Back for another issue. Wrote this early January back-to-back with #1 and I made a very conscious decision to play with the format, have the "back-up" be longer, have the middle part be shorter but more immediate so it doesn't feel like it's lagging. Rather happy with how it turned out!
Big thanks to Vinny for such an atmospheric, dread-filled cover. Really enjoying the calibre of covers we're experiencing on the site right now. We're all very lucky!
Next issue is going to be horrible. I intend to make it an absolute horror show.
...
I hope you stick around!

Read both issues together. So far, John seems to be on top of things. Revealing his ID was....interesting. The backstory is good, too.
I notice a lot of 1/2 marks throughout the second issue, though?

I notice a lot of 1/2 marks throughout the second issue, though? Thanks for pointing this out, Jay. Things should all be corrected now.

Really proud to be bringing John Stewart into the DC2. Hal is swell and all but I like the ability to start at the ground floor and work my way up to something and basically "introducing" a character gives me the opportunity to do that.

I stopped reading comics for just about the entire decade of the nineties (and didn't resume until 2004--- though I did do some selective ex post facto catch-up , missing the whole rise and popularity of multiple earth GLs, so I lacked any kind of nostalgia or connection to folks like John Stewart or Kyle Rayner--- until now, that is! John Stewart is awesome...! SPOILERS BELOW--- Not only does he bring a new dimension to ringslinging (he essentially hacked a bunch of Mother Boxes and pwned a New God ), but he does it while keeping it all within the familiar context of Green Lantern as we've come to know and love this title. Or should I say, Charlie does. This writer had never been quite so on top of his game, and this book is a bonafide hit in my book. Can't wait to see JS on Apokolips. Should be NUTS!And what a great cover by new DC2 artist VinnySmith! Bad ass pic of John, with the ominous figures of the parademons coming out of the dark... Very evocative! Looking forward to seeing more from this new talent!

Holy Crap! John is shaping up to be a highly resourceful GL and a powerful one at that. Covering the entire state of New York while throwing down with a New God and Parademons all the while trying to convice the mother boxes to ship them off back to where they came. Plus loved how John dealt with Devilance, The Pursuer at the end was fantastic. This is the GL action I have been missing and craving. Until next time.

John Stewart is awesome...! Welcome to my world Not only does he bring a new dimension to ringslinging (he essentially hacked a bunch of Mother Boxes and pwned a New God ), but he does it while keeping it all within the familiar context of Green Lantern as we've come to know and love this title. One of the comic runs I always wanted to read was Joe Casey's Adventures of Superman #613-624, wherein he makes Superman a pacifist. A guy who doesn't throw any punches and instead thinks around problems. That's what I wanted to do here. Sure, John throws down with the best of them, but he's always thinking, he's always evaluating his next move and will use his power ring in ways that Hal, Guy and Hank never thought to. You'll see this more next issue, when we meet the main villain of the piece. Or should I say, Charlie does. This writer had never been quite so on top of his game, and this book is a bonafide hit in my book. Can't wait to see JS on Apokolips. Should be NUTS!Thank you! I hope I don't disappoint... And what a great cover by new DC2 artist VinnySmith! Bad ass pic of John, with the ominous figures of the parademons coming out of the dark... Very evocative! Looking forward to seeing more from this new talent! We've already discussed our follow up collaboration and it is going to be insane. I promise you that!

I love Devilance so I wanted to bring him back to the DC2 in a big way. He was the first New God we met (in a big way) way back when we wrote IXE: The Apokolips Imperative so what better way to bring back all the Apokoliptikan New Gods than have him turn up? That said I'm considering doing something crazy with him in the coming months, because you can't just leave a guy imprisoned in a moon... can you?

John displayed some major bad-assery in this issue. I'm really enjoying how you place us in his head and showing us his thought processes. Hacking the motherboxes and imprisioning a God in a planet! He's showing a lot of resourcefullness for a new GL, but reading the backup story, you see that its always been there.
Very awesome and creative start to the new volume (saying that while needing to catch up on the previous one). Like Dave said above, we're seeing a new dimension to ring-slinging and I'm loving it.

He's showing a lot of resourcefullness for a new GL, but reading the backup story, you see that its always been there. John hasn't really been on Earth much since he got the ring. He was shipped off to Oa for training in Volume 1, #26, and had a pretty hardcore training schedule throughout the whole Predator arc... he's had more off world training that any of the other Lanterns! Guy didn't have ANY, he just flew around being evil thanks to LEGION, Hal popped over to Oa every now and then but didn't do the intensive... to be fair, Hank had his training, but look what happened to him? Very awesome and creative start to the new volume (saying that while needing to catch up on the previous one). Like Dave said above, we're seeing a new dimension to ring-slinging and I'm loving it. Thanks, man! See you soon!

Well, we're drowning on posts right now, aren't we?
Umm.
Okay, so Green Lantern #3 is halfway done, but I'm just waiting on the cover before I start heading toward the finishing line. I've got an artist lined up but I'm not posting the ish without some cover art, so I just thought I'd let you know that things are moving, but very slowly.
I've also been told the cover to Green Lantern #4 is coming along nicely, so things should speed right back up after this momentary blip. Keep reading, true believ-- wait, no, wrong one...
