And a big thank you to Jamie Rimmer for the brand new costume that Arisia's wearing, I'm looking forward to seeing it again in the future-- especially considering the plans Don and I have for the book!

So this issue is kind of a mission statement of how we're moving forward with the title, more so than last issue's "solo outing" for Hank Henshaw. That's not to say we won't have more solo outings moving forward! #56 and #57 spotlight John Stewart and Kyle Rayner respectively, because when we last saw them in the aftermath of SCARLET REIGN there was plenty left to be said-- but the idea is that with Green Lantern being retitled Green Lantern Corps, we should show a lot more of the world-- the universe-- than just one guy flitting about spouting one liners about flying a plane and what not.
So we're expanding our scope-- the idea is that every issue will feature an Arisia and Katma story by Don as well as a story with any number of our Lanterns written by myself. Sometimes Don's story will be the lead feature, sometimes it'll be mine. Sometimes the narratives will weave in and out of one another, like with this issue, other times it'll be split down the middle. I know that Don has a number of stories planned for this book, and so do I, and while we've been a little bit slower with production than we would have liked, I am psyched psyched psyched for where we're going.
This three-parter came from a kernel of an idea borne from Don and my shared love of Marvel's Hercules. You'll see a lot of that love in Don's side of the book, which features a veritable Guardians of the Galaxy cast with Captain Comet, the young Aleea Strange, Green Lantern Katma and Love Lantern Arisia. Their story involves Atmos, the Auhlmost Prince and Champion of the Imperial Throne --!
I loved the way the characters bounced off each other, and you know exactly who they are from the way they talk, the way they carry themselves, and the way in which they are well and truly heroes. Captain Comet has always been a character I enjoyed, and the work we've done with Aleea Strange across the DC2niverse is something I'm very proud of. I'm glad that my decision to put a Star Sapphire ring on Arisia's finger has stuck, and the stuff Don has planned for the character moving forward is exciting, like I said earlier.
My stuff, on the other hand, was an attempt to mix things up. Last time we saw Arisia and Guy they were dating, but that's over with now. It made sense in the time when writing them to make that happen, just as it makes sense now to do away with their burgeoning relationship. Where it takes the two of them will be another thing that will be fun to write-- and hopefully to read!
The overall plan for the "Earth" stories is to feature Hank and John. Hank is a true DC2 creation, taking a regular DC character and doing something new and interesting. Missing Cyborg Superman? Well, keep reading. We'll see what happens. John is swapped with Guy in this issue because Guy's moping, and while we've seen John and Guy bounce off each other before, Hank and Guy is something new and they shared something very dark in the past-- they were both possessed by the Predator entity. That connection is something they'll never be able to get rid of, and I love exploring it. Guy will eventually head off back into space, where he's the Corps' trouble shooter, and that'll bring him into the orbit of Kyle Rayner-- current White Lantern-- and Thaal Sinestro-- current Green Lantern.
Lots of things to come, lots of things to be read, and lots of things I'm excited Don and I get to share with you! Sorry for the rant, but if you get a minute, check out the issue and let us now what you think-- next issue out soon--!

Hello everybody! While I've not exactly been absent, this weekend I've been in a small village on the border of Wales called Hay-on-Wye, which is full of bookshops, so that was a blast. Picked up some 2000AD Showcase issues that Quality Comics put out in the nineties, containing the US reprints of Grant Morrison's Zenith run (Phase 2, if I remember rightly), as well as loads of cool reference books for my non-DC2 work that I'm going to enjoy pouring through.
Last time I was there was around two years ago, when I was in the midst of writing Scarlet Reign, the arc that ran through Green Lantern #44-#50, and I remember vividly walking down the cobbled streets near the market coming up with the final confrontation between Hal and Guy and the Guardian of the Red Lantern Corps, something I was really struggling to finalise at that point in time.
Funnily enough, while I was there this time around I was able to hash out two Green Lantern Corps issues (namely #57 and #58) that have been causing me a headache for a while. I've got covers for those two issues coming from Roy Flinchum, and I'm hoping to nab a cover for #59 from him too as it wraps up the three-parter. When you get to the final scene of #57 you'll understand why Roy is a perfect fit for this trio of issues, but to say anymore would be a spoiler. Always fun to work with Roy.
That all said, you might have noticed that #54 and #55 haven't materialised yet, even though we have a barnstorming cover from Nathan Kilburn. Those issues are coming, but we're just stalling on them for a bit, but we'll hopefully have everything sorted in the coming weeks. In the mean time, I've decided to skip to #56, which has been written since... well, since Scarlet Reign wrapped up, but because a 'more immediate' arc came up, I shelved it. With the temporary stalling in release, I thought it best to just push forward, like we did back when Green Lantern #43 didn't come together and I wanted to keep producing content. The 'missing issues' will come out soon, but in the mean time, we'll have some cool content coming out.
#56 will feature a cover from the returning Alex Vasquez (a funny story accompanying it) and then we'll try to keep up the momentum and keep producing content. I'm also hoping we can announce a spin-off title from the GLC family of books, but that's not exactly finalised right now, but if it comes about will be a great addition.
Anyway, I notice I have some feedback to Justice League #9 I need to address, so I'm off there!
(I'm also operating on two hours sleep in the past twenty four hours, so I apologise for any unintended illiteracy that sneaks in today)
