i think they're all right. i like the music, its just the lyrics...theyre so immature. i mean ,they don't even make sense half the time.

I've been a Peppers fan since Mother's Milk. Love'em, and one of the few bands to remain consistently strong in material over a long period of time. "The Other Side" is such a good video!
FLEA!

Ah, screw the other guys. I mostly like the Frusciante stuff. Heck, I even owned his solo album at one time. Navarro was okay on One Hot Minute but it just wasn't the same. I haven't read Scar Tissue but I'll have to check it out!

I like old school Peppers... I haven't enjoyed anything since Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I saw them live as well... and I don't know if it was just the time I saw them, but they were HORRIBLE! Absolutely God-awful.
Maybe I just caught them on an off night... but I left early. They were that bad... and I've sat through some bad shows...

i didnt really like them, but a cousin told me that he went to a concert of theirs once and they were indeed god awful. This was around the time of Californication when they got kinda big again but he said they sucked. They tried new stuff and kept restarting over and over and it just was not worth it. Maybe it wasn't just that show scott.

I saw them at Lollapalooza in the early 90s and the show was fan-freakin-tastic! Maybe it was the all-day heat exposure or that it was a short set, but they were great when I saw them. Full force, great sound, and amazing stage presence, they did a dead-on "Higher Ground" and then wrapped up with a cover of Hendrix's "Crosstown Traffic" (wearing their underwear and chrome biker hats with 3-foot tall gas-powered torches on top). One of the coolest shows ever in my book. home.att.net/~grungehistory/Lollapalooza.jpg

I went there to see, specifically, RHCP, Ministry & that new band Pearl Jam... unfortunately, RHCP were just bad that day. I wish I could have seen them on a good day, because I too have heard they can be great...

I keep hearing from my mates that "By the Way in no way stands up to Californication" but in all honesty, Cali' does nothing for me. I don't like the jumping around anarchisty RHCP, I prefer the rocky stuff, By the Way, Can't Stop... Favourite songs... Under the Bridge, Minor Thing, Venice Queen and Fortune Faded.

Yes. I think I do. Dave Matthews is a fantastic talent, but not the greatest live band of the modern era. I shall return with details of who actually is! Eventually...

I saw the DMB live last summer...
HORRIBLE!
Every song was 10-15 minutes long (at least that's what it fely like)... and I love their albums.
Now... Coldplay. There's the best live band I've seen in years. Right up there with the Cure...

naahh... coldplay is soft and whiny. slipknot is a good live band. system of a down is a good live band. coldplay is kinda lame altogether. you have no idea how much I am resisting quoting that movie 40 year old virgin.

Metallica are one of the worlds greatest live bands, because they bring something to the performances (and Lars spits on the crowd. ROCK AND ROLLLL!) but I don't think I'm allowed to say it's of the modern era, but if it is, it would rock DMB out the water of rock.
Get me?

I have most of the live DVDs. Awesome stuff, but yeah, true, I don't truly know the METALLICA live experience, but the DVDs rule.

I've seen Metallica twice and they have a solid show. Er, well, they did have a solid show about ten years ago. I can't speak for them now. And it seems to be cool to rail on Coldplay these days. One of those target groups that the "hard edge" guys like to take shots at to more fully define themselves.

I love Coldplay! I'm not ashamed to admit it! And I'm straight... so you can resist your quote a little longer there Ramon!
I was into the harder edged rock for so long that I got burnt out on it. I can't listen to Metallica anymore... not since 'And Justice For All...' Slip Knot sounds like every other screaming band to me anymore. I realised that either the music changed, or I was going to start killing people on my morning & evening commute. I still delve into the heavier stuff now & then, I love Marilyn Manson, Rob (& White) Zombie, Ministry... But, I prefer bands like Coldplay, Depeche Mode, the Cure, Keane, Embrace & others that don't feel the need to scream all the time.

I was wary of Slipknot, but borrowed Vol 3, The Subliminal Verses off a friend, and it's not all screaming. Example: Vermillion Part 1 and 2, and Duality... Before I Forgot. I can't actually listen to all out SCREAM rock, it pisses me off. It's not real music, it's just an excuse for those of us with an inclination for ugliness and a strong screaming voice to get somewhere. Foo Fighters... Now they do a fantastic live show. Better than DMB (studio anyway, I've never seen a DMB concert, but have listened to live tracks!) Romans! If you don't like my opinion, I challenge you to email me what you think are good DMB live tracks. I dare ya.

I saw Metallica live three times. Once during the Monsters of Rock tour in Tampa I think in '88? They put on a good show indeed! I would love to see the Foo Fighters live! I just missed them when they were here last summer! Coldplay was here I think Friday? My wife loves them! It's funny that you didn't like the live show there Lantern Lad! They are a live band type band. No they don't spit out the songs exactly like on the albums, if they did why go? I know thats what most band do live. But most bands couldn't sell a live album to save their lives! DMB has put out live album after live album, why? because they sound that good! They don't need studio remixes to hide their flaws! I won't defend the band because you don't have to like them but you can't deny their the top tour year after year(look it up)! I personally love them. But show me a band that has put out such a large catalog of live stuff with as much success as Dave and the boys. Show me a more successful live tour year after year! That says something. It says talent. You may not like the music but the boys do what they do better then anyone out there! Charlie anytime you want those live tracks just shoot me over your email OK? It seems that the same people who like to bash Coldplay like to bash DMB as well. I went through my 'scream at me not sing' phase. I am past that. So I will just sit in the corner listening to DMB with a 100 million of my closest friends!

I thought the DMB played well... and I understand the need to change up songs not only for the artists sake, but for the audiences as well... and I own a number of live DMB CD's & DVD's. Honestly I do love the band (except their latest album, didn't thrill me it was overly produced, which I know was the point, but it didn't sit right with me), but the show I saw wasn't good 10-15 minute versions of songs usually aren't bad, as long as their not retetative & that is what it was this particular night. The same 4-5 chords over & over again. The highlight was the Bartender & When the World Ends, also both very long, but songs that work well when played live & long.

Overkill, played out, I dunno, but they just started to bug me. I still like Kill 'Em All but thats IT, I think I am with you for most of that scott, EXCEPT coldplay. since clocks or yellow and all that they just were a band I really didnt like. it was slow boring and really really overhyped. side note- I wish I was born earlier so I could have seen those shows you guys did. I have seen slipknot, papa roach, system of a down, raamstein, mudvayne, motley crue (kicked too much ass on that last tour) and a few others but geez.. I wish I coulda seen some of those older bands in their prime. by the time I will be able to theyll probably all be dead.

Well I completely understand your thoughts on the show. I have seen a lot of DMB shows. Some have been better then others. But overall the Denver shows always rock so maybe I am spoiled, biased, or both? And yes I agree with you about the last album. It was overproduced but I still enjoy it especially 'hello again'. They went through a lot of the new stuff in September when I saw them at Red Rocks. But since I saw two of the four shows i saw a lot of good stuff. I am still waiting to get the DVD/CD box set. Maybe for my B-day? But since my wife never comes on here she wont see this so maybe not

Do what I do! Make a list... My wife always either follows the list to the best of her abilities, or shares it with others!
I've always wanted to see a show at the Red Rocks... I'm jealous! I'm going to the Anaheim Pond tomorrow to see Coldplay & the House of Blues on the 19th to see Social Distortion.

I do feel privileged to see some shows at Red Rocks. It is a great venue!
But you living in Cali...you get all the great artists!
