The Narrows
10:30 P.M.
Bullock lit his cigarette at the pay phone he always got his instructions from. The phone rang right on time as he picked up the receiver it was a voice he didn’t know. “Did you bring the item, Detective?” The voice was one of an exotic female that he didn’t recognize at all.
“Yeah sure, who the hell are you?” He responded as he saw out of the corner of his eye was a hooded figure that had come from the shadows with a sword in the left hand. “What the hell is this?!”
“Where is it, Detective?” It was the voice on the other end of the phone call.
“Somewhere safe and I won’t be letting anyone see it ‘til I get paid.”
“I am going to pay you by spilling your blood tonight, Detective.”
“What the hell is going on?! This isn’t what we agreed on!” The dark figure took a swing for his head but suddenly a loud..
KLANG!
Slammed against the steel reinforced gauntlet by Batwoman. “No one is dying tonight.” She did a backflip and landed a boot into the face of the assailant.
“This is none of your business daughter of Adam!” she pulled back her hood and revealed the face of a beautiful Asian woman. She shed the cloak she wore and pulled both swords in her hands. Batwoman took a position between her and Harvey Bullock. “Get out of here, Detective!” Batwoman screamed over her shoulder to Bullock.
“You’s you don’t gotta tell me twice!” Bullock called back. Bullock tried to take off running but his path was blocked by a couple ninja that drew their swords. Batwoman had blocked a couple swipes from the assailant’s as it sent out a
KLANG!
“Why are you getting involved!?” The Asian woman swung for Batwoman’s head, but Batwoman blocked her parry again. Batwoman saw the predicament they were in; she fired a grapple from her grapple gun and swung away from the attacks. She attached the hook to Bullocks’ belt hoisted him high above the scene. Bullock climbed over the ledge of a building. Batwoman landed back on the ground and she blocked another swipe by the woman....
KLANG!
“You will die for this, Batwoman!” The Asian woman called at Batwoman as she fired another grapple line and she hoisted herself above the fray. She hoisted herself over the edge of the building and she confronted Bullock.
“Start talking Bullock!” She growled at the Detective angrily. “What the
hell is going on?!”
“I don’t owe you nothing, Bat-Bitch!”
“You want them?!” She pointed to the dark alley. “Poor choice of words, Detective. You’re more than free to go back down there and face them! Because last time I checked they want you dead more than me!”
“O.K. O.K. they are the League of Shadows! You were fighting Lady Shiva.”
“League of Shadows?!” She looked at him directly. “They want to destroy Gotham City!”
“I didn’t know that!!” Bullock shook his head.
“What do you know?!”
“Talia al Ghul.. the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul. She’s behind this.” He looked at her. She realized that their position would be quickly compromised. She injected a knockout drug into Bullocks neck and she looked above them as a Bat-shaped vehicle hovered over the rooftop. She saw from the corner of her eye and saw a young woman with long flowing black hair who wasn’t the one she had just battled.
“I don’t know who you are, but you’ve made a fatal error tonight.” The woman called to Batwoman.
“I am the person going to stop you.” Batwoman climbed aboard the bat-vehicle and she disappeared from view and she heaved in a breath as she took off her mask. “We need to get him to Gotham P.D.”
Alfred looked at her. “Are you okay?”
“It’s like looking into the abyss and realizing you’ve got the darkness staring back at you.”
“That’s the darkness you have to use to protect this city.” Alfred nodded. “He’ll be out for while, that’s pretty potent stuff.”
“He’s got a lot of answers to give us, but I need Jim Gordon on my side first.”
“What if you can’t get him on your side?” Alfred looked at her.
“Then I can’t do this.” She assessed the situation honestly. “I won’t do this alone.” Alfred put a hand on her shoulder. “When I showed you the Batcave, I knew you could do this, Kate. You will never be alone.”
“Thank you, Alfred.” She nodded and she looked at him with some burgeoning respect. “We will try.”
“And succeed.” Alfred was keen enough to correct her this time. “We’re approaching, Police Headquarters.” She nodded confidently as she had found some renewed fire. They both rolled Bullock on a moveable cot and the door opened from the craft’s hatch door.
“What do we call this thing?”
“The Bat-wing.” Alfred smiled a bit. “Welcome to Gotham City, Lady Dark Knight…”
She put her mask back on and they lowered Bullock to the GCPD roof where she saw James Gordon waiting on her.
This was going to be good… She hoped.
