I'm psyched for this film. The calibre of Kenneth Branagh, one of the premier Shakespearean directors (and actors), and the fact that he's at the helm, the stellar cast (Hopkins as Odin!)... all this means one thing, and one thing alone. That this film is going to do for Thor what Robert Downey and John Favreau did for Iron Man. It would take something stellar, like all the cast coming down with something God-awful for the entire shoot, for this to suck. I'm psyched! Come on! Attachments:

don't you dare jinx it charlie!im really excited for this film too. Odd because i've never really enjoyed thor, The film seems to be more involved in the mythological side of things which well I'm a sucker for any mythology.
I don't think the cast can do wrong. Its like the most perfect fan casting it seems almost too good to be real?

It's gonna be like the new Clash of the Titans... but done correctly! I just hope they go with the version of the original Thor... a arrogant ass who has to learn humility. That'd be classic.

I'm super-psyched for this film, and it looks like it's going to be loyal to the source material like it should do. Comparing it to Jonah Hex, say, I'm hoping that Hollywood understand that just because they've got the money doesn't make them smater. Thor is one of those concepts, same as Jonah Hex, that has existed for decades without the need for irritating producer-induced changes to the character. Not gonna jinx it!

Yeah, but then again, they might be using the JMS version of the character, which wouldn't be bad, but he's also the most recognisable right now. And Marvel meet the movie properties halfway with comic book direction, so I'm thinking it'll be a more balanced version of all the versions we've seen. On a different note, I can't wait for Chris Samnee's Thor series coming out soon. Marvel Adventures, but still a series I'm gonna lap up. I'll post some scans up later!!

Im pretty sure the arogant side is what they are going for. Well at least to begin with before he learns what he is really capable of becoming as a god and as a person:
"The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth. ”
—official press release from Marvel.com
And:
Hopkins also expressed that he finds a personal resonance in the Odin role stating; "He's a stern man. He's a man with purpose. I play the god who banishes his son from the kingdom of Asgard because he screwed up. He's a hot-headed, temperamental young man... probably a chip off of the old block but I decide he's not really ready to rule the future kingdom, so I banish him. I'm harsh and my wife complains and I say, 'That is why I'm king.' He's ruthless, take-it-or-leave-it. Women are much more forgiving; men are not so forgiving. I know in my life, my karma is, 'If you don't like it, tough, move on.' And I move on. I'm a little like Odin myself"
And:
"Thor's powers are godly, yes...But at the end of the day, he's a man... Odin sends him to Earth because he's not perfect. He's brash, arrogant. Even over-confident...he also bleeds. He struggles. Life kicks him where it hurts the most... You want to feel Thor's rage when he rages. You want to see him fight like hell, and take as much as he dishes out -- maybe more. You want to have a visceral reaction to the guy, and what happens to him. You don't want his adventures to be clean and antiseptic. You want to see the dirt, and grime and blood. You want to feel every bone crunching moment of every fight. And when he unleashes the storm, you want to feel like you're seeing the power of a GOD at work." Ashley Miller, co-writer of Thor, about the project
