We're back after a long hiatus, and ready to make this the greatest year yet for Justice Society of America on the DC2! We hope you read this issue and let us know what you think right here in this thread!

Great storyline great in how you touched base with all the characters but did you mean to have it say epilogue at the top with prologue lower down the post? sorry if you did I was just wondering but brilliant characterizations.

Thanks for reading, Laura! And yes, the juxtapositioning of the Epi- and Prologues was intentional, but I'm glad you asked. While writing it, I viewed this as a connective issue between the first big chunk of stories (issues 1-12, including Annual #1, Special #1 and JSA: Classified #1 & 2) and the next big chunk of stories (#14 onward). The first scene looked back on those issues, while the last propels us forward into the future of the title. Glad you liked the characterization. I appreciate the feedback! (And I haven't forgotten about our secret project--- something winging your way soon, I promise )

Oh hey, it's back. Right on.
Great issue, way to bridge into the next arc and touch on all the major characters. I'm looking forward to the story; JSA vs. neo-Nazis makes a whole lotta sense and promises some really interesting action and character moments.
I'm hoping to see more of the younger guard in future issues, but really, all the characters are fun to read and well done, so it's all good. Looking forward to what comes next, and glad to have the old folks back.

Oh hey, it's back. Right on. Yep! Thanks for hanging in with me, Scott! And--- good news!--- the next issue is 99% written (literally! I need to add, like, three or four paragraphs!) and already has a cover, too (another awesome Jamie Rimmer masterpiece)! The JSA began their career fighting against the menace of the Nazis... will they end it doing the same? Like Wildcat, I, too, feel a little like this is a full circle type story. Whatever else happens, I can guarantee you, this will be the biggest threat the DC2 JSA will has ever faced. When the Fuhrer of the Fourth Reich stands revealed, you'll see why! Thank you, sir! I have some interesting plans for each and every one on my (increasingly larger) roster. As for what comes next, I can only point you to the final words of Harry Harrigan, in this very issue--- a story years in the planning (as Don may attest, as it caused him to cleverly adjust his own brilliant Seven Soldiers of Victory title). Thanks for the feedback, sir! See you next month!

So I finally managed to sit down and read this in one go-and I have to say I'm ready for next isse.now. Please?!
I may be a little biased with working on the book and all,but this to me is everything the JSA could and should be.ive been desperately saddenned lately by the lack of jsa stories from the regular DCU ...at the same time looking hopefully forwards to the new earth 2 book(overly optimistically perhaps after seeing the revealed cover, but well,as of this issue I am totally over it.
I want more and I want it now-I cannot wait for the next issue-it promises to be a great ride and I definitely look forward to what you have coming for us- an yes there are BIG things coming up, hopefully my scribbles do justice to a book that you were born to write Mr Charlton!
Back to the grindstone!!

So I finally managed to sit down and read this in one go-and I have to say I'm ready for next isse.now. Please?! Ha! Thanks, Jamie! I was just as curious myself: as soon as I finished this issue, I jumped right into writing the next one to find out what happened. And let me just say, it's ugly. This is the JSA's "9/11" moment (no crass sentiment implied, especially for those who lived through that awful time). Your interest and partnership on this title with me is a significant motivating force. I can honestly say, you certainly make it more fun to work on! But, yeah, I'm disappointed by the lack of Golden Age love in the DCU at the moment, too, and Earth-2 has me worried: IMHO Robinson hasn't written anything worth paying for in a long time! Even George Perez, who's doing covers for Worlds' Finest, sounds like he's distancing himself from this project . Huge things coming! So excited about the stories that are coming--- stuff that Jamie and I have been plotting for years. Be fun to finally get them out If the grindstone is where you go to produce masterpieces like the cover to #13, then by all means, back to it man! That piece is amazing! I mean, look at the detail on Hawkman--- if you have a magnifying glass. It is an honor and a pleasure to work on this title with you, sir! Thanks for the feedback!

Great to have you back, and the political intrigue is exciting!!
Any reason we can't rate the issue?

Thanks, Jay! It feels good to be resume writing on my favorite book! (Though, strictly speaking, I suppose, my official return to the JSA was the story in the Christmas special, which I regard as a critical chapter in the team's history. Again, thanks. This sort of thing isn't necessarily my forte, but it's fun to write and seems to be developing naturally. Turns out the DCU is geographically rich with made-up European nations I can do awful things to . You sure can! From now on, I think I just prefer for folks to do that (or not, as the case may be) in the letter columns, to encourage interaction. Just a personal preference, of course!

