saunders (father, deceased), Cyril Saunders (cousin), Sheira Saunders (cousin) Height: 6 ft. Weight: 188 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Powers and Abilities: The Vigilante is an excellent hand-to-hand fighter, and is equally skilled at riding both motorcycles and horses. His weapons of choice are his twin Colt .45 Peacemakers (though he can handle any firearm with ease) and his ever-present lariat, with which he can hogtie any foe in record time. He has a natural talent for singing, and can play just about any song by ear, preferring to do so on acoustic guitar. History: Heroism seemed to run in the Saunders family. Both Greg Saunders's grandfather and father served as sheriff of their small Wyoming town, and his East Coast cousins Sheira (see Hawkgirl) and Cyril (see Speed Saunders) rubbed elbows with "mystery men" of all sorts on a regular basis. Though attracted to the adventure such a life would lead to, and thrilled by the stories of the Old West heroes his father would tell him, Greg had his heart set from a young age on entertaining folks for a living. While his father taught him the ways of the law, he secretly planned on heading off to the big city and becoming a musician, and in 1934 at the age of 18, he did just that, running away to New York with a guitar on his back and five dollars in his pocket. After a few years of playing in gin joints and seedy theaters, Greg landed a record contract and started to ply his trade on the radio. Dubbed "The Prairie Troubadour" by his manager Billy "Pop" Gunn, he began to build a decent career, traveling from one city to the next, performing both in person and on the local radio affiliates. Back in Wyoming, his father continued to serve as sheriff, even though he was getting on in years. Greg kept insisting to the man that he should retire, and even offered to help out financially, but his father wouldn't hear of it. Then in early 1941, the elder Saunders was killed while trying to stop robbers from stealing a gold shipment moving through his town. Feeling that he could have prevented it if he'd stayed in Wyoming to carry on the family tradition, Greg vowed to become the lawman his father wanted him to be. Taking a cue from both the emerging heroes of his time and the Western gunfighters of old, he strapped on his father's guns, hid his face behind a red bandana, and dubbed himself the Vigilante. After tracking down his father's killers, Greg brought his unique style of crimefighting to the Big Apple, and later with him on the road as he continued his public career as a country singer. Just a few months after beginning his new vocation, the Vigilante joined up with six other emerging heroes to take down a secret organization called the Iron Hand. With the shadow of World War II looming over the United States, they later decided they could serve their country best as a team instead of individually, and formally banded together as the Law's Legionnaires (see The Seven Soldiers of Victory), defending their home soil as many of the more powerful heroes went overseas to fight the Axis powers. "Vig" still acted alone on occasion, however, until working on a case in Chinatown in 1943, where he encountered 10-year-old Daniel Leong. His grandfather had been framed by a Japanese agent known as the Head, and the two of them banded together to clear the man's name and bring in the real criminals. Afterward, Daniel tagged along with Greg in both his singing and crimefighting careers, adopting the name "Stuff, the Chinatown Kid". Sadly, their adventures came to an abrupt end in 1948, when the Vigilante disappeared while on a mission with the Law's Legionnaires. The circumstances of his disappearance, as well as the fates of the rest of the Soldiers, remains a mystery to this day. In modern times, a new Vigilante, Adrian Chase, has emerged to fight crime in Las Vegas as a member of the New Outsiders (see New Outsiders). There is no known connection between the two heroes beyond the name.

