Another awesome issue, Charlie! Jason Todd's story has been incredibly intriguing since he became the Dark Knight and he's quickly becoming one of my favorite characters on DC2. He's the perfect reflection of what he should have been in DCU and not some guy who runs around shooting kids and starving criminals to death(TONY DANIEL I'M LOOKING AT YOU!).
Hush is still pretty new to DC2 but man is he creepy. Loving it! The Man-Bat fight was cool but man was it overshadowed by that ending. Holy cliffhanger Batman!
Love the cover too. Man-Bat looks wicked!

Sorry Charlie, I meant to post this the day the issue came out. But a short nap turned into a ten hour one and then work became a mess, so anyway....
I haven't been the biggest fan of DC2 Jason Todd (being that the DCU version is my fav character). A lot of the changes done to him really didn't resonate well with me and i still cringe when they are brought up.
But you're pulling me to the other side with the great stories you're telling with him. I love the swearing and the fact he's trying to redeem himself... his own way. He seems like a perfect fit to protect the narrows. Just brilliant all around. And I hope Dick makes it out of his situation okay... and then the Black Mask!
luckly we don't have to wait to long for the next installment and I will be there.
Brilliant story sir!

I'm really pleased with these two pieces of feedback, as they show both sides of how we're using Jason Todd-- and I'm equally surprised at both readers for their views Another awesome issue, Charlie! Jason Todd is a bastard! Why would anyone like him?! He's a fun guy to write, he's like... the Bale Batman, pure force of fear, and he's the kind of guy that, when the night is through, needs to rest his vocal chords. He's going around screaming at people, and we get to see his life as the Dark Knight examined next issue. That issue was a blast to write!! I haven't been the biggest fan of DC2 Jason Todd (being that the DCU version is my fav character). A lot of the changes done to him really didn't resonate well with me and i still cringe when they are brought up. We play the hand we're dealt, Alex, and Ramon and I are working on making Jason Todd an absolute arsehole! Except, maybe, he might say ass and we'd get into an argument over semantics-- but I digress! Jason Todd is not a nice person anywhere right now. DC dropped the ball with Battle of the Cowl in my-- and I think many others'-- opinion, and we're working a whole different direction with him. Hopefully you'll love where we're taking him, because we're loving taking him there! But you're pulling me to the other side with the great stories you're telling with him. I love the swearing and the fact he's trying to redeem himself... his own way. He seems like a perfect fit to protect the narrows. Just brilliant all around. Just the Narrows, Alex? Uh-oh. Gotham is about to go through some changes big time, and it all begins here. The Gotham Underground (where the criminals run around) is going to be completely changed. It's going brilliantly, writing #40 as we speak! And I hope Dick makes it out of his situation okay... and then the Black Mask! Black Mask is dealt with in this story-arc. He has a major story being told, and you wait till he calls in The Flesh-Monger. Just. You. Wait. Hush is still pretty new to DC2 but man is he creepy. Loving it! The Man-Bat fight was cool but man was it overshadowed by that ending. Holy cliffhanger Batman! Hush is going to be a dangerous man in the next few issues, I promise you that, especially considering his new friend. I didn't want people thinking I was short-changing him when he was taken down, and it was always the intention for him to escape and wreak some havoc! Man-Bat may very well be back very soon--! We'll just have to see how the arc goes, but there is an in for him, and it involves #40, Batwoman, and the GCPD.... and that cliff-hanger... well, Dick is in for one Hell of a fight. luckly we don't have to wait to long for the next installment and I will be there. Brilliant story sir! Two weeks, sir! Co-written with Ramon, and with a cover from him too! You lucky devils, you! Love the cover too. Man-Bat looks wicked! Yeah, that cover was a cool find! Thank you both for reading!!

5 stars. Excellent job. Amazing. I have no love for the character of Jason Todd at all and this one issue has made him more interesting to me than the last three years of DC stories.
Most impressive cover as well! Love the look of Man-Bat.

Charlie, I'm amazed. Totally astounded.
I've always HATED Jason Todd in every incarnation. I can remember actually voting for him to die way back when, and being pleased (?) when it happened. I hated DCU bringing him back, and I've hated how he's been portrayed upon his return (Countdown? UGH!).
I read the Dark Knight Nemesis prologue and despite myself, I liked it. And I have to say I love what you're doing with him here as well. A dark, edgy (somewhat crazy?) Knight running around as counterpoint to Dick/Batman. I hope you keep things in this vein, and not make Jason too psychotic or eventually become too noble as the fine line you're walking here really works for me. Bravo.
Got my issues with Dick/Batman that I've addressed elsewhere, but you're writing him excellently using what you have to work with. Though it looks like he's in for a world of hurt.
Love what you're doing with the Gotham Underground/mob families. All of it. Compelling stuff. And Hush/Drakon is terrific, too. The bat-family looks kinda screwed here, doesn't it?

