And Sam, that Amethyst Christmas idea sounds like a lot of fun. I'm psyched. WHO WANTS TO DO THE COVER?!

Bugger.
A challenge! I accept!

Also, YES. Who would be interested in contributing toward a DC2 HOLIDAY SPECIAL? A collection of short stories that can have a holiday theme or simply be a short story about a character you love or care for. Good call, Sam. Exactly what we need. That could be fun. Maybe something out of left field like Simon Dark?

I might chip in something weird and/or whacky for a Christmas special. I at least know I want to.

Welcome back, everybody.

Hey there, kids. Not up for contributing to the IXE or the Holiday thing at the moment, but I am glad to see new activity here (and new faces!). Makes me wish I had more energy these days.
And time.
And a puppy.
Okay, the puppy isn't necessary for contributing to DC2, but I figured since I was listing wishes... ;D

Anyone got any ideas yet? Anyone writing?
I found Green Lantern #28 in my GoogleDocs, I wrote it last year but never "released" it. It's now in the hands of Mark and will be up... tonight??? Tomorrow??? I can't remember how this goes, but I'm psyched.
And then this weekend I wrote the final issue of this volume of Green Lantern! #29 wraps up my run to an extent. Then in January... Volume 3 launches! Because I am DIABOLICAL!

Working on re-tooling my Earth-A Aquaman and Hawkman--- but more on that later! More importantly (at least to me), I'm working on the wrap-up to Justice Society of America. That's right--- the end. World War III. Double-D-Day. Blaze of Glory and all that.

I'm leaping back into my Superman run on Adventure Comics, and am very excited about that. Oh, yes! Can't wait to see that. Not for lacking of trying, but I think I always fumbled with Superman. I loved writing the stories I wrote him in (Black Zero! Oh, my!) but he's so noble... all my ideas and mission statements for the character have never translated well. That's right--- the end. World War III. Double-D-Day. Blaze of Glory and all that. And I do believe we have an artist very much chomping at the bit to do the covers! Sounds like we've got a spate of awesome work coming our way from you, David!

The writing on issue one of Swamp Thing will be done this week, then submitted, then etc. Then there's a fun Luthor concept I've been kicking around with Cody that could be gobs of fun to write.

Somebody get Susie a puppy! Well we can't have Christmas Wishes unfulfilled!!! SQUEEEE!!!!! I gots a puppy! ;D Been doing some thinking about different directions I could move my titles in, depending on what exactly we're doing with the DC2 in general, so I reckon I'm ready for whatever comes down the pike. Again, glad to see new activity here and fresh design work and all sorts of joy-joy feelings abounding, y'know?

Me too, I've been basically trying to work through my ideas and seeing what works in Earth One, what could be Earth A, etc. etc. Yeah, that might be a notion we should start discussing: organization ideas. Do we keep the issue/multiverse concept, or perhaps we'd be better served by braking things up by characters only, therefore putting all versions of, say, Batman, in one forum, as opposed to a title for Earth-A Batman and DC2 Original Batman and DCNu Batman and on and on...

I agree. I know the montra is: JUST WRITE, however I believe that some direction might help clear up some potential "issues" and encourage those who might be hesitant as indicated by some other posts.

A "Where does this pitch go?" Thread could be useful. All a new writer has to do is give a quick pitch of what characters they want to use and vague story points, and those of us who know the different corners of the site could say "that's something we've never done, so you can stick it anywhere," or "well, on Earth-5 so-and-so did a story similar to that, so maybe you're better in earth-A" or "well, you can't use Earth-1 because that character died off a while back."
I definitely think the shared universe needs to be kept. I like this site for being shared rather than just posting individual fic into the void somewhere else. Organizing by universe is good for me.
Kyle - the only thing is we don't want to try and make anyone feel forced to write a particular character or title. On Earth-5 we never ended up having anyone interested in Superman, so we just wrote him out of continuity instead. Better to have people so invested in second-tier characters that they become first-tier in this continuity, than have someone feel stuck writing Superman half-assed.

I also agree that stories should be distinct to their own universe, so new and emerging writers and artists can know how and where to fit their work.
Unless anyone has any objection, I say for Earth-A we go back to the original intention (that is to say before Elbe's stewardship of the idea), in that it is essentially a basic DCU with all the traditional elements (last son of Krypton, Dark Knight Detective, Amazon princess in Man's World on a mission of peace, etc).
For Earth-A, the only thing I would amend is instead of starting five years into the dawn of superheroes (as we did with Earth-One), maybe we should shorten the time frame--- say three years? Superman debuted three years ago, Batman and Wonder Woman soon after, then the rest. Justice League's been around for a year.
(whoever writes Batman should note this, as this makes a difference when it comes to who is Robin, given the ages and time elapsed)
Does this work for everyone?

At this point I would just like to remind everyone that the Multiverse and Elseworlds are still there to accomodate everything that doesn't fit elsewhere.