I'm a big fan of character driven stories and this just highlighted that love for me.
Ted Grant, bad ass Wildcat that he is, mourning the loss of a friend with Wes, the laughter he exhibits at the thought of Hooty doing what he did... wonderful. A great little moment in a really tight issue.
Interesting to be in the calm before the storm and I thoroughly enjoyed Alan's pensive, brooding moment. Can't wait to see him unleash all that against the Black Dragon Society. But after that final moment... maybe I won't get my chance!
Jim Corrigan's quest for the Nelsons is a plot point I'm interested to see resolved, and I loved the "I've been dead longer than you"-off he had with Nabu. I always found Nabu to be an interesting character in the Robinson/Goyer/Johns JSA series, so I wonder how my expectations will synch up with what you're doing here, my friend. I doubt I'll be disappointed!
All in all this was a great setup for whatever's coming next. You've got a massive cast you've got to keep tabs of so I don't envy you, but you always keep the plates spinning so ultimate kudos to you, Dave.
I apologise for taking so long to read this issue but good times, my friend. Keep up the good work!

I'm a big fan of character driven stories and this just highlighted that love for me. Thanks, Charlie. I'm just the opposite, preferring to let plot drive the story--- but every once in a while, I'm compelled to do one of these, usually as set-up, but it also serves as a great way to reacquaint the reader (and myself!) with what's going on in a title that has had a less than consistent posting schedule. Actually, that bit was slated for the (fallen-off-the-radar) 2012 DC2 Sampler. But when I discovered the Epilogue-to-Interlude-to-Prologue structure of the issue, the scene re-purposed itself nicely. (FWIW, I do have something I can still contribute to the Sampler if-and-when.) That final moment is indeed a game-changer for Alan Scott, in a lot of ways. It's a game-changer for the whole team, actually (the ones that survive, that is ). Ramifications from that final moment--- as they say--- will reverberate. Me too! It's been dangling since Day One! But I think the pay-off I have in mind is pretty cool. I hope. I view Nabu as sort of a dick . Not good or evil, per se, but a user of power for the sake of "his team" (which is not always "Good", necessarily). I have a long-term (though hitherto low-key) vested interest in the struggle between Chaos and Order in the DC2niverse ( you should remember why, actually), and I see Doctor Fate (and through him, Nabu) as a key player in that struggle. Thanks, Charlie! It's not easy keeping tabs on my cast, but I have an affinity (and more importantly, a story) for all of them, so it's my pleasure to do it, so I hope that comes across. I do, sometimes, bemoan that there are simply not enough hours in the day to do spotlight issues on each and every one of them. No apology necessary, my friend, you've had an eventful month (for those who might not have heard, Charlie wrote a novel in the same span of time that I wrote this issue ). Just glad you read it and let me know you liked it! See you in a few weeks for #14!

Great Issue Dave. Wraps things up very nicely and sets up what looks to be an exciting adventure. Great moments here with Wes/Ted, Jay/Robotman and our mischievous Young All-Stars.
I'm really looking forward to this new enemy. I've never heard of them I did a wikipedia search for the Black Dragon Society and they didn't have much, so this territory of the JSA's history is fresh to me. I don't remember any stories about the JSA fighting in the Pacific in World War 2 (I think Ordway wrote/drew a story where some members were transported back in time to to Japan, before the Hiroshima Bomb hit in the latest volume of the series), so to see that they have an enemy from there is something I look forward to reading about. It's probably my favorite thing about the JSA, is their history is sort of intertwined with our real world history.
And are ninjas in this title's future? It figures that I'm no longer artist on the title and my favorite cannon fodder could possibly be introduced.
I'm glad we have the next issue coming soon. Reading about DC's plans for the JSA and Earth 2 doesn't make me hopeful for those series, so I'm glad we have DC2 to keep the true spirit of the characters alive.

Thanks, Alex! This was definitely a peek into "a day in the life" type of issue. This people keep doing interesting things while I'm not looking--- especially the Young All-Stars (for instance, I had no idea about Ray and Dolly Dickles--- how scandalous )! Honestly, I don't think the Dragon King originated in the real-world Golden Age; I believe he was created by Roy Thomas for All-Star Squadron (which is good enough for me ). I'm going to be taking some liberties with him, but weaving him into the mythology of the JSA seems natural. I couldn't agree more, my friend! How badass is it that they fought in WW2!? Just for you--- ninjas next issue. Very glad you feel that way, sir! I hope to continue to do you (and all my other readers) proud! Thanks for reading and for the feedback!
