Bravo! This was great. The moment that hasd been coming since the beginning of the Title. With these nine issues so far looking back on them you really have given the sense of Dick growing up quite a bit over the year. Excellent read.

I thought I should reread it, to back up my earlier comments, and so I did Ellen, so I repeat: I like! Great characterisation, and the Batman/Nightwing relationship is getting fixed! We've had a year of waiting for it, and at last, here we go! The little piece of reality we now have behind Bruce's decision to you-know-what is in character, and I'm surprised it's not something we've seen before. You bring so much to the character, and I can't wait till you return to Nightwing after the hiatus! But I guess we can amuse ourselves with... Well. Y'know. Soon

Thanks, Charlie. What can I say? That scene just felt... right. Oh... and chapter 4 of "Well. Y'know" is at the proofreaders.

Fantastic. And not one villain in sight. The only punches thrown were between Bruce and Dick, and that was more training than actual combat.
And now Bruce realizes his boy has grown up. Become a man. I really have been waiting for this since the beginning, and it was well worth the wait. I like that you acknowledged the Titans and Nightwing convincing Batman to do something (join the Justice League) shows not only a newfound respect from Bruce but also reveals a new maturity from the bat himself.
As always, the writing style is excellent and I am sorry to see that this title is going on hiatus but when it returns I get the feeling that a new era for Dick/Nightwing will be beginning.

Thanks much. This issue really felt like coming full-circle for the Bat-boys and for me. Before writing for this site, most of my work was character and plot-driven with little to no physical conflict. (Not to be mistaken for 'lack of conflict', mind you. ) It's been a fun run. I'm hoping someone else will be coming onboard soon. My big problem is that I can't consistently meet deadlines if I've got multiple projects on my plate. Right now, I'm working on a sequel to Locked Inside the Facade. Once that's done, I would definitely look at coming back to this title. Thanks again!

This is my favorite Nightwing issue to date. Hands down. Bar none. This is the reason that I'm here on this site, to learn. There are several people here that I'm constantly learning from, and you, Ellen, are in the top three. This issue was mesmerizing in its characterization. I honestly felt like I was eavesdropping on family moments that I shouldn't have been. You are constantly reminding me (as a writer) that you can have the greatest plots and neatest tricks to bring people in, but if you don't have an understanding and love for the character you're writing, you can only go so far. Thank you for that! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful work here. Thank you for being a wonderful teacher! And don't stop hanging around here just cause you're on a break. I don't want to have to hunt you down.

Thank-YOU, Brian! I've been learning from the best, here and elsewhere. Character, at least NW's character has always been the easy part. But pacing, action, combat... I work at it. I'm getting more and more comfortable with experience. However, getting inside a character and getting a feel for what makes him (or her!) tick is the part that comes easy.
Oh, and I'm just on break from Nightwing. Once I've got the Locked sequel fully plotted, expect a new Elseworlds mini!

Fantastic read, Ellen! And a fitting end to the arc begun back in January; this title (and title character!) really has come full circle.
Dick and Bruce have finally come to an understanding, not to mention respect, for and with each other. Some great character moments there, and some nice comedy especially with Alfred (the only man Bruce truly fears ;D).
It was nice to see a scene from a year ago referenced in the story (the Bethany Snow interview in TT#1)--- this is something Ellen does so well, tying-in even the most inconsequential-seeming bits into a cohesive continuity that informs the development of the character.
With this issue I got to see, for the first time, Dick as an equal, a peer, of Bruce's, and not just his former sidekick. This alone sets this writer apart in a class by herself! For my money, I'd rather read an Ellen Fleischer Nightwing story than just about anyone elses' (though, I am excited about Marv being back on the DCU title)!
And the cover was awesome! Kalin comes through with an image that packs a wallop--- I love the expression on Batman's face! Very nice job!

Thanks, Dave! And yes, one of the things I've had in mind since starting the title (probably in order to compensate for the Grayson-Jones portrayals) was to resolve most of the "Daddy" issues. Not to say that Bruce and Dick always have to see eye-to-eye and never argue again. But Dick is done with angsting over "getting fired", or Bruce not returning his phone calls.
And Bruce has woken up, smelled the coffee, and realized that his boy is a man.
Thanks again!

This started out as a nice epilogue to the Crisis storyline but it turned out to be something much more. As a huge fan of both Nightwing and 'character' stories you managed to wrap up your current run in grand fashion Ellen. I always cringed when DC feel into the trap of taking Dick's character backward by filling him with self-doubt and tacking back on the 'daddy issues' he had with Bruce. At least here in the DC2 universe we see it resolved in some of the best written scenes ever done between Batman and Nightwing. Your love for the characters and your talent have made this an exciting and very fulfilling 9 issue run. Once the Locked sequel is done, can't wait to see what you have in store next.
Thank you.
