ahh yes, since i cannot get enough of arguing about little things, i propose THIS, what is your single favorite comic book cover of ALL TIME! its tough no? well... since i asked, i think i will answer first. my favorite that I can think of is first of all, the composition is not only simple but really brilliant! just a white background and the characters drawn tightly together. the colors are bold and the characters are so... awesome looking! I remember when i first started reading comics i would puill tpbs from my library and when i saw this i was a bit stand offish because it is kinda plain in comparison to the morrison era covers but until i read it i never really appreciated it. in itself it is kind of sarcastic and ironic because it was the beginning of witty JLA but the cover was sooo badass. really compliments the issue and whole the giffen/dematteis era perfectly. its my pick. number one.

Starman #57-62 How can you not love seeing every Starman united in one fantastic montage piece?

Oh wait, wrong one! Um, let's see..... This one. Great question by the way and one almost impossible for me to answer. I LOVE COVER ART! There were like a half dozen or more I could have put here but this is the last image that really struck me. Brian Bolland's artwork here sums up at once the metafiction of Morrison's run on this title, and even deeper with the crucifixion imagery that shows you yet another layer of the complex creator/character relationship going on here. Brilliant cover, imho.

Um... As a Batman fan, I really like this cover. It shows so many versions of Batman by different artists throughout the decades. I actually got this one off E-Bay just for the cover!

Ooo, good one! Some of these tie-in issues were actually the coolest part of Zero Hour I thought. This issue, the one where Tim Drake met young Dick Grayson, the pre-Crisis Superboy meeting Kon-el, etc. Those and the fact that the Jack Knight STARMAN series spun out of it. I think Charlie will agree with me on that one.

For my favorite Marvel cover it would have to be this one... SECRET WARS was a pretty cool crossover and certainly my favorite Marvel event (Joe Q. should takes notes from this one). There were several great moments and the covers reflected those perfectly: the villian cover that mirrored the hero layout on the first issue, Hulk holding up a mountain, & the debut of Spider-man's black costume. But this one was super cool. Dr. Doom went for broke in an all-out bid for capturing the Beyonder's power and got his butt thoroughly trounced. But it paid off for him and you get the frightening scenario of a godlike Doom that the heroes had to face down in the last two issues. This of course was followed by the lamest crossover ever, Secret Wars II, where the Beyonder decided to come and hang out on Earth, get a bad perm, and start wearing 80s jumpsuits that were so stupid-looking they would have embarassed Micheal Jackson. I'm not kidding.

marvel> hurmm... admittedly i never read the issue but c'mon, look at that! probably my favorite marvel cover for an issue i never read, but looking at the cover, i want to! I just remember seeing it in a wizard article about essential marvel and it always stood out to me. kingpin's quest to make DD's life utter hell.

Rai #0 has always been one of my favorites. It is so simple for cover art (only 3 colors) but it so dynamic at the same time.

I couldn;t figure out how to post an image, so here's the link. www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=51114&zoom=4It's so simple and in my opinion the best cover featuring Deadshot. You just know the guy reflected in his eyepiece is unbelievably dead.

I have to admit, I had to fight the urge to post a Rob Liefeld cover up here.
I mean really fight the urge.
...but I'm over it, for now.

Well, in the interest of compare and contrast I see no reason why we couldn't post our LEAST favorite covers as well. (the one where Captain America has the breasts, that one, do it!)

There's just something about this cover... I had to open it to find out what the f@ck was going through their heads. "You can't pin a medal on a Gorilla" I would've never though of that buyline. and a Joe Kubert cover at that! edit: had to move the cover so I could post it.

Well I know it's not a 'classic' but I think that this Birds of Prey cover is awesome! Huntress has a new costume, there's two "mystery" characters and it's just like a new start!

That's a cool Flash cover. I like the fact that Flash sucker punches Bats, kicks Hal in the face, yet just shoves WW out of the way. He may have gone psycho, but he's still a gentleman. ;D
