I loved the DCAU and I love Final Crisis. This is a beautiful combination of the two. I think, and call me out if I'm wrong, I think this book is a commentary on the fact that Darkseid was beaten in a very lame way. Deus Ex Machina. Fitting title.
I like that you started at the end and what an end it was! This issue did a good job of setting things up while still keeping it exciting. I can only hope that we see more of how Darkseid came back, but at the same time, we already saw his return in Final Crisis, so maybe you have the advantage oskipping that stuff and getting right to the action. I don't know. Maybe I'm just confused.
Overall, great stuff! The cover...... nice, clean, and almost Bruce Timmish in a way. Bravo. I look forward to seeing more of this. Is this going to be a mini-series, or ongoing?

Is this going to be a mini-series, or ongoing? hey thankyou, i am the artist of the cover, and boy was i scared of getting this wrong. i have always loved how crips and clean the art looked in the dcau, and it is not my usual style at all, i have set myself a challenge with this book to try and emmulate timm and those masters of animation to an extent, whilst still keeping my own style. hopefully i will grow into it!!

I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you: I don't like Final Crisis. Too much stuff is going on in one book, events are happening out of order and there are a lot of holes if you don't read the fringe titles (which, ironically, are better than the main series). And so I was a bit disappointed to see it converge with the DCAU that I love so.
That being said, this was a well written issue. The War of Gods, the magical premonition, the death of death and the forming of the Sin. Corps. were all nicely done moments. And the cover looks pretty cool too. Nice work.

For the record: It's a twelve-issue Mini-Series. I'm only borrowing a few ideas from Final Crisis. The genesis of the story in my mind came well before Final Crisis, though, and no matter how Final Crisis ends, it won't have any effect on my story. I'm glad you've liked it so far, guys. See you again in February!

Nice work man, interesting premise and set up, and I think I'll have to come back next month for the next issue! I'm a big fan of Darkseid in any incarnation, so this is a lot of fun, and it appears I'm in the minority as to liking Final Crisis! Buggeration... but... Death... why?! WHY?! Nice cover too, dudes, keep up the good work!
Edit: Though, thinking about it, I thought the dialogue was quite heavy handed at times, forced in some respects. Especially the "Deus Ex Machina" line itself. I kinda groaned inwardly at that.