5 stars. Excellent job. Amazing. I have no love for the character of Jason Todd at all and this one issue has made him more interesting to me than the last three years of DC stories. I'm writing him as we speak-- #40 is coming along nicely-- and he is a blast to work with. #38 is another Jason solo issue, along the lines of DC2 Nemesis Prologue: The Dark Knight issue, though to a lesser degree. We get to see how he ticks, and how this story involves him. And it's a doozy. Most impressive cover as well! Love the look of Man-Bat. Yeah, it was a great find, and I'm thankful for the artist to let me use it

Charlie, I'm amazed. Totally astounded. Awesome I've always HATED Jason Todd in every incarnation. I can remember actually voting for him to die way back when, and being pleased (?) when it happened. I hated DCU bringing him back, and I've hated how he's been portrayed upon his return (Countdown? UGH!). I was excited for his return in Under The Hood, but not in his Clayface-incarnation within Hush, or the debacle that was Countdown, or any of that stuff. I honestly think Judd Winnick is the only guy to really get him since his return, which, whilst not necessary, was a pretty cool idea when it was moving along logically (putting Jason into Countdown? Not logical. Making him a meta-human monster in Nightwing? Not logical). I read the Dark Knight Nemesis prologue and despite myself, I liked it. Ha! In your face! Bravo. Thank you, it means a lot to me for you to like this. Whilst we don't agree on certain bat-elements (I don't mind Dick being Batman, as long as the stories make sense), it's always cool to see people read and enjoy different approaches to stuff, and Jason is one of the elements in this book that will stay until... #45. Dun-dun-duh... Got my issues with Dick/Batman that I've addressed elsewhere, but you're writing him excellently using what you have to work with. Though it looks like he's in for a world of hurt. You'll love it Love what you're doing with the Gotham Underground/mob families. All of it. Compelling stuff. And Hush/Drakon is terrific, too. The bat-family looks kinda screwed here, doesn't it? It is. That said, Breaking the Bat is just the beginning to another phase of the Bat-books. Starting in #43... something bigger and bolder than this is coming, and for all of you who aren't happy with the current direction? Heh...

This issue felt like the warning shot across the bow that a new Batman epic is on the way! I am very much enjoying Dick-as-Batman but perversely growing nostalgic for Bruce ( ). I'm a sucker for a good Man-Bat story, and while this issue wasn't about the haunted Dr. Langstrom, per se, he was certainly used to great effect here (though I'm not quite sure what purpose he served--- is this a Nemesis thing?). Nice to see Dick holding his own against him, proving he is the ONLY rightful inheritor of the cowl. Except for Jason Todd. That dude is scary. His characterization (at least in this issue) owes a bit too much to Bale, in my opnion, but I can see some very interesting character bits coming: for instance, he's sharper than me if he can discern the killer's identity from the clues so far--- messing with memories and "dimunitive" stature (of course, I suspect Dr. Pyscho, but I'm sure I'm wrong). Fantastic ending! Be back for more soon!

This issue felt like the warning shot across the bow that a new Batman epic is on the way! I am very much enjoying Dick-as-Batman but perversely growing nostalgic for Bruce ( ). Big plans for Batman (that you're aware of, Dave ) have their seeds sown here, not only for Breaking The Bat, but for another event that I have already teased across the board already. It's going to get mad ugly in Detective Comics and Nightwing very soon, and I cannot wait for you all to see what we've got planned... I'm a big fan of the haunted Langstrom approach, but I'm also a bigger fan of the DCAU version-- "On Leather Wings" will forever be my favourite ever Batman story, bar none, and I wanted to capture that kind of tone. I don't think I was victorious, so, alas... what I can promise you though... is that in Rogues Gallery this month, we will see more of the dear old Doctor! Yes! You heard it here first... I'd be a crappy writer if I relied on the same mysterious villain in two books coming out nearly the same month (my final issue of Wonder Woman /shamless plug!!), but the villain of the story, who has been revealed in the next issue, was originally intended to be part of a story written for a proposed The Dark Knight ongoing, back when the Bat-books first felt the effects of Bruce's death. That book was going to rock, and this story is lifted from that "proposal", so I hope you like a glimpse of what could have been! Fantastic ending! Be back for more soon! We've got four more issues up and awaiting you, sir! Thanks for taking the time to read!
