Whoa! The Justice League hunted and on the run! A member quits the League! A new Chairperson!
What a way to begin this crisis!
A few things seemed off: Max Lord being referred to as "Presidnt of the Free World" (did he get a promotion?), J'onn calling Diana "my queen" (since when was he a subject of Diana's--- and isn't Diana still in exile?), stuff like that, but otherwise a nice start to the mini!
You can't help but feel things are really changing for the League--- and the heroes of the DC2 in general! And not for the better. Who are those mysterious figures and their shadowy leader in the Armani suit? What's up with those sleeper agents, and how long has that been going on?!?!
And would somebody please tell me how and when Steve Trevor got out of that wheelchair?
I loved how J'onn dealt with the super-soldiers sent after him, especially--- but the other attempted assassinations were good as well. In fact, I think J'onn came off best in this issue! Well done, Charlie!
Great cliffhanger ending! At last, we learn the villain behind this event (though it seems there are still more surprised coming)!

President of the Free World is something Ive heard the President reffered to as before...well he kinda is. The use of it all was for sarcastic effect since at that time he was being given orders. And my Queen is just a freindly show of confidence and respect. Thats how Id interpret it at any rate. One another note AWESOME ISSUE! One of the best Ive read on this site. Im loving this crisis so far!

President of the Free World is something Ive heard the President reffered to as before...well he kinda is. I think you (and the writer) are thinking of Leader of the Free World... Well, obviously... But I think "Your Royal Highness" or "Majesty" is more appropriate. Not being a subject of the British crown but holding all due respect for it, I would still never refer to Elizabeth II as " my queen" when she comes over to mine to play Parcheesi on Thursday nights. The same distinction holds true for the Martian Manhunter. On that note, Happy Independence Day, all our American members! It's been 231 years since we threw off the yolk of British tyranny and were forced to refer to the monarch as "my queen!" ;D Not that we're rubbing it in or anything...

I read that issue and didn't catch that at all... Can you be more specific, Charlie? Mark? Have I missed something?

Well then there's been a mix-up in communication with the editor and the writer. I thought that because of Wonder Woman's meddling with the time-stream, he got the use of his legs back. If the editor, who wrote that story, didn't know, well I don't know what to say.
But yay, go crisis.
Pssh.

Batman was right.
Starro just bit off more than it can chew.
Good stuff here, but I'm sure that Starro and it's "supporters" knew these attacks wouldn't work; they were just rubbing it in, as it were. A challenge.
A challenge the League will answer.

Starro the Conquerer is attacking Earth! Maxwell Lord has some kind of hand in this1 What I assume are Batman's villains are uniting! Awesome!
Seriously, great issue. I like how you bounced back and forth between PoV's of the Starro attack. Pretty trippy stuff. Keep it up!

Yep, I was right: the spit has hit the fan. Pretty good, save for a couple of bumps here and there. I say we write off Trevor's miraculous healing as a lovely side-effect of the Starro thingy that got stuck on him...yeah, this is comics, man, anything's possible... ;D And did I read that right about Hal pointing with his ring finger? Awfully rude thing to do, I think.

Great stuff. The intrigue and all the subterfuge really boggles my mind. I don't know how you guys do it. I liked Batmans 'tude, he seemed to switch back a little in the end though, but I get it's all because he knows lots more than he letting on. I just don't know when he figured it out. And Atom is great! He says things I think I would say. Would you guys stop doing that! Great stuff. The flash, the way he's written, it's likek he acts and it happens as fast as he thinks it! Kudos! (isn't that a cheese snack?) Roy

I got a bit confused at the Metropolis part of the story. 'He opened the door to his apartment, and looked at Lois Lane as she entered.' Was she out side his apartment? It wasn't clear enough for my simple mind. The story was perfect beside the aforemention part. I didn't realize that here in DC2, Bart is the son of Barry Allen and not the grandson.(Interesting) Using people that the heroes close to was awesome. Really loved the humor between Hawkman and the Atom. I just hope that this isn't grounds for a divorce or else Ralph's wife is in deep do-do. Great opening for this 'summer event'. I look forward to the next issues and the tie-ins. So I'm off to read Action Comics #20. Plus an absolutely beautiful cover. Craig and Ramon are just an unbelievable 'Dynamic Duo'.(Pun Intended) Great job by all involved in with this issue. Mischief

