I didn't have any luck with it either. Since we've modified the site it doesn't work? Or has to be designed with the mobile compatibility in mind?

To be true to the tradition of the site I will go ahead make a few story comments.
I loved seeing Krell go all Ahab and ride his obsession down into a watery grave. It was the most deserving fate of my attempt at giving Arthur an archetypal mad sea captain nemesis. I loved seeing Thomas emerge as a young hero and extending a hand to his father to avert a darker destiny. Now I'm wondering what costumed identity he will adopt as a potential All Star! All the threads tied together neatly and even into surprising new connections with the war of Chaos and Order. Very cool piece of footwork.
Aquaman faced the ultimate test after already feeling the curse had led him to the final downfall of his people, and emerged victorious on the other side of destiny into a new chapter in the chronicles of Atlantis! A wonderful ending to the saga.
And finally, I would love to see you cut loose on a story directly driven by Lovecraftian lore, Dave! I'm pretty sure it would be awesome.

What can I say to do this justice?
It's a fantastically fun and cool read, and a perfect ending to the stories started so many short years ago. I am honored and thrilled that you picked up the reins on this to steer the tale home, Dave. Your Hawkman stories were precisely what brought me to the DC2 to begin with. I'd never really delved into fan fiction much before that, but I knew instantly that the stories you were presenting were of a different caliber. These weren't simply musings of an enthusiastic fan, but rather genuinely wonderful tales that were intelligently crafted and full of passion in most every detail. You have always been the utmost pro in the years that followed. Always a joy to collaborate with, and willing to take the time to give feedback on even the craziest half-baked ideas. You are a class act and have been a stalwart creative companion beyond what began here on this site. I can't thank you enough for being brave and bold enough to get this site going to begin with. I know it took a lot of your free time, but so many have benefited from your initial and continuing efforts. Careers have been launched, friendships have been made, and some damn fine stories and art have been created.
Oh yeah. The story at hand! Again, what can I say? I think it was perfect, and I've enjoyed very few readings as much as this one. Thank you, my friend.

Now I'm going to have to watch Adventures in Time and Space. I'd watched the 50th anniversary shows - even the Five(ish) Doctors - but never managed to watch Adventures. I guess I've been mulling about and catching up on other shows when I still have some Who to watch. Not to mentioned I never finished watching Torchwood either!
The seasons seem to work differently on British television. I know in the older shows they would stretch a story out over several episodes, and the seasons followed the necessities of the story more than being locked into a set number of episodes in US television while shying away from seasonal arcs until shows like Buffy showed the strength in doing so.
I think it's great that Doctor Who has been able to straddle the line between the adult and youth entertainment. It's funny because it totally is 'hide behind the sofa' still for younger viewers. I know that Matt Smith really managed to catch on with a younger audience (the merchandise has been everywhere), so again I'm interested if they can maintain that with an older Capaldi. I do think you are correct though. They very much seemed to skew older again it seems with this next cycle of regenerations. Will they go younger again as they progress?

It's always fun to get into any fictional universe with a deep history. I'm glad Doctor Who has managed to go so long and still maintain one continuity more or less. Other long standees like Star Trek have already gone into reboot. But part of what is great about Who is the regeneration process to keep it fresh. Brilliant.
And to be honest, I think the show was hindered for a long time by a small budget. The stories can finally take on a larger scope.

It's a complicated bit of retconning they did for Gallifrey to re-emerge (by not really ever being gone) and have all of the stories in the new series still make sense. It really isn't anything too difficult for modern comics and sci-fi fans to digest though. I'm willing to forgive any little inconsistencies in continuity (I'm a superhero comic fan, I have a lot of experience in this, ha) to gain all the story potential of the Doctor having his homeworld back. This will be a new level of Doctor Who storytelling I think. With the resources and complications of having his world again, this is a Doctor that can see large scale dramatics and conflicts with all the different factions that will stand with and against Gallifrey. Can't wait for it!

I think you are spot on with your assessment. It seemed very much like a fresh start all the way around. One cycle wraps on the 50th anniversary and another one begins anew. I have no prior experience with Capaldi so I'm still curious how this new Doctor will be.

You haven't seen the Christmas special yet? I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm not sure if I can tell how successful it was as a transition to the next phase in the Doctor's history until I see where it goes next, but it was satisfying for the most part.

Bronze Tiger has been cool and I would love to see a Suicide Squad. Heck, I'd love to see a Squad series. I don't really care if Waller is skinny or big anymore than I cared that they turned Nick Fury into Sam Jackson. If the character works I don't care. I'm also hoping for a Grundy ep sooner than later.
Laurel has been such a flat character. She is the Lana Lang of this show. I really hope that with a certain person's influence on her life she finds new purpose. I'd love to see her as part of the Birds of Pretty support team. I know I'm skipping ahead there, and that Huntress hasn't met Black Canary yet, but you just know that's where they are going.
Dunno what is up with Moira yet. I am a bit disappointed in the Blood part of the storyline. But whatever. I'm enjoying the rest of it.

