first off, the begining was FANTASTIC! way to retcon. well, actually its not but i like it.
second, it was good, you know I have told you that but i will say it again. One thing i do want to say is that I am sorry, the concept of the "interior" art was supposed to be a lot bigger. we had over 4-5 pictures from me, but due to laziness and me forgetting this post date, i did not get to finish them. I will say this though, that cover is FAAANTAAASTIC! can't wait to see what is gonna go down with that damn green lantern.
<cough>readpowersinc<cough> damn cold.

I too must apologize, I too was to contribute to the interior art, but due to time constraints and illness, didn't get it in. I promise I'll do better next time. This issue was awesome, totally lived up to it's "Action" title. I like Clark' and Lois's relationship. And it seems like there's some big doings going on in the DC2! "Liefield satellite, the old one that’s known for leaking junk?" ---loved it. I laughed out loud.

a free for all snatch fest
when i read this phrase, i wasn't thinking about a bank robbery....
haha.
i liked the cover, sorta had a miller style to it, actually.
the story itself i didn't care for. how many times do you have to repeat that clark kent needs to be late? the whole Barrage incident was strange...didn't care at all about the villain. it just came out of nowhere and then ended. the dialogue, esp @ the Daily Planet and during the Clark & Lois date, was terrible, quite frankly. and how the hell does clark know chloe? i know you guys have got your own little continuity going on here, but i havent read every story to know if thats been discussed, so i was mighty confused. are we on smallville continuity now? the scene on the bus was pretty painful too. whole thing read like a giant cliche and i had to force myself to finish it.
nice try.

Hmm. Thanks for taking the time to share your opinon, but here's me... Coming atcha KEEEAAAYYEEE!
Dave, you set the bar too high! I see it's hard to follow up a fantastic writer, but I gave it my best shot.
I liked the story.
The late bit... Twice it was used. The second time it just felt right to slip it in after a reread. It was a good little link in with the first section written by my amigo Ramon.
The book is called Action Comics, and after my first write out, I realised that with all my little "terrible" chats there wasn't much of the A word. So we slipped in there, and I thought that worked, as did some other people... Who liked the story... But y'know, each to his own.
Plug time! Check out Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes in the specials section and monthly Tales of the Green Lantern Corps for the low down on Chloe Sullivan.
If you didn't like the first chapter, check out the next. Then the next. And then the next... In fact, read the entire arc. For no other reason than to make me feel better. It'll be over in two months anyway. No worries.
Thanks again for taking the time to read it.

Well I honestly thought it was a great story! Barrage was cool and I honestly thought it really worked. Even if I wasn't sure how Clark knew Chloe my first instinct would be to keep reading the issue's until it is reveiled to me. That's what it's all about...right? ...and I still think Joey kicks butt! peace

Great story, I love the beginning as well with us showing that in the end he has to try harder to be Clark Kent than being Superman. the fact that he needs to make sure no one finds out his secret.
In the end great stuff....

that WAS the intention alra, but when a "writer" tells the meaning, it defeats the purpose, albeit, that was damn obvious.

Even if I wasn't sure how Clark knew Chloe my first instinct would be to keep reading the issue's until it is reveiled to me. That's what it's all about...right? ...and I still think Joey kicks butt! peace I too enjoyed this! It was easy to follow & fun. I think the criticisms above were way too harsh and unnecessary, but to each his own. The Joey part was a creative way to 'retcon' out Adventures #3, which I'm sure everyone knows how I personally feel about that one. The Liefield Satellite comment made me laugh out loud as well. Chuck & Ramon, you guys did good! Oh, but Appa Ali Apsa isn't a female Guardian... He's actually the Guardian from the Hard Travelling Heroes arc in GL/GA from the 60's. He was also the 'mad Guardian' from the first arc of the last GL series. You know, the one that turned OA into the Mosaic world Now onto the shameless plugging: Chloe, as Chuck said before, made her debut in the Superboy & the Legion of Super-Heroes! Special. I encourage you to read it... it is quite good! Though if you don't, you can read the Chloe Sullivan who's who file in the DC2 Illustrated special. It gives a little more insight & fills in the gaps between Superboy & the LSH & Green Lantern #3 where she reappears. Chloe & her boss King Faraday will be all over the DC2 Universe soon. Keep your eyes peeled! Great work both of you!

I enjoyed Bibbo. Also I wasn't confuswed by the inclusion of Chloe it is pretty obvious that she has some kind of past with Lois and Clark even if it's not Smallville continuity. I like the Superman stories thast are more scifi based he is an alien after all. Good work. The cover looks good too.

Finally made it up the threads to this issue. I was a good read. You balanced Clark moments, Superman action, Clark/Lois, supporting characters, and a couple of plotlines well. I don't totally catch all the Oa GL stuff, but of all DC characters GL is pretty low on my list. Tying Chloe in is a nice touch, and the story made me want to read the next issue. I think that is the real telling point of any comic, do you want to find out what is going to happen. I do.
Nice cover, Supes does look a little stiff though.

A solid first issue.... What I like, is that DESPITE the somewhat repetetive nature of Clark's social awkwardness and need to show up late... you establish these character points in your DC2 continuity.
If what is being created here is to be a consistent re-imagining of familiar heroes and settings then it is necessary to re-introduce these elements . Some readers who have seen similar scenes over and over through years of comic buying and TV/movies need to understand that. Their own familiarity with these moments is what creates the impression of unnecessary repetition. For example, we have all scene or read the death scene of Bat-Man's parents ad nauseum over the years.. but that doesn't mean you can do the character justice if you decide to skip referencing it!!!!!
The inclusion of Chloe into this continuity should be an effective bridge towards fans of Smallville.

oh i should probably mention to you that action takes place after an issue of AoS #3. i guess it never occured to us that people may read action 1 thinking it was the first of the superman books. sorry if things get confusing. hope you enjoy

The inclusion of Chloe into this continuity should be an effective bridge towards fans of Smallville. Chloe's first DC2 appearance was in the Superboy & the Legion of Super-Heroes! story. She then appears next in Tales of the Green Lantern Corps #3 and is featured prominently in a number of issues there. She will be all over the DC2U as events unfold leading up to the IXXE (Issue 20 event). For more on her and a bit on King Faraday's backgrounds here at the DC2, check out our first DC2 illustrated issue! We have a character appearance database that lists all the appearances for each character in chronological order. The entry for Superman indicates that you should start with New Adventures of Superman #1 to #3, then Action Comics #1, and then alternate between New Adventures and Action Comics. Apologies for the confusion and hope that helps.

Hey Amber, I'm Charlie, and back in the day I wrote this book!
Superman was a character I always struggled with, but through my struggles on this title I found my footing in other areas, and also a love of different characters such as The Guardian.
I heartily recommend any other Action Comics run but my own, haha!
Our current titles include Cam's early days approach in Batman that only started last month, so it's a great jumping on point. Back in the day we worked on some amazing Bat-events and it holds up as some of the stuff I'm proudest of. When I'm not at work I'll link you to the "Collected Editions" of all those runs. Great stuff.
Batman also plays a major role in the Justice League ongoing, that I'm helming. I love the character!
Hope to see you around the site!
