Okay, we're about halfway through Jonah's "Love and War" arc (as well as nearing the end of Don's Johnny Thunder epic), and so far, you kids seem to like it. As always, I'm glad for the comments, so keep them cards and letters coming, folks, we've still got a few more issues to go.
On that note, let me give you a heads-up on what's coming next. No, I'm not gonna lay out spoilers, but pay attention anyhow. First off, Jonah's will be getting into the Christmas spirit when DC2's annual Holiday Special rolls out in December...and that story falls in continuity between WWQ#16 and 17, so don't miss it. Then there's issue #17 itself, dropping in January: me and Don are teaming up to bring you one long, interweaving story instead of our usual two-for-one deal. I'm really looking forward to that, and I hope you are too.
For WWQ#18, Don's flying solo as he tells us more about Johnny's battle against the mysterious Bray & Steele (and for those enjoying the JT portion of our title, you may want to look in the latest issues of All-Star Comics for a special Easter egg!). Don't think I'm taking a vacation this coming spring, though, because I'll be hard at work behind the scenes putting the finishing touches on something special.
As you've probably already heard, our favorite scar-faced bounty hunter actually suckered Hollywood into making a movie about him. That drops June 18, 2010, and I decided that we can't let a once-in-a-lifetime moment like that pass by without some sort of celebration. So just like the release of Jonah Hex#1 back in 2005 was accompanied here on DC2 by the debut of Weird Western Quarterly, the premiere of the Jonah Hex movie will be heralded by something we just had to call the WEIRD WESTERN SPECTACULAR. You old-school Hex-nuts probably recognize the significance of that particular adjective, and we're gonna do our damnedest to live up to it. As of this writing, we've got three stories lined up for our lil' special, with hopefully more to come, plus pin-ups and whatever else we can shoehorn in there without crashing the server.
Once we've swept up the confetti and recycled the beer bottles from that party, we'll head straight into the last two parts of "Love and War", which comes to a harrowing end in WWQ#20. Geez, twenty issues! I still remember getting excited when we reached ten! Where the heck does the time go?
In short, 2010 is going to be a big year, both for Jonah Hex and WWQ. Hope y'all will stick around and enjoy the fireworks.