Just wondering what everyone thought of the first New 52 animated feature, Justice League: War.
First off, before I watched War, I ran across a Target exclusive that also came out this week called JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time. I didn't know what to expect here, as I knew it was more of an all-ages friendly release and it got almost not hype whatsoever compared to War. It was adapted from an old Super Friends episode as well. But, I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was at times a little too simplistic animation-wise and had a few goofy moments. Like say a walk on by Marvin and Wendy. But for the most part it had a great energy and was a whole lot of fun. The Bizarro scenes were great! Robin was spunky but not a jerk. Batman's costume was a little weird but I always love seeing the oval Bat-symbol. Superman was sporting the New 52 costume, but still was the old characterization. And the way they presented Aquaman, as a bright and heroic figure based off of the Ramona Fradon era, is pretty much the closest I've seen to what I tried to accomplish in my version here at the DC2. They brought in Legion members Dawnstar and Karate Kid as direct homages to the exterior heroes from classic Super Friends - Samurai and Apache Chief. All to take down an ill-advised team-up of the Legion of Doom and Time Trapper. All around cool stuff.
Now on to Justice League: War. I have to admit, as bad as the animation was in Flashpoint Paradox I still really enjoyed it. The action and concepts were well presented and even some of the hard edged action scenes were very effective. So, I was looking forward to this one. And man, it did NOT deliver for me. The character moments were sparse and hollow. The profanity was used often and to no more apparent effect than to just seem more "mature". The League bickered and insulted each other the whole time. Did every scene need to include one of them calling the other a moron, idiot, or smart ass? Very little happened. It seemed like just one long mundane action sequence. Cyborg's origin was strange and the character was shown to be a anti-tech jock turned cyber hero? It was an awkward character arc. Throne of Atlantis is teased as the next storyline to be adapted so it seems they choose to jump ahead and swap Aquaman for Shazam to get his character some screen time. I haven't really read the New 52 version of Billy Batson, but... ugh. Even the exuberance of Sean Astin didn't really bring this around for me after he transformed into the Captain. Superman was flat. Batman, eh. His usual. Green Lantern was barely likeable. The characters that stood out as being any fun at all were Wonder Woman and Flash, but were drowned out in all the explosions and sarcasm. Even at the end, it's like they admit to not liking each other so much as it would rather be good for PR not to be horrible to each other. The final fight with Darkseid picked up some and had some intrigue beyond hit and destroy, but then quickly descended into just trying to knock him back into a boom tube for ten minutes. This one just fell flat for me guys. It was a chore trying to even finish watching it, and that's definitely not what I was hoping for. Even more sad is that this is the first animated feature by DC that I don't feel like I can watch with my kids. There is something wrong about that.

Didn't they come back and say Gotham would heavily feature a young teen Bruce Wayne? I remember some Gotham High jokes floating around.
If they go a little more supernatural Sting (as Moore intended) and a little less Keanu for Constantine my interest level will be high enough to give it a shot. I'm wondering if they'll be organized and forward thinking enough to tie it into the DCU Dark movie Guillermo is working on.

It was cool seeing some Deathstroke action this week. Not sure where they are going with Roy, but he's been a junkie and a clone so super powers seems like a positive step comparatively.

I tell you guys, if you aren't already catching this show - it's good stuff!
I was hesitant at first. Smallville went on too long. How long is debatable but by the end I was unsure of a new CW show. And the first part of the first season was heavy on drama and a little slow. But by the end of season one it had picked up considerably, and season two hit the ground running and just keeps getting better, in my opinion. The action scenes have always been solid and inventive even. And now the DC lore is coming on strong and there are a whole slew of DC concepts characters in play.
What do you all think?

Hey! Welcome to the premiere issue of The Meta Teens!
It's been a few years in the making and chances are that veterans of the site have seen the cover image at some point over the years. But with the renewed push on DC2 and the revival of the Earth-Two continuity, Mr. Scott Cook has taken up the charge with the Meta Teens story in an awesome way. He has taken this concept and absolutely made it his own. I am honored and in awe at the enthusiasm with which he has attacked this project, and I'm front row and center on watching this fun story finally take off in a way that is pretty much spot on in my opinion. And I guarantee you, I've seen a little of what's to come and Mr. Cook is just getting started!
Hopefully you all have just at much fun with this new era in the DC2 Multiverse. Please, drop us a line and let us know what you think of The Meta Teens!
