Didn't see the credits for the writer and cover artist but I'll start off by saying I enjoyed the cover.
It was good to see one of Batman's major villains, though I'll miss Mr. Freeze (no super-villain can really be gone for good, can they?). Good recap of his origin and Dr. Phosphorus', even though Batman on the whole was reduced to watching from the sidelines. Sometimes these things happen, but I felt like maybe only one of the villains should have gotten the spotlight so the story wouldn't have the tone of one of the older Batman movies of a decade ago. I guess the fire vs. ice conflict needed to be underlined and Mr. Freeze was revealed to be a sort of hero in the end.
I hope more of the "big gun" bat-villains keep appearing. So far Penguin, Two-Face, Catwoman and Scarecrow haven't shown up in the DC2. And I'd like to see a Batman/Joker showdown somewhere down the line, even though I know the Joker is currently giving the New Outsiders a hard time.
One question: I may be mistaken, but I thought this title covered Batman's early years. How far into his career is Batman at this point, and has he already met most of his main foes?

Next issue is entitled CROOKED SMILES. Guess why. Does the Batman © visits the Evil Orthodentist ©? Seriously though, another exemplory issue Charlie. Having dueling opposites creates good reading, and this issue was a great example of that. Like Batarang said, too bad about Mr Freeze. The idea of his death for the life of his love is perfect. Anyway, you can't keep a good villain down. Knowing Mr. HoM, he has a plan to bring Freeze back. He always has a plan.

I too loved the cover! Very cool indeed!
The story itself left me a little cold. See? See what I did there?
Oh never mind!
I heard about this story awhile back and I have to say that the end result was interesting. Batman did seem to play a secondary role in this issue. I hope he is at the for-front next issue when he faces the clown prince of crime.

This was a really well thought out issue. The only thing I think was a little weak was the reason for Mr. Freeze's anger towards Phosphorous. But the ending was amazing! The ending was exactly the type that I was hoping to get out of this story! It was what made me vote for "I REALLY ENJOYED THIS!"
And congratulatious! You introduced me to a new Bat-villain! I have never heard of Phosphorous before. I really thank you for putting his origin in there.
All in all, great issue.

Dr Phosphorous was introduced in the iconic and masterful Englehart/Rogers run of Batman, but instead of Rogers art, Phosphorous' first issue was drawn by the genius that is Walt Simonson! Pick all that up in Strange Apparations (one of the first Batman TPB's I ever read, and one that showed me how awesome the character is )

I just might have to pick that up. Thanks for the recommendation!

I LOVED this issue! Freeze is one of my all-time top villains, and it was great to read a well written, cleverly thought-out story that not only heavily featured him, but showed a far more human - ultimately heroic - side to this great character.
My hat's off to you, sir

I LOVED this issue! Freeze is one of my all-time top villains, and it was great to read a well written, cleverly thought-out story that not only heavily featured him, but showed a far more human - ultimately heroic - side to this great character. My hat's off to you, sir This was one of my favourite issues to write, even though, as with the issues before it, I'm not proud of the actual writing. That'll happen around #11-12, ha, for all the reasons I'm known on the site for. Mr Freeze has always been one of my favourite villains too, mainly because of B:TAS and the way Timm and co. developed him into this wonderfully tragic figure. So I wanted to reflect that here, and I picked up on some threads about twenty issues down the line in a Detective Comics run. Always had a major over-arching plan with the character, but I wasn't on the title forever, so other writers did cool things with him, and I never finished. No worries though