VixenSecret Identity: Mari Jiwe McCabe Aliases: None First DC2 Appearance: Suicide Squad issue #1 Status: Hero Base of Operations: Mobile Occupation: Model, Business executive, Adventurer HT: 5’ 7” WT: 140 Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Powers and Abilities: A supernatural talisman called the Tatu Totem grants her the ability to mimic the powers of any animal. But she can only tap into one power at a time. History: Mari Jiwe Macabe had always been perceived as a woman who knew what she wanted and went after it. As a young woman in college, a local San Francisco photographer noticed her. He'd told her that she should drop out of college and concentrate on modeling full time. She didn't take his advice. Mari finished college and earned degrees in both business management and fashion design. She was well on her way to a successful career when she moved to New York and began to model full time. Financing her new business ambitions became easy with all of the modeling money that came in and she was quickly becoming everything she inspired to as a child. Mari hated stereotypes and never wanted to fall victim to what others thought she should be. Because her father traveled on business a lot, she was mostly raised by her mother. They weren't rich by any means, but they weren't poor either. By most standards, her family was what you'd call middle class. She became aware of her family heritage at an early age. It was something she was proud of but never fully embraced. That was until she heard that her father had died under mysterious circumstances while away on business. She dropped everything and went home to be with her mother. It was shortly after the funeral that Mari was told about her family's true legacy. She was next in line to receive the Tatu Totem, last worn by her father. What she quickly discovered was that it granted her the ability to mimic the "powers" of animals. Soon after, she also discovered her father used these powers to fight against what he perceived to be evil forces throughout the world. Everything she thought she knew about her father, her family, and herself was put into question. She began a journey to her ancestor's birthplace in Africa. When she emerged, she had a new purpose in life and that was to follow in her fathers' footsteps. Still early in her 'crime fighting' career, she was approached by Sarge Steel. He was the one who convinced her to join a larger, more powerful group who all fought for the same cause. Soon after Mari Macabe began leading a double life. She continued to model, but when she was needed, Steel would call upon her to work with him. It was Steel who first called her Vixen. Well, he'd actually called her a vixen, which literally translated means a woman regarded as quarrelsome, shrewish, or malicious. Mari liked it because it fit her perfectly. She has spent several months with the Suicide Squad and begun to develop feelings for one of her teammates. Mari has been getting more confident with her ability’s but she will soon encounter someone with similar powers that may change her life forever or end it entirely.

Wonder Woman (I)Secret Identity:Queen Hippolyta Aliases:Corporal Polly Prince. US Army Intelligence First DC2 Appearance:Wonder Woman Issue 0 Status:Deceased hero Base of Operations:Themyscira, Paradise Island (As Queen of the Amazons), Washington, D.C. (as Wonder Woman) Occupation:Queen of the Amazons (as Hippolyta), founding member of the JSA (as Wonder Woman), secretary to General Joseph “Glory” Jones (as Polly Prince) HT:5’11’’ WT:145 lbs Eyes:Brown Hair:Brown Powers and Abilities: Unlike her daughter Diana, Hippolyta was not born with the special blessings of the Olympian gods and goddesses, yet she paved the way for her as the first Wonder Woman, chosen to help save mankind from itself during the dark days of WWII. Like all Amazons, Hippolyta wore the silver bracelets of their former bondage, but she also wore the silver Girdle of Gaea, which bestowed upon her great strength and invulnerability, and upon her breast she wore the eagle aegis of Hermes, which granted her the power of flight. History: In the Pre-Homeric Age, Hippolyta, along with her twin sister Antiope, ruled over the ancient tribe of Amazons, a race of women devoted to the worship of the goddesses of Olympus and granted immortality by them. They were to be set apart as paragons of the world, models of virtue and examples of the promise of mankind. But mankind had a long way to go. The Amazons were beset by the greed and weaknesses of man, and often caught in the machinations of the Olympian gods. In addition to the arts of healing and science and craft, the Amazons were forced to learn the ways of war to survive, and soon could claim the reputation of the finest and fiercest warriors of the ancient world. The pride of the demigod Heracles and his companion Theseus caused them to seek out the Amazons, and to measure themselves against their queens. By cunning, the Amazons were conquered and made slaves for a time, and ever after wore the shackles of their slavery so that they would never forget the perfidy of man, and always remember the sacred necessity of their mission. But not all Amazons felt the same about their mission. Hippolyta and her followers felt that man was not ready to embrace the Amazon message of Peace and Truth and Love, and chose to withdraw from the world until such time as man needed them again, while Antiope and her followers chose to dwell among man and revenge the wrongs done upon them. It was a bitter parting for the sisters, as they had a great love between them, more poignant for the fact that Antiope would soon be slain by the Amazon’s great enemy, the Minotaur. Hippolyta led her sisters to the island paradise set aside for them by the goddesses of Olympus, but their new home was not a gift--- the Amazons were charged with guarding Doom’s Doorway, the passage to Tartarus, that kept the ills of Pandora’s Box from spilling over into the world. On the island, the Amazons founded the city of Themyscira, and at Doom’s Doorway built the Bronze Gates to guard against the ever-present threat. Foe millennia, Hippolyta ruled over a society devoted to the perfection of the human condition, science and the arts flourishing in Themyscira as they had nowhere else on earth. Truly, the Amazons exemplified the best in humanity. There came a time when the gods decreed that the strength and leadership of the Amazons were again needed in a Man’s World on the brink of global war. Hippolyta took upon herself this colossal task, granted the Girdle of Gaea and the Eagle Aegis of Hermes, and presented herself in Man’s World as Wonder Woman! There, she assumed the persona of Corporal Polly Prince, an MIA army nurse, and became the personal secretary of Army General Joseph Jones (WWI costumed hero “General Glory”), and as Wonder Woman helped to turn the tides of darkness during the Second World War. She became a founding member of the Justice Society of America, battling such foes as the Ultra Humanite, Per Degaton and Baron Blitzkrieg, keeping the world safe for Democracy, and spreading the Amazon message of Peace, Truth and Love. But again, mankind was not ready for the Amazon ideals. When the JSA disbanded in 1951, Hippolyta regretfully returned to Paradise Island, but nurtured within her the hope that one day man would be ready to realize their potential. That fervent hope grew within her, and the goddesses of Olympus answered Hippolyta’s unexpressed prayer by quickening her womb with a child that bore their blessings. So it was that Hippolyta gave birth to the first child born on Paradise Island, a daughter she named Diana. And never had a child a more devoted and pleased mother, for Hippolyta knew that her daughter was indeed the hope of the world that she had nurtured in her breast after her return from war. But she was first a mother. And when the gods had decreed that a new Wonder Woman was to be chosen in a tournament, she could not bear to send her precious child into the world she had fought so hard to save, and yet had rejected her. But Diana could not escape her destiny, and took up her mantle as the one true Wonder Woman, much to the fear and pride of her mother. It was under the auspices of Diana that Man’s World was first exposed to Paradise Island, and Hippolyta beseeched the goddesses to let fall the mystic veil that separated Paradise Island from the mortal realm. Eventually, she even allowed emissaries of Man’s World to step foot upon Paradise Island. Though immortal, Hippolyta was not impervious to harm. When at last Doom’s Doorway opened and the Bronze Gate’s fell, the Minotaur, eternal enemy of the Amazons and slayer of Hippolyta’s own sister Antiope, led the Spawn of Uranus against the Amazons in a war of extinction that he pursued to the very walls of Themyscira itself. It was on a tall hill outside the city that the Amazon Queen fell to the blade of her oldest foe, joining her beloved sister at last in the Elysian Fields. She was avenged by her daughter, Princess Diana, and her body reclaimed and given the proper funerary rites. And while it is Diana’s destiny to be the one, true Wonder Woman, she only carries on the legacy first realized by the courage and strength of her mother Hippolyta.

