I don't understand why Scott Kolins isn't the artist on Justice League, or Superman. It doesn't make sense to me. He's one of those artists that is consistently brilliant, innovative, smart, all this.
Why would DC bring in "big profiles" like Dave Finch and not utilise their existing talent base effectively? Looks like Andy Kubert is sticking around whilst Adam goes back to Marvel (he's doing New Mutants covers right now, isn't he?) but that throws up the question: Why weren't the Kuberts utilised better, too? I know that they have family issues or something that slowed their respective arcs (good God, remember Last Son of Krypton?) but they needed to be whipped into fighting shape so they had the right exposure. Why are Marvel more able to do that than DC with those guys? Hopefully Flashpoint will change that for Andy. And with Joe back doing DC Legacies, hopefully he'll be able to show them what's what and how to do it.
I just think about DC and how they're not using their best artists on big titles. No offence to Mark Bagley but he's not doing his best work on JLA (bad inker, I have to say, but Ramon would say otherwise...), so why isn't Joe Bennett on it? He was vying for a bigger profile a while back-- or Chris Batista? What's he doing? He should have kept moving up and up after JLA: Crisis of Conscience, but instead he ended up on... The Last Days of Animal Man? A filler mini?
Just been thinking about that recently.
Thoughts?
