Yep, that's right. This month's Challenge is to draw a DC2 character in the art style of Rob Liefeld!
Mr. Liefeld has been a subject of much internet interest and discussion over the years, some consider him an inspiration while others.... don't. But whether you regard this controversial creator to be famous or infamous, his impact on the field of comics has been undeniable. And as it is always to better understand the movers and shakers of the industry, and sometimes to walk a mile in their shoes, this is our chance to pay tribute (or whatever word you'd like to use) to this comic book pro.
So, get out your Image/Awesome/Extreme/Arcade Comics (or just do an image search at Google) and bone up on the subtleties and nuances of Rob's style and show us what you've got! There will be a poll at the end of this one, but not for any particular "prize", only the bragging rights of having produced the most Liefeld-esque work of art!
So get those pencils ready and go to it!

So, if the the goal is to be Lieffeld-esque work I will post mine about two months after the poll closes.

Aw, I won't let you take all the credit, Doc. ;D Here's the image from another thread that Doc did, so I'm posting it as an example on what we're going for here: Art, Rob certainly has done his share of lightboxing. But in the same vein as Lichenstein, Warhol, Greg Land, and the other Photoshop artists proliferating in our comics lately, Rob's work fits right in. Given the cut-and-paste nature of some of his works and some of the other, uh, abstractions that are present he really is a true post-modernist in his own right. Whatever his methodology, he is an artist of much controversy and curiousness. So why not find the inner Liefeld in you and, being true to form, lightbox one of his pics in the DC2 style! ;D

And I thought his TT work was bad...y'know Gail Simone said her teenage son (avid anime fan) never seemed interested in art. Until one day she had Rob's work spread out and he asked "Who's that?" Poor misguided youth (and I love anime!). This might be fun. I just got a lightbox from Michael's.

My submission. Sorry about it being Aquaman B- I just read the last issue... Wow... Will I be scoffed, scorned & ridiculed if I admit that this is really DAMN good. You out-Liefielded Liefield.... How does one do that? I say this wins... then you need to use it as a cover!

BOTH of roys liefelds were good. he didnt go liefeld overdrive and made it look pretty good. in moderation. but look at huntress, she has a stomach, that is no liefeld.

A true Liefeld should be all gritted teeth and look constipated. ;D I read a tpb of the president lex storyline and there is an issue with a collection of stories 2-3 pages each of Supes talking to a different hero in each one. Each one drawn by a different artist including Joe Mad, Ed Mcguinness and some others. When you see Lieffelds stuff so close to the others you see crappiness in a new light. It does give you hope though cause if he can get a gig in comics theres hope for everyone!

You forget everything you ever learned about drawing.... Ah! The wise words of Yoda... "You must unlearn what you have learned... then, and only then, a Liefield will you be..." Ok, I might have paraphrased a bit...

I have to agree, Scott. That's a super nice Aquaman pic and I'd love to use it if Roy would be willing to color it!
Plus, Huntress.... thong!

I'll post mine tonight... ended up being Hal (of course), but once I was done I thought to myself: "this would make a good DC2 Lord Marvolo"
Damn it! Could it be that we're finding inspiration in our Liefieldness?
