The heart of this story revolved around the tragic circumstance that makes Clayface a "villain" This played out really well. I think its easy to make a bad guy bad but making you care about them is another thing. You pulled if off nicely. This was a solid and tightly written one shot! Great job!
Another classic RV cover! Clayface is larger then life and so is your talent Ramon!

Good, solid story, giving us the origin of Clayface and portraying him as a tragic figure. I liked the fact it was mostly told from the point of view of the friend who later turns out to be the real villain of the piece. I also happen to be a fan of one-shots so this is something I can easily get into. Good read.

Thank you, Romans Empire, batarang, and Shoe for your kind words. I'm glad you all liked the story!
And Romans Empire, you're right, Ramon did an excellent job on the cover! Because of me, he had a very short time to do it in, and he still pulled off an amazing cover.

Very entertaining. Clayface is one of my favorite Batman villains and you did him well. Truly enjoyed this. Hope to see more of your stuff, soon.

Fun stuff. Clayface is a cool villain and he is set up in a familiar way (just like "Batman: TAS") and we see his cliche psychology worked well. I like it.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't finish reading this. While your writing style is good, your plotline is nearly identical to his origin in the Batman cartoon -- I saw every move, every scene, in my head before I read it. Once we got to finding Matt in the car, I decided to quit. Perhaps you got really innovative afterward, and if you did, go ahead and put me in my place. I do realize that, due to the nature of fanfic, there is a small amount of rehash involved in some of the stories, but this thing, up to the point where I stopped, almost reads like an episode summary.
I welcome you to correct me on this -- if you make a good enough argument, I'll go back and finish it, I promise.

Sums up what I felt about the story, but I stayed on to the end for the slightly 'surprising' conclusion.

I welcome you to correct me on this -- if you make a good enough argument, I'll go back and finish it, I promise. I'll admit that I used the BTAS origin, mainly because I think it's the best done Clayface origin. I even gave Germs the last name "Wolfman" because Marv Wolfman wrote the two parter. I knew the story was just going to be a "filler" between storylines, and that's why I chose to do an origin story. In all fairness, I did center a lot of it around Teddy, Matt's friend, and I made him a worker at Dagget Industries, instead of just a friend on the sidelines. I'm sorry you didn't like what you read. I promise that its not an exact duplicate, and I meant no plagirism of Marv Wolfman's ideas. The ending does have a "surprise" like House of Mystery said, and it goes a further than the episode does. It also concludes the scene started at the beginning. If it helps, Clayface even gets hit by the Batmobile. Anyways, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Well, I went back and finished it, as promised. I still think you could have done better, but you're right, you didn't copy it fully. I'm sorry if you thought I was implying plagiarism -- since the Clayface many know is the cartoon one, it's the best place to start, I just thought you could have done more with it than you did. Maybe less summarizing and glossing over scenes. Despite this, I do look forward to seeing your name on other projects -- don't let me discourage you.

I'm glad to read that you finished it, Susan. Next time I write a DC2 story (which I don't know when that will be), I promise that it will be 100% new ideas from me that are not based on any other story. Thank you for your input.

I really liked this retelling of the BTAS episode. While the first half seemed like I was reading the episode, the end was really great.

I liked this one-shot origin - brought back fond memories of Clayface and TAS. It did seem a bit rushed and almost like a detailed synopsis at times, but for a one shot I really enjoyed it! After Clayface was hit by the Batmobile, I was half expecting it to turn round an bake him with its flaming exhaust, lol! Still, good job...