“So,” Green Arrow mumbled, his mouth filled with cornmeal muffin, “any news on who’s filling in for Stewart while he’s away?”
Their resident Green Lantern had been called away to Sigma Chi II, to assist with some extremely delicate negotiations. Some years earlier, John Stewart had brokered a cease-fire between three warring factions. Now, poised on the brink of true peace, all parties insisted that Stewart—and only Stewart—negotiate a fair and equitable treaty. Each faction had its own grievances and sticking points, so while all supported an end to their decades-long war, the peace process promised to be a long and drawn-out affair. With no idea how long Earth would be short one of its Green Lanterns, the guardians had enjoined Stewart to select a substitute.
Superman helped himself to a bagel and lox from the buffet table. “His name is Boo. That’s all John’s message said.”
“Boo!” The Flash exclaimed. “Whoa! I’ve heard of that guy. They say he can take out the Fearsome Five without working up a sweat!”
Plastic Man morphed into a bullhorn. “I heard he’s got more girls throwing themselves at him than Booster Gold!”
“I hear he’s really a giant chicken.” Batman delivered the statement without inflection, as casually as though he’d been discussing the weather.
Plastic Man jumped. He hadn’t even heard the Bat come into the dining hall. The other JLA-ers froze in shock.
“A chicken,” Aquaman said slowly, disbelief rampant on his face. “Oa sends us the best of all possible substitutes and you’re referring to him as… a chicken.”
Batman set his jaw stubbornly. “I’ve examined the evidence. There’s no other conclusion possible.”
“Sure,” Green Arrow sneered. “You’re just jealous the Guardians didn’t pick you to wear the ring.”
“You’re projecting, Queen,” Batman said, refusing to rise to the bait. “Facts are facts.”
“Gentlemen.” Wonder Woman strode forward, Martian Manhunter close behind. “Our newest member is teleporting up. Shall we go to greet him?”

