Hey all. I go by Merai, and I'm a bigtime comic fan. I saw this site a while ago, hesitated... and, well, now I've decided to join, obviously. I'm a writer by nature, I like to think a good enough one, and so I hope to do a bit of writing for the site. Assuming that's okay and everything. I hope to be a productive member of what seems to be a great community. And... well, that's it! Aything else you want to know about ME, just ask, though I have lots of questions for you guys. Where's the best place to get fully up to scratch on continuity up until this point? Is the title queue up to date? Is it really okay to come swooping in new with some big ideas, or is there some kind of "proving ground" that has to be done? And, most importantly- this is something that confuses me, so please point it out to me if I've missed it somewhere- what exactly is the preferred length of an issue? A word limit, page limit or character limit? If anyone could help me on those points... I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks! Incidentally, I was taking a look around and I have yet another question- is there a place where the OLDER issues of DC2 can be read? Because I'm a colossal Fourth World afficiendo and just scanned the finale of the Apokolips Crisis event and... WOW. My GOD, I wish that had happened in the real DC. It's literally my dream crossover, I'm very sorry I missed it. (Only by.... a year ) But I can only seem to find the finale, so if anyone could point me towards a place to read older issues, I'd much appreciate it also.

This should help. It contains most of the issues involved in the IXE. I say most, but some issues are not included. For some weird reason. But nothing that should affect your reading of it! Have fun!

Found it just before you typed that and scanned down it. I look forward to reading it in much greater depth. The idea alone, and the finale which I more or less completely read, still earn my hearty congratulations. Since you've been so kind as to greet me and point me to that, I wonder (without meaning to be impertinent) if you could clarify my other main question, or point me to where it is clarified- that is to say- how is the length of an individual issue determined? This one is really befuddling me, I don't know if there's a character limit, page limit, word limit... Thanks.

Well, as one of the founders of the site, I would have to say that the minimum that I write for an issue is... Eight pages. MSword. Font size... 12. Times New Roman.
But if I'm really into an issue, they can go double that.
I know that some of the other writers on the site have differing opinions on length, so I can only speak for myself.
If you give me a moment, I can find you a link to the "History of the DC2".

I had already read the history and "How to get involved"- I just wasn't sure if anything had changed in the 2 years since they were put up. But I appreciate the intent, and also the length clarification. Really, thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it. So if I could intrude on your patience one last time ( ), I have one specific character in particular to ask about. In general I prefer to read up on my own, but on this one I'd like to ask: The Flash. I can tell, of course, that Barry Allen is still the Flash (which, to my mind, is as it should be). But what I want to know is: 1) Is there anything significent which has happened to Barry Allen in DC2 continuity to change him or is he more or less the same as ever? (Married to Iris, etc) 2) Do Wally West and Bart Allen exist, and if so, in what roles? If you could answer that (I promise, it's the last question!) then I'd feel much better informed before I embark upon a reading frenzy to bring me up to date so I can make a pitch of my own. Again, I really appreciate all the help.

Wally West is Kid Flash, and is a member of the Teen Titans. Bart Allen is a baby. Hello, by the way.

You're in luck. I just had to step down from writing The Flash, so I'm all knowledged up with him!
If you read #21, there's a prologue of sorts that tells you everything you need to know about Barry Allen and the Flash dynasty of the DC2, told in the first person from Barry's perspective.
Wally West is Kid Flash, appearing regularly in Teen Titans, and Bart Allen is the SON of Barry Allen, though still a baby.
All appear in #21.
And I don't mind answering your questions, I'm here to help.

Well, I'm out of questions for now, so thank you again for your gracious help. I intended to read through the recent Flash issues anyway, so now I can be doubly sure. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the site before too long.

Welcome, Merai!
Thanks for glancing at the "Apokolips Imperative" (we're very proud of it); but you'll also want to check out the recent crisis "The Justice League Vs. America" to get a good lay of the land!
Looking forward to working with you!

Welcome to the site.
All you got to know that all you got to do is ask alot of questions and some one will answer you.
Charlie(House of Mystery) was the nut that got me more involved here, so I believe that he is a guy that you can pick his brain for information here.
Dave and Mark are the other guys, since one was the Editor In Chief of the site and the other IS the current Editor In Chief of the site.
You'll soon to know the insanity of the DC2 staff...pretty much starting with me, The 'Chief and ending with me, K.Dragon. ;D.
But remember to submit all proposal to MarkyMark, just to follow the rules and not to make anyone one mad.
BTW, We are the resident schizo on staff in the Art Dept and the Writers Dept and The Editor's Office.
The 'Chief

Ahem, hey guys. I am now back... again. Basically, I got very confused and whatnot by the continuity and all the many things to be read, and that drove me away. But with UDCU merging with DC3, I started paying attention over there and hence... I am back here, due to arcalian's excellent Teen Titans. (He PMed me on Dc3) Anyway, to cut a long story short, I decided to suck it up and read a LOT of comics so, since I always had a desire to write Flash some day, I gorged myself on like the first 9 issues, taking notes as I went along to piece together a comprehensive idea of the DC2 Flash... only to discover practically everything in them was retconned by the end of issue 9. So now I feel like an idiot. (Though to be fair, the storyline was a very, very well written one) That said, point is, I'm back and, though I'll be doing a lot of initial reading, will hopefully be able to actually contribute to the community this time round.

In that case, thanks for the welcomes, well done on some phenomenal Flash stuff, HoM... As I say, my only complaint is that I hate stories opening with alternate reality stories before we have a chance to get to know the *real* reality of the title.