I just wanted to add my two cents here and say that this story was 99.9% all Charlie's. The young man did an outstanding job on opening up this mini. The first chapter of a story, for me at least, is always the hardest, and Charlie rose to the occasion and really put out some of his best work on this one. I'm very proud of this first issue, and Charlie should be as well. Great job, young man. Great job!

oops, I think I posted me response in the wrong letter column. My original comment was for JLA ...I wondered where my letter went. Oh well, it's just that crazy goofy Roy again. Anyway I liked this issue too! It's interesting to kinda see the rest of the group on Batmans element. I wasn't expecting the bartender either. Roy

Sorry about the confusion. Great color by RIZ and Ramon. The orignial non-colored image was just awesome and Ramon truly did it justice.
I was wrong and thanks for the correction.

The Crisis is here and led off with our very own House Of Mystery. Not a bad choice I would say. There were times when I think you were trying to hard to make this ‘event’ like and it showed in the dialogue. There is no denying your love of the characters and the fact that you know how to add your own special spin on them. The scenes at the end kind of got repetitive with nearly all of the JL members being attacked and shot at, but it was still interesting to see who would attack them. I especially liked the way J'onn kicked ass here!
Some other personal highlights for me were:
Barry vibrating through the raindrops Clark asking if they really call him and Batman ‘The Dynamic Duo’ Picking Wonder Woman as the new Chairperson How creepy Batman sounded at the end with his ‘not losing to a giant starfish’ line
I can imagine that this was a tough issue to write being the first of the mini series but you managed to keep the story building with enough momentum to carry over to the next issue and a great start to the Crisis!

The Crisis is here and led off with our very own House Of Mystery. Not a bad choice I would say. Thankeh kindly! There were times when I think you were trying to hard to make this ‘event’ like and it showed in the dialogue. I don't get you, sorry? There is no denying your love of the characters and the fact that you know how to add your own special spin on them. Thanks...? The scenes at the end kind of got repetitive with nearly all of the JL members being attacked and shot at, but it was still interesting to see who would attack them. I especially liked the way J'onn kicked ass here! MM was the one I was most worried about, and wrote an entire extra segment for, but it was deemed pointless, and I understand why. And I totally get you with the repetitivness. Some other personal highlights for me were: This'll be cool! Barry vibrating through the raindrops That was Mark building on what I had written, a very cool suggestion by the editor. Clark asking if they really call him and Batman ‘The Dynamic Duo’ Heh, that was mine! Picking Wonder Woman as the new Chairperson Yeah, I liked that too. How creepy Batman sounded at the end with his ‘not losing to a giant starfish’ line HA! I love Batman I can imagine that this was a tough issue to write being the first of the mini series but you managed to keep the story building with enough momentum to carry over to the next issue and a great start to the Crisis! Thank you John, it means a lot to me.

I just meant that some of the dialogue seemed a little much. Like you were making an extra effort to have the characters have so many important lines that it felt unnatural.
This was in no way a dig on you. You always bring a distinct voice or 'feel' to whatever you do. And when you don't force things it is always interesting to see what you come up with.

Hey guys. I have been super busy the last few weeks, but I finally got caught up with this series today and just wanted to say you guys are doing a great job! The writing in each issue is strong, and the character ring true each time out! It's like half action epic, half political thriller.
The only thing I might suggest for future big ass stories like this is to remember that every character doesn't need to have something important to say or do. This is, in my view, where DC series like Crisis on Infinite Earths, Zero Hour and Infinite Crisis always get it wrong. They pack their stories with so many characters, giving each one something to say or do, that the story gets bogged down.
But overall, great job, fellas.