‘Sleek’ might have been the best way to describe the new arrival.
A shiny helmet adorned his head. Beneath it, gleamed light-brown tresses, so smooth that they appeared to lie flush against his skin. Dark glasses perched on his beak of a nose. The GL uniform, although formfitting, seemed to adhere to a form more rotund than the typical JLA member. The sleeves tapered at the wrists and flowed outwards over wing-like gloves.
“I told you,” Batman whispered sotto voce, “that’s a giant chicken.”
Plastic Man made a show of circling slowly around the masked vigilante, studying his head from various angles. “Little light in the belfry, Paul Revere?” He asked. “That’s Boo! He’s the bravest! He’s the coolest!”
“He’s a chicken!”
The newest member of the JLA glanced at the two men curiously.
“Hey, Boo!” Plas beckoned. “Bats here thinks you’re a giant chicken!”
The rest of the League erupted into laughter.
“Impossible!” Wonder Woman gasped. “Boo, how could anybody believe such a travesty?”
Boo bobbed his head. “B’cawwwse,” he started to say.
At that precise moment, a klaxon sounded. Martian Manhunter dashed over to a computer monitor. “Our perimeter has been breached!” He exclaimed. “Amazos are attacking!”
Superman snapped to attention. “Everyone to battle positions!” The Man of Steel ordered.
In the instant before the League rushed to comply, Boo leaned forward, gesturing towards Batman’s utility belt. “BUCKaw!” He pointed.
Beneath his cowl the Batman’s eyes widened. “How did you—never mind!” He snapped as he unbuckled a pouch on his belt. “It might work, Boo,” he agreed, “but it’s risky. You’d have to draw them in to you… and make sure you’re far enough from the Watchtower that they don’t rupture the environmental shielding, but close enough that you’ll be able to get—“
A feather-light hand covered Batman’s lip as the new Lantern nodded serenely. “Ba-uck,” he finished, holding out another hand. Batman reached into the pouch and handed over a small, esoteric device. Boo pocketed it and waddled toward the teleporter.

“Can we get a good view?” Flash asked as he sped into the observation lounge.
“Good enough,” Ollie confirmed. “What was that thing you gave him, Batman?”
The team watched as Green Lantern held the device before him in both hands; its spherical top aimed toward the five Amazos ranged in a semicircle about him.
“Something Stewart and I were collaborating on. It causes vibrations, which disturb the molecular bonds between metallic compounds, causing them to disintegrate. Obviously, though, it can’t be used from within the Watchtower.”
Plastic Man glanced around him at the metal walls and shuddered theatrically. “Yeah, obviously. You sure those… vibrations won’t hit us?”
Batman looked out the window at the five Amazos, now so much scrap metal. A brief, uncharacteristic smile of satisfaction flickered on his face. “Positive.” The smile vanished abruptly as the Dark Knight’s jaw dropped.
“How,” he began. Then he gasped. “The Lantern suit. There must be metal in the weave! Get him inside. Now!”
The Martian Manhunter hastened to comply.

The League dashed into the transporter room. Had they managed to pull Lantern Boo to safety before his suit dissolved to leave the newest Lantern victim to the rigors of space? No. But at least they had him.
A collective sigh of relief was heard. Lantern Boo was clearly still moving. But as he sat up, every Leaguer save one was heard to gasp.
The metal helmet had vanished, revealing a coxcomb beneath. His mirrored sunglasses in their wire frames were gone, leaving wide, black, iris-less eyes, blinking nervously in the fluorescent lighting of the transporter room. The sleek brown tresses were now, quite obviously, feathers. The suit had fallen away to reveal more feathers, brown from the neck up, white from the neck down. He had a tail, too.
“L-Lantern Boo?” Whispered Plastic Man.
“I did tell you that he was a chicken,” Batman stated condescendingly.
“Buckaw?” Something hit the ground with a hard clink and rolled toward them. Batman picked up the Green Lantern ring and secured it within his utility belt.
“He IS a chicken!” Flash snapped. “Sheesh! Hawkman wasn’t available?”
“Get him out of here!” Green Arrow snarled. “Get him…”

An airlock door opened. A terrified chicken, wings akimbo went hurtling Earthwards with a loud “BUCK-CAW!!!”. A large pink foot perhaps four meters in diameter remained visible to satellite cameras for a split second longer before Plasticman retracted it and the airlock door sealed itself shut.
