So...this is the way the world ends.
There is so much going on here, so many battlegrounds spread across all of reality. Each scene could be a standalone story, but to know that this chaos is all caused by the exact same event takes this to an unheard-of level of scariness.
I didn't read Crisis on Infinite Earths until nearly a decade after the fact. Even knowing what would spring from it, reading that maxiseries and seeing all the destruction and the deaths of major characters filled me with dread. I get that same feeling when I read Omega Crisis...and I've actually had a hand in putting this together!
On a more personal note, the idea of Bruce Wayne having Parkinson's struck a nerve. My Mom was diagnosed over 12 years ago, so I've seen her go through the same sort of struggles Bruce is going through. She never put on a Bat-suit, mind you, but something as simple as putting on a pair of shoes can occasionally be an uphill battle. Going by how my Mom feels after having a very active day, Bruce is gonna feel like hammered shit tomorrow!

So...this is the way the world ends. There is so much going on here, so many battlegrounds spread across all of reality. Each scene could be a standalone story, but to know that this chaos is all caused by the exact same event takes this to an unheard-of level of scariness. When the event was originally planned, there were loads of tie-ins planned that would allow me-- us!-- to expand on what makes this story so special. All-Star Academy, Green Lantern Corps, LEGION, Young Justice and more, everyone would have a worthy story... hell, there was one story... a miniseries I might still approach one day... called KILL GOD that would have featured the New Outsiders and New Gods teaming up to deal with an event from IXE: The Apokolips Imperative that would have reared it's head once again at the end of reality. The scope of the attack will continue to grow next issue, and then I'm thinking of pausing on the release schedule so I can get us going monthly. As you well know, there are so many threads that will continue to grow, continue spread, and I think I need to give myself some breathing room to finish it in an appropriate-- and worthy-- manner! I was the exact same! Crisis on Infinite Earths came into my life when I was around ten, and it's just... seminal. I think it shaped a lot of my work when I was doodling my own comics and writing my own little stories, before the DC2 or any of that. Being introduced to comics via such a groundbreaking event is probably damaging for your psyche, but I made it work (I hope)! With Omega Crisis, I don't want deaths to be meaningless. I want there to be meaning, I want there to be emotion, and I want to make sure this swan song resounds properly with the readership. There are dark times ahead, but with the Green Lantern Corps about to come into the fray... will they shed an emerald light on the proceedings? On a more personal note, the idea of Bruce Wayne having Parkinson's struck a nerve. My Mom was diagnosed over 12 years ago, so I've seen her go through the same sort of struggles Bruce is going through. She never put on a Bat-suit, mind you, but something as simple as putting on a pair of shoes can occasionally be an uphill battle. Going by how my Mom feels after having a very active day, Bruce is gonna feel like hammered shit tomorrow! Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Coming into this event, and trying to figure out why Bruce wouldn't be Batman anymore was a vitally important story point, and we've seen the reasons across numerous stories over the years... Batman Beyond because he had to resort to the ways of the enemy when his body wasn't enough, the death of Robin and his body failing him in The Dark Knight Returns... sure, it could have been "for giving it his all" like in The Dark Knight Rises, but that's not my Bruce Wayne. No, he'd have to be unable to go on anymore, his body wouldn't be the finely honed weapon he'd constructed it to be. Parkinson's made perfect sense, especially considering the ordeals Bruce put himself through. More on his travails as the story continues... Thanks for reading, Susan! Some very interesting discussions to be had between The Questions and the Wayne family next issue...
