Pretty good stuff overall, but I thought the storyline was a little simple. :/
The parts with Corben were written fairly well, but other than that I found the fight scenes to be a little odd. And the reveal of Superman basically making a plastic gun? I thought that was a little anti-climatic, especially with Superboy then wrapping the fight up with his tactile telekinesis.
I thought the stuff with Chris Kent and the Science Police was interesting and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of that! I thought this was an awesome addition to the Superman DC2 mythos. I'm curious to see more of this guy...
The ending with Lois and Clark was nice and I like that you guys are focusing on that relationship a little more in this new run.
Overall, I thought this was a pretty good issue with a few defects, but I definitely enjoyed myself. A Super-Family team-up needs to happen more often!
Nice job!

Pretty good stuff overall, but I thought the storyline was a little simple. :/ Sorry you didn't approve. Superman has always been a character it's taken a while (or not at all, eheh) to get into for me, writing-wise, and I'm sorry that this didn't live up to expectations. I've been wanting for so many months now to spread the threads from Secret Society of Super villains into others titles, and this was too brilliant an opportunity to pass up! And to bring you-know-who(s) back into the title? Come on The parts with Corben were written fairly well, but other than that I found the fight scenes to be a little odd. Tell me why? And I'll take the "fairly well" as a compliment, well and truly! And the reveal of Superman basically making a plastic gun? I thought that was a little anti-climatic, especially with Superboy then wrapping the fight up with his tactile telekinesis. I've wanted to write a "Superman Family" story for some time now, and Supergirl is a character I intend to keep coming back to as the title progresses, and it only made sense for them to be involved in some way or another. With the Annuals we showed a part of Superman that was intelligent and inventive, and with another Kryptonite thtreat involved, why wouldn't he use his wits to bring him down? If I was allergic to some dude's heart, I'd want to keep my distance, or insulate myself against it. I thought the stuff with Chris Kent and the Science Police was interesting and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of that! I thought this was an awesome addition to the Superman DC2 mythos. I'm curious to see more of this guy... Yeah, the Special Crimes Unit is one of those threads I'm going to continue investigating with this title,. and Chris Kent is a character you're going to see as the months move forward, until his... "origin"... issue. The ending with Lois and Clark was nice and I like that you guys are focusing on that relationship a little more in this new run. You'll be seeing a lot of those guys throughout both the series, glad you like it Overall, I thought this was a pretty good issue with a few defects, but I definitely enjoyed myself. A Super-Family team-up needs to happen more often! Exactly-- next issue? Supergirl.

I just have to say at first, what an awesome cover by Nathan Kilburn...! I don't know how one can look at that cover and not want to read the issue!
I really enjoyed this story. Charlie really gets the badass villain thing, making Metallo the most compelling character in this issue--- no wonder his Secret Society of Super Villains is so well-received (I really need to catch up with that title)! I especially liked the scene at the end, and what Metallo tells the S.T.A.R. scientists. Chilling!
Nice chemistry between Lois and Clark (though I've noticed you always have them bonding over food--- is there some sort of theme here?), but the big relationship note in this issue is the return of Kru-El! Superman's bastard brother...! This is huge. What exactly is he up to? Working with the SCU under that particular alias? (And I just have to have it on the record that I absolutely hate that he's using a name that should be a tribute to a real-life hero, and it's used over editorial objections.)
The fight with Metallo was fun, and a good opportunity to see the Superman Family cast in action together... for the first time? Also, intriguing ending with the return of Luthor. Some long term plans brewing here, and that can't be good for our Man of Steel!
I'm very excited with the threads Charlie is weaving, and would rate his return to this title a triumphant return for sure. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I just have to say at first, what an awesome cover by Nathan Kilburn...! I don't know how one can look at that cover and not want to read the issue! I know, right? Nathan has really been instrumental in the new phase of Superman on the DC2, and I can't wait to see what Roy delivers for Adventure Comics #11 and, having seen Boris' DC2 Comics Presents... Special #1 cover, the awesomeness has continued. Without Nathan, it could have been a tad pitchy, a bit bumpy, but not only was his interlocking cover so bloody fantastic, but he continued that streak over onto this book! Wonderful. I hope to see more from him in the future. I really enjoyed this story. Charlie really gets the badass villain thing, making Metallo the most compelling character in this issue--- no wonder his Secret Society of Super Villains is so well-received (I really need to catch up with that title)! I especially liked the scene at the end, and what Metallo tells the S.T.A.R. scientists. Chilling! I love writing villains, and like I said before, I think it's time to see the Society spread itself across the DC2 and see what happens. You'll be seeing it here, and eventually... Green Lantern (when the opportunity presents itself!), which is going to rock. Metallo especially is a character I've always had a soft spot for, and seeing Brian Austin Green bring him to life in Smallville was fantastic, and inspired me to use him in the title that he should rightly play a role in. And like you've seen, this is just the beginning-- he won't be leaving any time soon! Nice chemistry between Lois and Clark (though I've noticed you always have them bonding over food--- is there some sort of theme here?)... Blatantly I'm a hack writer ...but the big relationship note in this issue is the return of Kru-El! Superman's bastard brother...! This is huge. What exactly is he up to? Working with the SCU under that particular alias? Yes, massive plans in mind, though after talking to another writer on site, they're going to be much more intimate than they were planned to be originally. This is a concept I want to work so much, but not at the expense of the title itself. (And I just have to have it on the record that I absolutely hate that he's using a name that should be a tribute to a real-life hero, and it's used over editorial objections.) It's kinda the point! But I appreciate your concerns and hope to buck them by the time of #51-- the issue which reveals the truth behind Kru-El's return, featuring a lot of familiar faces from across Roy and my own Action Comics runs. The fight with Metallo was fun, and a good opportunity to see the Superman Family cast in action together... for the first time? Perhaps-- I don't think they've been side-by-side in one issue, in one fight, so it was good to figure out a threat that would require all their power combined. Loved using Superboy, and Supergirl is a character that will, on some level, share equal billing with Superman in this title. Lots of plans. Need to really lay out her DC2 origin once and for all so everyone knows where she stands, and where she comes from. This isn't any Kara you've read before, Roy made sure of that Also, intriguing ending with the return of Luthor. Some long term plans brewing here, and that can't be good for our Man of Steel! For the "before" on Lex, check out Secret Society of Super Villains #9, which leads into this chronologically. Lex Luthor deserves to be the biggest of all players in the Superman mythos, and he'll be running around in the background (along with a half dozen other threads across all the titles) until... well, it's going to get cosmic. I'm very excited with the threads Charlie is weaving, and would rate his return to this title a triumphant return for sure. Looking forward to seeing what happens next! Thanks, Dave! I intend to get some Action Comics written before I get into my work overload that's starting tomorrow (you just know I'm going to be murdered at the cinema on a Valentine's Day ;D), so it should be in your hands soon enough! Thanks for reading, my friend!

