Well, apart from the fact that I didn't actually get the terrible pun, I thought it was a great opener. Looking forward to the rest of the crossover.

I really liked this issue.
The opening was strong and was one of the best pieces of writing I've seen from the author.
Also the Bruce Wayne Vicki Vale stuff could have been REALLY cheesey if handled poorly, but turned out to be really true to life, particular to anyone who has been in that first part of a relationship where everything is cute.
Bravo.

The opening sequence with Vicki Vale surprised me, but in a pleasant way. Glad to see that Bruce has that opportunity at the DC2 (I'd rather it was Selina, but you take what you can get). I was interested to see (both here in and in Suicide Squad) how far you can push things without a "mature content" password.
Interesting contrast between Black Mask talking to his assistant, and talking to Deathstroke. From overwhelming overlord to cowering newbie villain. Good stuff.
Edit: Forgot to say, the drugged up thugs and the "He's new in town" line were nice touches.

The fan is about to be covered in some mean faeces in two weeks time, as the story continues in Detective Comics #15[/b], and I thought it was time the Vicki/Bruce relationship was explored. I think I was treading water for a while there with that point, but this is a sign that what they've got together isn't going anywhere fast, and you'll want to stick around for the results. I mean, Vicki is a photojournalist, she stalks these celebrities, what will her newspaper make of her relationship? Bruce is a playboy, what happens when a former conquest comes forward? All things that'll be explored. And Adam! What an awesome cover!

A great beginning to the four parter! I, too, enjoyed the stuff with Vicki. I think it's important to see Bruce a little happy once in a while. Great job, Charlie!

SPOILERS!
Wow! I can see how the stuff really is about to hit the fan...! Gordon at death's door! Black Mask rising! Deathstroke gunning for them all!
Everything was handled very well in this issue (except, maybe, Bruce's conversation with Vicki's sister. Maybe it's just me, but that seemed a bit out of character--- but then, Bruce just got laid, so maybe he's feeling more relaxed than usual).
I cringed a little bit at the impending gala of guest-stars, but then I suppose it only makes sense, given the circumstances (but surely Batman can handle major crises without his former sidekick always showing up...?).
Adam turned in a magnificent cover. I never cease to be amazed at what our AD is capable of--- these covers are worthy to grace an actual commercial product!
Well done, fellas! Looking forward to the rest of the crossover!

I agree, but when Jim Gordon is involved, Batgirl is going to be there, and where Babs is... Well. Dick ain't far off either. They're a family, and this is something we see later on in the crossover. And I was constantly picking at that conversation between Vicki's sister and Bruce. I just couldn't make it seem right.
And yes. Deathstroke is going to kick ASS!

This is probably one of the few points of the Batman mythos that I kind of disagree with you on, Dave. Although I don't think they are a family in any real sense of the word. I do think they are loyal to each other, and to those who have aided in their cause, and Jim Gordon has always been their biggest supporter, so I do see a logic in both Dick and Babs coming back to town for this. Babs especially, but Dick as well. And even Frank Miller has family... even if they won't admit it. ;D Once again, Charlie. terrific job on this issue!

Question; for those who think Batman and crew are not a family, then what should they be? Seriously, I'm not trying to argue. I just don't know how else one would define that dynamic, but clearly those of the not-family viewpoint do. So, how do you define it?

We're off to a roaring start, folks, and we've still got 3 parts to go! Nice to see Bruce get some. And the "Sorry, Bats, he's new" was a great line.

Nice format, GREAT story. loved Bruce'd reaction to Gordon getting shot.
Nitpick: Established in NW #9... There ARE 15 bedrooms in Wayne Manor.

Am I the only one who got the awesome Spinal Tap ref? Up to 11, lol...!
A great issue, an what looks like a great start to an amazing quadrilogy! It'll be the first cross-title story I'll read on here - I'll save IXE for another time - and I know its gonna be a hell of a ride!
