You have a great flare with dialogue Mr. HoM. It's always enjoyable to read your stuff and this was as fun as the others. I love the dialogue between Alfred and Bats. Really good stuff. Excellent cover as well. Of course I've yet to see a cover I haven't liked on this site.

I too enjoyed this Chuck! Although it read like one section of the story was out of sequence... The sequence with Matches Malone read like it should have been after the "Luthor! What have you done?" sequence.
There were a few other spots where I got a bit lost, but found myself quickly. A very different & unique take on Metallo though. It was a fun ride... Batman was much more trusting in his younger years, wasn't he? I felt like I was reading a World's Finest issue from the 60's! I also enjoy it when you write into Bat's mind from his point of view... I would like it though, if he were the only character in the book that read that way.
Just an idea!

Your ideas are good -- like the unique take on Metallo -- but you need to work on dialogue more, I think. Some of it just doesn't suit the characters. And the multipile 1st-person views is distracting -- stick with it being Batman-only.

The multiple first person speaker was an experiment. (A failure of one because no one got it!) The title will resume normal style next month, with a story that begins this years ORIGIN OF BATMAN! A common thread through the book that unites all the arcs to tell the tale of how he adopted the moniker of The Bat. Some reasons you know, some you don't, and I hope we have a fun ride together.
All I can say is, I hope my books impress you as we proceed through the run, and that once I'm done... I hope you get it. I hope you understand all the time and effort I've put into this book to make it something special and different from the normal Batman titles that are out on the market today. There are common elements, such as the lead character dressing up as a flying rodent, but this is a personal book, with plots that lead up to the big two five, with a little arc that we in the Editors Office like to call...
**SPOILER WARNING**
...Knightfall...

Not bad work. I like to see where this book is going. There were some places I found myself a bit lost, because you jump from scene to scene very quickly, but Icaught up quick. Odd choice to start a book with a crossover, but it worked, and was a pretty good written, well thought out story. I actually expected it to go longer, but you were able to wrap it up enough while leaving room for plot ties into future arcs. Overall, good job!

Another change of plan, as the arcs entitled GENESIS OF THE BAT, TAKEOVERS and another two which I'll keep to myself are now being postponed for something big. So the previously solicited information is false, and in the next issue we meet Edward Nigma... Respected business man? Or something else entirely? Be here!

I'm sorry to say but I didn't like this story. It was a superman sotry when it was supposed to be a batman story. You should have saved this for superman

Bigboi, we appreciate your honest feedback. Honestly, I have to agree with you that I would have liked to see more Batman here, with Superman relegated to a cameo. While he spins a fascinating yarn, this writer's particular style can be hard to follow (multiple POVs, changes in tense and script format), but is usually worth the effort.

Ahahahahahahahaha! The New Year promises to be a different and more fun year. Batman confronts three of his biggest Rogues in his veritable history. Get ready for The Riddler! The Joker... And... Azrael?

I loved Superman's appearance...although I would have liked to see a little more Batman. I loved the new Metallo, and thought that, overall, it was a great issue!

I realise that there wasn't enough Batman in the story, but I think that it was a solid effort and however strange or convoluted the story, it was effective enough to keep y'all hooked... Am I right?

I think so. And I loved Superman's appearance; I didn't mind him being in the spotlight at all, I was just expecting more Bats.

Me too... Me too... But don't worry, this next arc is Batman full... So pick it up, unless you don't enjoy seeing Jim Gordon, Sam Merkel and Sarah Essen and Harvey Bullock investigating a series of attacks mentioned in issue zero!

Not too bad Charlie! I did enjoy this. Ramon, great cover but was Supes suppose to be scary looking? Great job on the big two! I think its very easy to write the grim and gritty bats that we've had in the DCU for the last 20 years. It is refreshing to see a younger less bitter Bruce Wayne and a fun, adventurous Batman in these stories. Also seeing a younger Clark Kent give up his interview with Bruce Wayne so Lois would have it 'first'? What a 'Super' kinda man he is! Look forward to seeing what happens next!

Minutes later, Clark Kent is at the door, fiddling with his tie, and smiling like a giddy schoolgirl.
the more i think about it, the more i want them together as a couple.
i've only just begun reading these dc2 stories, so please tell me: just how interrelated are they? someone referred to this as a "crossover"; is that true?
the plotting of these initial "issues" is quite odd: in the zero issue you essentially introduced two stories, one in the past, one in the "present," (separated by six years, correct?) then continue the flashback, completely ignoring the riddler story until #3. how does your "Six Years Later" plan operate?
in regard to this story in particular, what was the rationale behind the change in metallo? i'm curious as to what your thought process was in decided to tweak the character.

I like Metallo as a character, but always saw him as two beings entirely. A super pwered, Kryptonite fueled METAL and an aggresive bran in a jar if you will. Introducing Metallo as a metal first still allows for future stories, but it gives a new twist to the character, who, frankly, has been done to death. "Oh wow, he can absorb metal! He can kill Superman with a turn of his body" but come on, he's never really been a threat... Sure he can kill Superman, but you'd actually expect him to once in a while... I don't know... I wanna stop explaining my creative choices!

I liked the plot itself but I think you made Bats too lighthearted. This isn't Adam West, let's get Gritty. Not dark and disturbing but, you know, tough and like... gritty.
I'm not very eloquent with words.
.......
Overall nice. ;D
BTW I'm am eloquent but having an off day. But I am told I don't know when to shut up.

Hey look, I'm in a story! Yeah, I know. But better late than never right? So I'm an ex-Luthor lackey, eh? Oh well, but who else has bragging rights as to being in a story AND on a DC2 cover? That's right.
Nice work, Charlie. Interesting read and lots of fresh ideas. It was a little confusing at the end but wasn't a big deal. I really liked Alfred showing up as Matches. Fun stuff, sir!

Great conclusion - you may just have made this Metallo one of my top characters on dc2! Brilliant! I use Metallo again in Secret Society of Super Villains, and I do fully intend to pick up on threads from this story sometime soon. He's a brilliant character to write, and I enjoy getting into John Corben's head quite a lot.