The next installment of Superman's new era features a villain I enjoy a lot: Metallo. Just the simple "robot with kryptonite heart" and such a wonderfully classic Silver Age name, I love Metallo. So it's good to see him throw down here with Superman. The fight scenes were okay, though I felt the gun was...wrong, I guess. The idea was good, the coating with lead, but shooting it from a gun...didn't seem Superman to me. Good to see the super-kids around, and I did like Superman trying to control Metallo's cursing around them. The subplot with Chris looks like a good solid, slow-burner, though I do wonder if Mon-El will ever have to pop out of the Phantom Zone and lay a smackdown on Kru-El's ass, and show what having a brother is all about. LOL But good stuff. Creepy bit with the scientists, as Dave pointed out. I liked that a lot, some very simple, effective dialog to convey a great imagery about Metallo's "soul". Keep it coming, Charlie, and see you next month (okay, probably sooner as you write half the DC2's list right now ). Take care Don

The next installment of Superman's new era features a villain I enjoy a lot: Metallo. Just the simple "robot with kryptonite heart" and such a wonderfully classic Silver Age name, I love Metallo. So it's good to see him throw down here with Superman. I'm a big Metallo fan, and I know, in my head, how I want to use him, but I've not fully realised it with the books I've used him in yet-- I was proud of his SSoSV centric issue, and I want him to be a presence like Michael Myers in Action Comics... we'll get there, hopefully, soon The fight scenes were okay, though I felt the gun was...wrong, I guess. The idea was good, the coating with lead, but shooting it from a gun...didn't seem Superman to me. Yeah, completely. I was going to try and really just say "goo-gun", but didn't bother. I know it's Superman, and whilst I don't see the problem with him using as a gun as much as I see one with Batman, it does seem to irk me when a hero uses a gun and they aren't a dangerous vigilante, like... Vigilante. Good to see the super-kids around, and I did like Superman trying to control Metallo's cursing around them. Heh, I was pleased with that bit The subplot with Chris looks like a good solid, slow-burner, though I do wonder if Mon-El will ever have to pop out of the Phantom Zone and lay a smackdown on Kru-El's ass, and show what having a brother is all about. LOL But good stuff. Oo... Creepy bit with the scientists, as Dave pointed out. I liked that a lot, some very simple, effective dialog to convey a great imagery about Metallo's "soul". Yeah, again, quite happy with that bit. Lots of stuff I liked in this issue, lots of stuff I think I failed at. Live and learn. Keep it coming, Charlie, and see you next month (okay, probably sooner as you write half the DC2's list right now ). Someone's gotta...
