And while we're here, anyone interested in doing some pin-ups for the Soldiers' secret files, La Garra and Bradamante are up and I'm hoping to get Gimmick posted soon, so let me know and I'll get you the descriptions.
Take care Don

Pin ups, huh? Sounds fun Great work as always. To get the big guns out first, I loved the whole resolution of Green Arrow and Count Vertigo, a way to find a real hero's victory in every sense. And Gimmick getting through to Witchhazel was fantastic - there's nothing I quite like as much as superheroes saving the world with words. All the little touches are here too - Danette's teasing Micky at the end made me laugh. And Pat's freaking out over Greg losing the kids. All those little things that make the characters just feel real every time.

Now that was a ride. Great seeing the majority of the Soldiers in one place fighting Vaux, and I loved Gimmick's talk-down of Witchazel from her evil, even if it is a temporary thing. The dialogue was so crisp, and I know I sometimes pick on you for your dialectical stuff when we're chatting on Facebook, the language your teen characters use, but there were no moments I was like C'mon Donnnnn, which is high praise indeed. The whole return of Nebula Man was very foreboding, legitimately scary, and it was good seeing the good guys beat the crap of Vaux and Witchazel scarper when she did. Great cap to that thread!
Then we have the return of the one, true Green Arrow. What can I say? The moment of his 'return' with his costume, the decisions he made and the person he became at that point, it was brilliant. Green Arrow stands for something. The mask means something. And Vigilante being the voice of reason and talking him down from a bad decision was so well done and so apt. Oliver Queen could have killed Vertigo, I think. Oliver Queen, as he was after his breakdown, could have done that bad thing. Green Arrow couldn't. Green Arrow, and the experiences that got him back to the quiver and costume, the Soldiers and Vigilante and the family that he found building around him, Green Arrow couldn't be that killer.
Well done, Don. A perfect issue. And a fantastic cover, too! What a brilliant package!

As I've been making my way through the site's back issues I've decided to leave a comment whenever I finish a series. So first up is Seven Soldiers. I initially read this series because the character database said it featured the character White Dragon, whom I'm planning to use in New Titans. Turns out it isn't the same White Dragon, but I had liked what I read and decided to give the whole series a go. And I'm glad I did. Besides Green Arrow I knew nothing about this team. Susan and Don both weaved a tale that showed such a love for the DC Universe. The varied plots and character arcs carved out their own niche on the site, kind of a mix of a high fantasy and a western. It's a shame that it seems the story will never be finished, but what we got was great.
